A couple of months ago I thought I would be relocating for a job so I packed up most of my possessions but the job fell through so since then I'm surrounded by packed boxes and just have the minimal things I need. I can live like this but I like to create a home not just house for practical purposes. As it's a high unemployment area I'm still seeking work elsewhere but to no avail so far and I wonder if it's worth just resetting up my home until things do change. What's it worth to me to reset up my home Hexagram 11.2>36Yes Hexagram 36 my things are hidden and I'm feeling a bit flat and feel a bit adrift. In Line 2 it suggests crossing a river, which literally speaking I would have to, and any job would be quite a distance from here. It feels to me it's saying don't unpack you'll be soon crossing the river and leaving friends behind.

I see hexagram 11.2 - 36 as saying that while we are all in this crazy world together, a person does need a peaceful place where they can separate from the mass rush, protect the light and nourish the soul. Therefore as a response to what it's worth to reset up your home I think you are being encouraged to at least do enough so that you feel your home is your peaceful sanctuary, that you are in a stable place there = not stuck surrounded with packing boxes waiting to move but not nailing pictures to the walls and putting down roots either. It's worth it to unpack enough to create a cozy safe zone.

As the image for Peace mentions "regulating the gifts of heaven and aiding the people" you might use this packing and unpacking as an opportunity to sort through what you have, what you might be hoarding and whether you really need to take it all with you Perhaps this episode is giving you and opportunity to pass outgrown possessions on to friends or the thrift stores.

Or perhaps this image of regulating gifts and aiding people is suggesting that along with setting up your space so it at gives you a sense of home for yourself, you might also want to unpack a teacup or two for friends you invite in.

I was playing around with Wilhelm's translation and came up with..

11.2
Bearing with the uncultured with gentleness = No problem putting up with a bit of clutter and boxes.
Fording the river with resolution. = Continuing with intention to move.
Not neglecting what is distant. = Remembering you're going to want these things packed up eventually.
Not regarding one's companions. = So don't worry what your current friends and neighbors think.
Thus one may manage to walk in the middle = Be sure to leave enough space among the boxes so you have a path to get to the...
36. Bedroom.
Ha!

Thanks rosada and Steve.....rosada your first interpretation is what I've already done and it's been wonderful declutterring so thanks for confirming I'm on the right track!! and your second interpretation is exactly what's going on so I will just sit with things as they are as this reading is also a confirmation things are just as they should be....fortunately the surrounding outside environment is lovely bush with the beach not far away so being lucky enough to have the nature around me is hopefully keeping me grounded for now.

So glad I never unpacked and I'd done this packing in advance so to speak because as I turned out I finished packing and moved in less than a week. Everything is in storage now until I find my new abode.
