Hello-

I am worried about my job situation- I trained for a restaurant-- I went fine, untill, at the end of my training shift I asked for an advance on my training pay- I explained that
it was mentioned to me that there was training pay, and that i wouldnt necessarily ask but wasnt sure about the upcoming schedule etc, basically that i could use the cash as I had just moved-- I felt bad about asking, because a he said no- and said payday wasnt till tuesday, and pretty much seemed offended and miffed-- Since then I am worried as he seems to be putting me off when i call-
I asked the iching-- i'm worried i may have done something to offend this person, or that he might not offer me the position and received 27-25--
Any insight into this would be really appreciated- thanks

tiger on the prowl

Tabitha, here's my take (for what it's worth): 27 is about Nourishment, which I think definetely relates to your pay; line 4 talks about having the force and tenacity of a tiger who is after something she wants: go for it and don't give up, and maybe this situation will give you a better sense of your own worth in addition to the money you were promised.

Line 5 talks about acting outside the accepted rules; sounds like you stepped outside this guy's accepted rules, and he's chafing at it. But it may also be advice to you to step outside your OWN usual behavior or ways of interacting. Sounds to me like you were told you could have something, then asked for it -- but upon meeting resistance, you're blaming YOURSELF for upsetting this guy. I think these two lines, 27.4.5, are saying "Go for it. You don't have to be a jerk about it, you don't have to make it a federal case, but you're in the right and you need to start standing up for yourself. Don't just let this go, be like a tiger looking for his meal."

In this light, line 25, Disentangling (in Karcher's Total I Ching) might also suggest stepping away from old fears and habits, such as ways of dealing -- or NOT dealing -- with problems and confrontation. I'd say, be polite but firm, and if you need that money to nourish and keep you going, keep on this guy. You'll be okay, and the experience will teach you valuable lessons. Hope that helps.

Hex 27.4,5 > 25

Don't worry what you did was not wrong, you needed some money to tide you over, so you were not being greedy or anything, unfortunately it seems that by asking him you have indeed upset him. Don't ask him again, realize your position here. Therefore, just carry on with your job as though nothing has happened and let the incident go, don't annoy this guy as he seems to be a rather hard hearted person.
