writing block...am I on the right track for my applying proposal? 38.1.2.4>23

Dear friends in Clarity,

I have been in writing blocks for a long time. These days I received some suggestions and I totally changed my direction of my proposal that I worked on several months. I am not sure my changing direction and the way I form my thesis now is right or not.

So, I asked IChing:

Am I on the right track for my applying proposal? 38.1.2.4>23
And lately, I got a lot of 23 for my applying proposals.. what does it mean?

I researched on the forum, but still have no idea how to see this insight Iching gave me.

38 relates to doing something contrary or going in an opposite direction. It promises success only in small maters because too great a divergence of viewpoints does not allow great undertakings.

In 38.1 your horse has run off and you are advised to let it return of its own accord. Perhaps the horse refers to your writer's block.

38.2 and 38.4 suggest that you will meet someone who will be very helpful in regard to the question you posed.

23 in my experience points to a stressful time in which lots of trying situations arise. The lesson of 23 is to rid yourself of whatever has not been working, to get back to essentials and reset your priorities. It's has to do with being like a surgeon who cuts away diseased tissue to allow healing or new growth. Karcher says that 23 advises getting "rid of old, boring habits and ideas."

this is suggesting that you relax and don't try to force the issue, it seems to further suggest that you are currently on the wrong track having listened to the wrong people, you will get it altogether again but give it time.
Hex 23 suggests that the method you are currently using will not work out and that you should stay still and wait for your block to go away in due course, it advises you to do nothing for the time being.

But I am confused. These two replies are two opposite insights .

I changed my direction totally three days ago after I received one rejection and one email from one professor's suggestion in the other school I would love to work with.

So does hex 38 mean that from the past and the transition from the present to the future

The changing direction I am working now is totally contradictory from the one I had worked before for half year. And the changing direction I am takign and the suggestions I received already leads me into a state hex23.

hex 23 means I will get rid of a lot of useless things and I will cut into the center, the essential elements of the thesis that is more doable and workable for my applying this school.

But if in willowfox's reply, it shows totally different--I am revising into a totally different direction. I cut off a lot of parts and only keep very small parts. I am on the wrong track.

You are asking about your current method of applying and not your previous method of applying, you are asking whether it is right or not, as the lines say guard yourself from making mistakes, you cannot achieve what you want because you are doing the thing wrong and that you are isolating yourself using this approach. Hex 23 says it does no good to follow this method, the whole thing will just collapse.

This is how I read it but you are free to take it or leave it, if you judge my interpretation as being wrong then no problem, it is entirely up to you how you should play the game, as it is your game.

Yes, it is my own game depending on how I play.
I will keep contemplating and tracking the development and iching's insight.
