Dear all,

Last year I passed a real state exam and I have become a civil servant. The problem is that the list of people who passed the exam is too long and I am still unemployed and waiting for them to call me. There is nothing I can do with this anymore, I mean, I am in the list and all I can do is waiting.

I asked Yi about my working life for next year 2025 and I obtained 15.5 which, I think, it means to take action. But as I said, all my action is already done, unless I change my course and search for a job in a different area.

Could you tell me, please how this could apply to my situation?

Thanks.

Hi, Marinaflsenda,
Congratulations on passing your exam, first of all. I understand the situation you're in. Mine is similar. I ask a lot of questions to the Yi about work.

So you have h15, integrity, changing by the 5th Line to h39, limping

This is from Hilary's book:

Key questions
What is the simple reality?
How might you return to a state of balance?
What if it didn't all depend on you?

Oracle
To experience Integrity is like coming face to face with your real self -- plane, simple and unadorned. To have integrity is to be whole, at one with yourself and with reality. It means being honest about your own capacities, holding yourself and creative balance with your world and not exaggerating the importance of your role.
These qualities enable the noble one to bring whatever work presents itself to completion. Since she is not overly full of herself, she has space for the real world; she isn't hampered by an excess or by a lack of confidence. Since she isn't caught up in a personal story, and doesn't identify her work with her worth, she is free to do what needs to be done and move on.

Image
'In the center of the earth there is a mountain: integrity
A noble one reduces what is too much and increases what is diminished,
Weighing things up to even out their distribution'

Moving on to the reading for line 5 in h15:
Not rich in your neighbor,
fruitful to use this to invade and conquer.
Nothing that does not bear fruit.

When times are hard, you look for help first to what is nearby ‐‐ your current circumstances and nearest relationships. If you don't find what you need here you have a choice. You could settle politely for what you have: there might be enough for subsistence, though not for you to flourish. Or you could use it's inadequacies as an inspiration to venture further afield and conquer something new. Seeking fulfillment- the higher and larger goal than just getting by - is the path of integrity; it is hard, challenging work, but it bears fruit.

H39 Limping reads:

Key questions:

Where can you find help?
How could you see the obstacles differently?
Can you imagine going a different way?

Oracle:

Limping. Fruitful in the west and south,
Not fruitful in the east and north.
Fruitful to see great people.
Constancy, good fortune.

When life has become an uphill struggle, it's wise to fall back and head west and south. This direction represents a realm of friendly allies and sunwarmed fields; the East and North is dark and mountainous, the way of calling an adventure.
So now is the time to take a step back from the struggle and connect with people more than with ideals( even if the responsibility is yours alone, the work need not be.) Really facing a problem means being prepared to tackle it in a different way not just trudging doggedly onward until the path Peters out beneath your feet.
Seeing great people helps you keep traveling towards your long-term vision despite the obstacles and course corrections. You may literally find a 'great person' with the experience in wisdom to reorient you; you may be guided by an intervision of human potential.
Yu the Great, the hero who conquered the floods, toiled for years to build Dykes and dredge rivers, and was left with a limp. But he succeeded in the end because of what he did differently: and listing the help of people in spirits, and honoring the flow of the water.

This is the best I can make of this:
The first reading means that you have come through something that is honorable and took a lot of work and you succeeded. This may be everything it took to pass your exam. Line five says a few very important things and I think I would reread that several times while looking for the answers to show up in my life. It is common practice to see the changing line reading as the direct message from the oracle, but there is a lot more here. Oracle seems to be saying to reach out to find some experienced people in your chosen field to find some help. I don't know if it is that important to head to the west and the south literally, but you might take a look at that.
I find the reading for h39 very interesting as it seems to line up with your current situation, and the changing hexagram reading usually means your present circumstances, if I understand correctly.
The comment says take a step back from the struggle and see great people.
Who do you know that has gone through this before? There may be something you can do that is simple and fits in with your current circumstances so that you may be able to ride this time out until your real work starts to come through.

I hope this helps in some way, I'm sure there are still others that will see things that I did not. Good luck with everything.

Thank you very much, @Traveler74 , at least it gives me hope that there will be a result of my effort at some point. Regarding the "great people", well, I don´t know if they are great or not, but while I´m waiting I´m doing a lot of things that I like and meeting new people, actually I´m socializing a lot; I started a theater company myself cause I love theater, I joined Theater Companies Local Federation to keep updated and do some networking, etc. My social life is nowadays probably the best I´ve ever had. I don´t know if that´s what Yi is talking about but it´s definitely helping me to cope with this economically inactive period.

Is there anything you can do with a real estate license that doesn't involve this list? If so, the advice would probably be to pursue those things vigorously.

I'm making a guess that the neighbor is the list. The thing that's nearby, the most obvious source of help, something like that. The list isn't helping you right now, so you'll have to invade and conquer farther afield.

But it sounds to me as if you're not in the United States, which means I'm even more clueless (I know nothing about real estate even here). Realtors in the U.S. aren't civil servants, though.

Thanks, @Liselle . I´m in Spain and there is nothing you can do about that list. Of course I can keep studying and try to get a better score next time in order to achieve a better position in that list, though, honestly, I dont feel like doing it. I spent two years working really hard to pass that exam and I´m still a bit burnt out.

I guess I'm wondering about other, non-list, non-civil-service industries who might employ someone with good real-estate knowledge. Finance companies, property insurance companies, developers...I'm making all of that up because I don't know anything about it; it's just something the reading reminded me of.

It'd be like suppose someone has a medical degree but doesn't want to practice as a regular doctor. There are still ways for that person to use her training: research, insurance, government agencies having to do with health... (again I don't have any first-hand knowledge).

But yes, I can certainly understand needing a rest from it. I'm just not sure the reading itself says "take a rest." Which doesn't mean you shouldn't take one, of course, and it's not like I know what Yi meant here.

Well, as a civil servant you are not a realtor like everyone knows it, it is more like an admin assistant position working for the Council of Housing.

In any case, I´m over 40 and, in Spain no one finds a job if you are over forty, specially if you are a woman. That was the first reason why I took that exam in the first place. I guess all I can do is crossing my fingers and pray for the list to run faster.
