So, I've been feeling further called to work with Papa Legba lately ~ and asking the appropriate forums, they seem to be big on tradition, blood lineage, and going through the channels of their priests. Something that is rather tricky for me to attempt at the moment...

The first question was rather simple: Papa Legba, in relation to me:

50.6 > 32

'The vessel has a jade handle
Great good fortune,
Nothing that does not bring harvest.'

Seems like there is indeed a strong connection here... one that is enduring. 32 implies much the same.

Second question: Ancestor connection to the Lwa?

35

'Prospering, Prince Kang used a gift of horses to breed a multitude.
He mated them three times in one day.'

Seems to possibly imply that there may well be...

Third question: blood lineage?

35.3 > 56

'All have confidence. Regrets vanish.'

So... even more confirmation.

I was told that I should not make an altar to Papa Legba, but speak to the Vodou priest to confirm my ancestor connections.

But, let's see what Yi has to say... I'm not one who really just likes to fall in line with hard, cold tradition. I follow where my nose leads me. Thus, 56 seems appropriate, heh.

Fourth question: should I make an altar to Papa Legba regardless?

25.3.4 > 37

'Without entanglement.
Creating success from the source, harvest in constancy.
One who makes no corrections commits blunders,
Then there is no harvest in having a direction to go.'

25.3

'The disaster of disentangling
Maybe someone tethered a cow.
Moving people's gain,
Townspeople's disaster.'

In this case, I seem to be the traveller, while the Haitian Vodoun priests are the townspeople...

Papa Legba is like the tethered cow ~ one that doesn't always stay in one place, like the Vodoun priests would much prefer.

25.4

'There can be constancy.
No mistake.'

In reference to the previous changing line, where I've gained a connection with Papa Legba, there seems to be no mistake it pushing forward.

However, I still need to have caution in making proper offerings... that is, making no blunders along the way.

37

'People in the Home.
Harvest in a woman's constancy.'

This seems to refer to the connection I make with Papa Legba by making an altar ~ I honour him by doing so. I make a space, a home, for him in my life.

The story behind this is thought to be that Kang was rewarded with the gift of horses, and a fief, for helping his brother the king by quashing a rebellion. So in general terms, it's about family relationship.
