Dear All,

I'm waiting for an answer regarding a test I made as a first step when applying for a job. The job interviews are gonna be held next week, and I don't still have the answer on if I passed or not to the next stage. I have asked the IC if i will be called as I need to prepare the interview, and the answer was 42.1.6>8, i was wondering if my actual situation is that I'm seeking union and then they will probably approach, even if the approximation will give me some troubles? or would it mean they will come near and they are seeking union? Please help!

I think it's perfectly natural to wait to prepare for something until you know that there's something to prepare for, especially if it's a rather loathsome task. (It's certainly what I would do, ahem.)

But I think the reading is saying that's not a good way to proceed in this case. Is there any chance that preparing for this interview would benefit you even if you don't actually get this particular interview? Maybe the preparation would be useful for other interviews at other companies, something like that?

42.1 (from Hilary Barrett's book)
"Fruitful to use this to make great beginnings.
From the source, good fortune, no mistake."

It says "use this" - maybe in the sense of "make use of." I read something someone wrote about that, somewhere, which now I can't find after looking in a couple seemingly-likely places :(, but if I remember correctly the point was that it may not be a success in this particular case, but it will be useful for something else. It behooves you to "make use of" this.

"[T]o make great beginnings" could be amplifying on that - if you properly use this opportunity, it will prove to b a good start in a larger sense. (The step of change for 42.1 is hexagram 20, Seeing - looking at the bigger picture.)

42.6
"Absolutely no increase in this,
Maybe someone strikes this one.
The heart's foundation is not lasting.
Pitfall."

This line might be saying that if you don't follow line 1's advice (if you don't persevere despite not getting a reponse from the company yet - if your "heart's foundation is not lasting"), there will be "pitfall" - something bad will happen as a result.

Wild speculation - but one way these lines could fit real life is you could get a phone call: "Oops! We forgot to call you! But can you come in for the interview this afternoon?" And then if you hadn't already prepared, you'd be at a disadvantage. Or what if one or more of their potential interviewees cancel for some reason, and they move to the next person on the list (you)? Or, as I said in the beginning, maybe it has nothing to do with this particular job, but the preparation would be useful for other jobs.

A completely different possibility, having to do with line positions rather than the text, is that you will hear something soon. I've read that readings with lines 1 and 6 moving can indicate a situation that will be resolved quickly.

Found it :). Hilary talked a little bit about the idea of "use this" in her recent blog post about the sixth line position:

http://onlineclarity.co.uk/answers/2014/10/18/the-distance-of-line-6/

Here's what she said, specifically about 30.6:

‘The king uses this to march out,
There are honours.
He executes the chief – the captives are not so ugly.
Not a mistake.’

"The king ‘uses this': he can engage the full power of this particular moment, grasp the whole picture, prioritise. The prince of 40.6 (another one ‘using’ the moment) is similar."

Despite what I said originally, Hilary's point was not that the thing in question would be of use later rather than now. I got that from the rest of the 42.1 text, not from the "use this" part (and it's just my guess, in any event). But it still seems like it might be important for you to "use" this moment, and if you do, it will somehow be beneficial.

I second lisa's answer:
Line 1 - It's time to increase, the activity is here, the energy is rising!
Line 6 - It's not a time to still be passive, get on with the job already, prepare for the interview, or else.

Richmond:
Line 6 goes yin - our inner being accepts more.
This is no time to get involved in inner stillness (line 1 is yang) when we are in a Tao of nourishing outer activity.

Here we fail to sacrifice the importance of identifying - we identify in the inner stillness - and we miss the middle path, the non-identified state. By trying first the outer and then the inner as our focus we are not being consistent and nothing is furthered; only a shock will change this cycle of choosing, for it fuels itself, so it is as if someone strikes him.

Dear topal and ashteroid, I have just received a reply saying that I was not selected for the next stage in this job, meaning that the answer came very fast, but I had an inspiration and I will contact the big boss for another opportunity,

Thank you for your answers
