hex 32>42 All lines changing.Auspicious?

Hey All!
Im back again hoping to get advice on how this cast should be interpreted.
Ive had a pretty messy 2017/18, and am longing for some stability/security and proper direction in my life.
My question was, "what does 2019 hold for me in regards to stability/security/direction?
Could some of the community here offer me insights please?

I really just dont know what to make of it with all changing lines.
Either my crappy luck is going to be 'lasting', or its advising me of a way through???

I havent had any stability though, so maybe it means that my instability will be lasting?
Sh*t.
Cant see any lucrative jobs on the horizon either (Im trying to get back into further study) so thats a bit of a mystery.
Would you say it seems bad or good?

32 by itself, unchanging, means that the current situation in question will go on (whatever that situation is). But 32 here is changing completely. Since you don't like the current situation, and 32 is here all changing thoroughly, then it sounds good!

You asked about 2019, and what's in store for you, and it looks very good to me and hopefully I'm right looks like your luck will change for the better. Saying that, all lines changing in 32 doesn't point to gaining 'stability' as such... but 42 is profit, advantage, and that sounds good to me too. Perhaps it does refer to your studies, which will not offer stability, but they will enrich you. At the end of the day, better to have instability which profits you, than to have instability that does nothing good for you.

32 and 42 are complements or opposites. They perfectly would slot into one another if you pushed them together. In what sense they are opposites in terms of meaning need some thinking about but anyway, at the very least, this is quite a potent reading !


I don't do yearly casts since it's a sort of arbitrary chunk of time, indeed I don't use time at all in my readings but you didn't just ask for a yearly reading you wanted to know in particular about 2019 in terms of 'stability/security/direction' and you have the very hexagram called 'duration' or 'enduring' or 'lasting' or 'persevering'.


As a sentence, and it is always helpful to make a sentence of the two hexagrams with many moving lines this says 'Lasting's Increase'. Hmmm


With many moving lines the relating hexagram comes to the fore and I see this cast as saying many opportunities for increase arise because you have persevered thus far. All the lines in 32 have been gone through, as if you already experienced each one. Because you have endured in your character over a length of time there are now conditions of Increase arising. It appears to me that whatever you have stuck with or whatever qualities of perseverance and steadiness in your self that you have cultivated through times of uncertainty (32) now pays off as options come forward that feel like blessings(42).


So I think going forward you need to be ready to fully embrace opportunities that might even seem to come out of the blue. Also carry the steadfastness you have developed into these future enterprises.

If you don't feel you have been steadfast in direction consider that in order to continue in our long term direction we often have to change direction in the short term in order to move forward.

Don't even think in those terms. If you do it's like you think it's already set up as 'good' or 'bad' and that's not very useful and in terms of Yi interpretation it just is a mistake to think that way.

Linking as sometimes people ask if a hexagram is good or bad/positive or negative which shows complete lack of understanding of what the I Ching is so can greatly hinder efforts at interpretation.

Something else to consider about 32 and 42.

In 32 the jun zi keeps doing the same thing.
but not in 42.
In 42 when in error, jun zi corrects himself, and makes changes for the better.

So, I think this is about you, your choices, and behaviours.

Hello Diamanda!
Thanks for the good news! Ive had a hideous couple of weeks with one problem after another- expensive car breakdown, other equipment breakdowns and came home yesterday to my 7mth old pup, who had chewed through my solar hot water wiring! Thankfully, friends, strangers have helped me, along with picking up some small amounts of money unexpectedly which has made it all more bearable.
So Im loving your interpretation of change ha ha!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. That makes alot of sense to me. I really didnt know how to read so many changing lines, but when you put it like that it seems obvious
And I understand what you are saying in regards to "Good or bad?", but its alot easier said than done when lifes been an uphill battle over a prolonged period!
(Plus, I thought your interpretation was "Good" so Im going to go with that!!! -ever the optimist)

Thats an interesting observation, that I can relate to. Im working very hard to change attitudes/behaviours, that no longer serve me. Its a work in progress though ha ha!

This sounds as though I might actually catch a breakthrough!
