After facing failure after failure, and learning how inapt I am in managing my life in outside world, I asked:

What's the point of living in a world I could never learn & act upon the rules & seem to remain stranger forever? 50.3.6>40

The ability to act is temporarily lost in 50.3, the stew is wasted. 50.6 shows a permanent, solid situation. Then there is release: 40.
The cooking (50) is over and it's time for liberation. Hmmm ... how should I liberate myself? I'm damn sure I don't want my life to continue like this.

Again, the cooking is rapidly expired & it's time for forceful action (34).

50.1 indicates "getting the blockage out". That's what I've been trying for since more than a year. In what direction & how I should act? I don't know. I really don't know, can't analyze, can't see. I've done all I could with my limited perception.

I’ve usually received 50.3 when either someone else isn’t listening, or I’m not. I think this might be showing you alternatives. 50.6 is very open. 50.3 is totally blocked and then needs to learn from that blockage. It might be saying that there are chances for you to, even slightly, shift in knowledge and perception but they aren’t being taken. The alternative is to be open and willing to change even if most of it will seem wrong at first because it’s different. 50.3 is stubbornness. Maybe ‘the point’, as you asked in the question, is to learn from the 50.3 experience (Bradford Hatcher’s interpretation is a good one for this perspective and captures the 50.3 feeling well I think) and then have enough willingness and humility to be as open as 50.6, releasing the conflict/challenge by choosing a different way (40). Sounds like small changes won’t do it. 50.3 is a whole shift in perception because the way we approached it or are approaching it is totally wrong for getting what we are trying to get.

50.1.6 > 34

Receiving 50 twice makes me think this is about you, your personhood, your approach. You being or becoming the vessel. I think it’s encouraging you to get out the blockage that’s keeping you from being with 50.6 (same message as the first casting, nearly) and to use all your vigor for that is your energy can start to go in better directions.

50.1 is upside down. Totally different perspective and approach. Like doing a handstand and allowing everything to appear different. Something is being held onto that is not helpful and stops everything else in its tracks.

Also, it occurs to me that the lines being farther apart in the second casting could mean you’re getting farther from ‘it’ with the second question. Like you’re getting “colder” along that line of thinking, rather than “warmer” by following the information in the first answer.

The Yi is saying that you have the ability to move from feeling depressed, by "expelling the stagnating" (50.1) and you can get to a place that is ...

"very promising (and where) nothing cannot be turned to your advantage" (50.6).

Hex. 54 is not a part of your reading, but Hex. 34 - Big and Strong - is! and ....

34 says it is "worthwhile to persist!"

Here you have trigram (3-line figure) Heaven below, and trigram Thunder above. It is suggesting that you need to focus on taking decisive action. I think this could mean seeing a therapist or counselor as a starting point .... But you may need to push yourself a bit to get past your feelings of hopelessness.

Richard Rutt calls Hex. 34 a "Big Injury"; most of the other names mean you Wield Great Strength and that you have the Power of the Great available to you to heal this injury - but it will take some creative and focused effort on your part to access this.

The point of living in this world for you is to become aware of opportunities to 'grasp renewal' (50). You life can be seen in a context of 'relaxing' where Yi advocates the best course of action is to 'pardon transgressions and forgive crimes.’(40). The deeper resonances in your situation are directing you towards a place where you, through the auspice of Hex 63 ( Already Across - nuclear of 40) can find that things in this world will become 'calm and settled' for you. For that to happen though you are facing the challenge on having to face and reflect on all sorts of distress and how you might best prepare yourself to defend against these distresses.

50.3 - Things are changing at an emotional level although you may not see this clearly at the moment. The more you embrace relaxation, in all it's contexts, the more things will change for the better.
50.6 - What is happening in all this confusion is a precious thing - a transformation. Confusion is the starting point of not being confused; not learning is the starting point of learning; 'never' may be shorter than you think and with a final resolute push things will be seen as being really not as bad as they seem to you now.

34 meaning ' you must first still yourself'

Nuclear 40 meaning 'relaxing'

Still the same deep vibrations bringing relaxing relief and change into your world. You should go on for the same reason as above - to 'grasp renewal'. Here though you are being shown a new beginning where you are enable to engage with a great strength and a new power. This will be found deep within you and it will be inescapable. This is a ride you will not be able to miss. It will help you break though the old rules and laws that you have created for yourself through past experiences and this will bring with it a chance to see everything in a fresh way.

....or it may mean nothing like this at all for you.

What is happening in all this confusion is a precious thing - a transformation.

This morning I dreamt of several unusually big worms found during house cleaning in our living room. Creepy. I can't call it a nightmare, however, as other aspects of the dream were OK, ever pleasant. Then two worms became bigger- the size of a dog- and took the form of caterpillar. Others didn't find them threatening.

I visited Dreamtation website to read the indications of seeing caterpillars in a dream: in general it means going through a big change; and psychologically, it symbolizes qualities that aren't recognizable yet. A yet incomplete development. Worms indicate decomposition & fertilization.

That resonates with your interpretation.

I'd say that you are currently percolating your way through Hexagram 50 ~ the Cauldron?

I see 49 and 50 as a pair depicting the act of sacrifice:

With 49, one skins the victim (your egoic self) of all externals and *sees* the inside, a Revolution in perspective.​

And, with 50, one offers the meat (your egoic beliefs, judgments and stories) in the Cauldron to the ancestors in hopes of receiving blessings in return.​

A quote attributed to Sherlock Holmes, the famous fictional 19th century detective, says:

"If you really want to hide something well, then put it in the most obvious spot."​

The reason you may not be finding contentment with the pervasively dissatisfying external world, no matter which direction you go, is because you are not looking for contentment in the most obvious spot: on the inside.

That's the direction you should go: Towards the Oneness without beginning or end in the Center.

In line 1, changing to 14, the blockage is your ego (the primary wife), and the concubine is your Spirit Being (the famous secondary wife of 54). The oracle says you should favor the concubine with your attention over your ego. It's your Spirit Being which will give birth to your awakening from the dissatisfaction of Separation from the Oneness. This is not a mistake.​

In line 3, changing to 64, you are unable to complete the connection (to hear) with the ancestors and the sacrifice fails, but the effort is rewarded on the periphery of your life. Stay with it.​

In line 6, changing to 32, the connection to the ancestors and the efficacy of the sacrifice has been established with constancy, like jade, and goes with you wherever you go.​

Taken together, lines 3 and 6 say that you are in the process of transforming your relationship with the Oneness from blocked to open, resulting in Liberation (40) from separateness. Similarly, taken together, lines 1 and 6 predict that the blockage will be successfully expelled by the Great Power (34) of the Oneness within you...

...in the most obvious spot.

Those damn caterpillars just get everywhere. There is no stopping them once their mind is made up. It seems your transformation dream is indicating that your change process is nothing to be fearful of. Hold onto your hat and enjoy the ride.
