I've been experiencing an interesting pattern or dynamic, and I would like to get feedback from others who are familiar with the Yi, to understand if this is something that commonly happens.

I asked the Yi for advice on whether to pursue a change in how I solicit feedback inside an established writing group. The answer was 2.6, which contains the changing line image

"Dragons battling in the open country.
Their blood dark and yellow."

Hilary has shared some great insights into this line here: https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/answers/2016/09/11/dragons-fight-hexagram-2/

At first, I took this to be advice to proceed carefully, with an eye to not offending or alienating the group, but they embraced the changes with welcome arms. After meditation, I realized that the Yi was not warning me about my situation, but rather giving me inspiring and useful symbolism with which to dive into the story itself. The image of the dragons fighting became a core theme of the story, and help me deepen the writing. I realized what the dragons represented in that reading, and it helped me understand the story better.

This happened again today. I asked the Yi: "What advice does the Yi have for me in my creative writing at this time?". The sults was, confusingly, 47.1 > 58. Oppression and Exhaustion shifting slowly to Joy. At first, the reading felt wrong, but there were some oddly familiar parts to it. The images the Yi was showing me were perfectly in tune with the story I am writing (including describing a specific scene I had doubts on whether to include), rather than the real world situation I find myself in personally.

I know others who pursue creative endeavors frequent the community. What have your experiences been? Does the Yi ever send you answers that are meant to inspire your creative expressions, rather than describe your current situation? Have you had a reading where the meaning shifted like this, or in some other way?

I would great appreciate any insights or sharing from anyone who could shed light on this dynamic, and whether it happens to others.

One image of "dragons' blood falling like rain" is that dragons' blood - and perhaps their tears - fall to earth and make the plowed earth and fields fertile. In a way this is describing the fertile fields of your writing group (and your writing), and that perhaps certain kinds of criticism can be fertile and useful for you.

Hex. 2 is about openness, acceptance; and about make things real and 'down-to-earth'. With the top line moving, the upper trigram (3-line figure) "Earth" changes to trigram "Mountain". One meaning here is that you should be open to and accepting of feedback, but that sometimes you will need to 'put a lid on it' - that some of this is not useful, or kind, or helpful, and you need to put an end or stop to it!

The Yi can - and I think usually does - serve dual purposes, so if you find inspiration and ideas for your writing in your cast, I'm sure the dragons will be pleased!

Best, D
