Hex 11 uc and thoughts of taking first steps

I recently posted about returning to school which seems to be a common theme for me and even more common question for Yi -

https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/fri...-8-2-29-and-hexagram-27-uc.34151/#post-320811

Breaking down a huge undertaking like a whole new degree and what it entails - it turns out to get started I only need to take Anatomy in the first semester because of everything else that is required in the first semester has transferred from past education.

So instead of panicking about the whole degree and the entire amount of time and energy and requirements to become an RN, I asked Yi this morning -

What about me taking anatomy this Fall? I received Hex 11 uc.

My first glance at 11 gave me Legge using HARMONY and Wilhelm using PEACE with mentions of GOOD FORTUNE and SUCCESS.

Then I read some folks' other ideas of 11 uc and visions of Piccard on the Enterprise saying ENGAGE while pointing his finger out into space, well, as a Star Trek fan and one who would love a Star Trek based I Ching as mentioned by others - I got a shiver down my spine.

And Korne writes, "Without changing lines, Harmony suggests a fruitful union of opposites and consequent state of balance in the matter at hand." and "Wilhelm translates the opening phrase of the Confucian commentary as: "Heaven and earth unite." Blofeld renders it: "The celestial and terrestrial forces have intercourse and all things are in communion with one another." Legge has already called attention to McClatchie's version of: "Heaven and earth have now conjugal intercourse with each other."

all of this talk about celestial intercourse might get one excited about a "positive" response from Yi but I am now leaning to 11uc being more of an All About Eve-esque "Fasten Your Seat Belt. It's going to be a bumpy ride!"

Yes Piccard was/is famous for his "Engage" and when the crew did Engage - they always had an adventure...do I then correctly see my signing up for the anatomy course as a Piccard adventure?

11 can be tricky to interpret, maybe especially when it's unchanging. After all, a flow definitely wants to go somewhere...

In this case I wonder if the unchangingness might merely mean it not possible to know ahead of time whether it will keep flowing or not. It might not be so dramatic, just something that's not knowable.

As I just said in your other thread, this might come down to thinking about the effects on your life if you start but at some point find out you can't or don't want to finish.

In a way, that is a perfectly fine outcome: you've been drawn to this for a long time - you give it a try - you find out it's not for you after all - at least you won't always wonder "what if?"

But then there are the side effects to think about. Can you afford to lose the tuition money? Can you easily replace your current job if you have to quit it? Things like that.

One class does sound a lot more manageable than a full course load.

I don't think 11uc is discouraging.

thank you! and were you reading my mind? the side effects you mention - "loss of tuition money" - is really the only huge obstical - one class - 4 credits - almost $2500! I realize that in some circles tuition rates are far higher but that kind of money to me is something I need to really think about. Yes, I have the tuition for the course - but - if I take the course and something keeps me from finishing or afterwards I do not continue - while the money isn't necessarily "lost" - it would have an effect on my savings account.

oh, also, I think I'm demanding too much from Yi as well as anyone else who will listen. You mention it not being possible whether it will keep flowing or not. So true.
