What ae some changing lines and hexagrams indicating/ affirming of a marriage

If the querent asks to the oracle what is their chance of marrying a PARTICULAR PERSON, then what are some positive hexagram and changing lines to get that affirms or indicates the possibility of the questioner's marriage with the particular certain someone?

well you have to see the lines as a kind of general advices which can be put in the context of your situation - they dont have only one meaning

with 64 hexagrams x 6 lines each aspect of life in general can be shown, but the problem is that humans wont always be able to read them right

so i would suggest that you ask the question: whats the potential for marrying X - then look at the hexagram plus the lines and try to put them into your context

if it won't make sence for you, post a thread with some information on x and your reading

try to be honest with yourself, sometimes i ching refers to your inner attitude as a kind of conditio sine qua non for your aims in life...so open your mind for self criticism as well

Hi Lopamudra,

I think it might all be relative to the situation and question etc. I would say that if you inquire about marriage, and then receive lines that say things like, it is good to take action or that doing something will create success etc, then that could mean you are receiving an affirmation. Usually it's pretty complicated and even within an affirmation it will give you advice so that the specific marriage of the inquirer is possible. This is just my general take but would like to hear some specific lines people think might be pointing towards a positive affirmation of marriage. Maybe people have gotten lines on the topic and can verify they are true. I myself have not found any success with marriage and so I am afraid I have nothing to offer!

However the real meaning of word LOPAMUDRA is not given correctly there.
Let me describe what it means.
LOPA - Loss of
MUDRA - Gesture.
It describes a woman/lady who is so deeply into meditation/devotion of god that she has lost her gestures in the process, it is the stillness when we are so deeply into happiness, in love, hear something very pleasant...for a second, due to excessive of emotions, we can not react. It is generally referred to loss of gesture in devotion, in god's prayer or deep in love...and my nature beautifully reflects my name.

Yes, right. You got that very right, and it is so good to be curious, generally intelligent people are curious. As I am a Hindu and Indian, we have our names from Sanskrit, though due to the word's reference in classical eastern dances, people understand the word "mudra" to be gesture with hands" , it is any gesture of show of emotions through face, eyes, hands , basically anything.

You must have heard the word " Samudra" in Sanskrit meaning the sea.
Mudra is as always Gestures.

And the word "Sa" would mean "with".

So as the sea always is so expressive with waves rising and breaking: it is constantly with gestures, so see how beautifully it is named -" which is with (constant) gestures (through) waves".

I have never heard 'Samudra' before. How you explain it's parts is very enlightening. I link the ocean with emotion. And emotion with gestures. When we feel something, or have an emotion it naturally gives rise to movement. Sometimes just within, but sometimes expressed outside. Your name's meaning, to have loss of gesture, gives rise to a whole new branch of thought for me. I am seeing it as the stillness right before something great happening. Almost like after a wave starts to form it might seem to stop in motion just before it crashes down and creates all that movement and all those ripples. Or when, like you said, you are taken back by something, you have a frozen moment that is sort of unexplainable, and then all of your gestures and emotions about it come back.

On a side note, I am hoping to learn some about your question on marriage and it's connections with the lines of the Yijing.

I agree that hexagrams and texts have many meanings. My practice is to take the spirit of the question as the guide to choosing an interpretation. If the question is asked with expectant joy, then the interpretation is positive. If with grief, then negative. I also expect to find both persons in the casting.

Thank you for the response and liking pocossin. and pocossin, i also hope someone who has experience shed some lights, yes samudra is the original sanskrit word which is till used by east-indians, however west indians have slightly integrated urdu (due to muslim invasion which specifically affected their area)to their language and do not speak very original Sanskrit words, but bit after tweaking it...like samundar, which has no meaning....and really the greatest mindblowing emotion just leaves you speechless n expressionless....thats the biggest emotion, you cant cry, you cant laugh, you are just lost....hehe like they say white is a colorless color, but it is the mixture of all colors....so becoming still and just lost is the biggest emotion...not being able to react, just awestruck, lost....submerged then n in there....

Hexagram 32, Constancy, or The Long Lasting, is said to be one hexagram pertaining to a marriage. But "marriage" is not just concept but many, many concepts under one word. In a marriage there are legal aspects, love aspects, sexual aspects, family aspects, financial aspects, and so on. With 32, constancy, when something is just on the verge of ending, it begins all over again, and so it becomes self-renewing.

Hexagram 53, Gradual Progress, often comes up when there is a slow progression to a union that arrives gradually.

But really, the best thing to do is ask a question and ponder the I Ching's response ... not begin to ponder so much before ever asking a question!

There are no one-size-fits-all responses. The I Ching will be speaking to you personally. It responds to the inner person, telling you what you most need to hear. But it can be quite difficult to interpret the responses. This is something that takes time to learn. Since you have such a love of words and their meanings, maybe if you throw the coins and ask your question, you will fall in love with the response and get married to the I Ching !

54 (Marrying Maiden) would usually imply the opposite, at least to me. Usually it would advise in the case of marriage, that it is not the right time and that their is a secondary person who is more predominantly in the picture. The lines seem to give advice on how to cope or act with being second, usually in a receptive manner.

8 (Union) it depends on the line. Lines 1and 2 I'd say it's possible depending on a deeper look at the question and people involved. The other lines don't seem as promising but again it is situational. Line 3 is a no.

31 (Influence) depends on the lines as well. A lot of the lines are 'maybe's' depending on a lot of things, Personally lines 2, 3, 5 and 6 are a no (to me).

This is coming not from experience of receiving this line, but 44.5 doesn't seem too bad for a question of marriage. Although, it seems more like the marriage is to create a child and that is the true blessing (44 in general has to do with intercourse). Receiving this line could also say that when you are not expecting it, someone ELSE will suddenly appear to you and be right for marriage instead of who you thought. Just throwing it out there.

On a more serious note, this presents how that Yijing can speak to us all differently. Also, we can take in someone else's idea of a reading as our own, if the symbols presented are something that resonate with us. Like planet associations etc.

Hexagram 31, often called Wooing, really has to do with being deeply moved or affected by someone or something. While the influence can be pleasant, hexagram 31 is also what you'd receive for a dentist causing you pain.

There is no marriage hexagram, any more than there is a money hexagram. Marriage is a partnership in which the couple becomes a new family and other considerations are also important, so many, many hexagrams could come up as expressions of all the nuances ...
