I asked about my job. I ' m a pensioner (ex-teacher). However, I was asked to help migrants / refugees (mainly from Syria) learn German - a part time job, not badly paid.
But I somehow felt uneasy about this, it hasn't so far turned out to be really efficient.

What I got was 12 - "Standstill" - no lines moving.
Does it mean this is going to be a lasting experience?
In the background (Fu Hsi - arrangement) of 12 there's 18 - Work on what has been spoiled.
In which way does this refer to my "work" ?

It would appear to be a job where your best talents are not really utilised or noticed and overall this may not be at all a good experience for you so your uneasiness is well founded, this really doesn't seem to be the best place for you indeed I feel you may find it quite demoralising.

This might be a temporary standstill, I mean I have seen 12 appear at times in long term projects where it just describes a period of disconnection OR it may be a pronouncement on the whole job. What do you think ? If you feel you aren't really being known or appreciated for your skills then this cast would bear that out.

Thanks for responding!
@Nevermind: That was yesterday.

This is really helpful. Every word you say hits the nail (as we say in German).
Interesting your mentioning that it might be a temporary standstill.
Richard Wilhelm called this hexagramm "Die Stockung". I'm afraid the English translation "Standstill" is not a very accurate one. "Interruption" might get closer to it. "Stockung" is indeed a situation of a temporary stop, not a definite one - meaning that there may be some move following.

Couple of thoughts...
If you look at the sequence, hexagram 12, Standstill, follows hexagram 11. Peace, and comes before, 13. Friendship. this suggests to me that the lovely sense of gentle flow described in Peace has morphed into Standstill, like a watch that has run down and needs to be rewound. Another visual I get for 11. Peace is of a group of people getting on a roller coaster ride together. They don't know each other but they're all on this ride, the ups and downs, enjoying it together, and then finally the ride comes to the end, everybody gets out and the sense of camaraderie is no more, So that brings us to 12. Standstill where everything has come to a stop and everyone is disconnected but the lines describe how one dedicated person can get the flow going again by (13) consciously building connections with others.
So as far as your work is concerned I could see 12. Standstill as describing the circumstances of the people you are working with. They have been separated from everyone else and you are single handedly trying to help them build connections. Perhaps this can give you a clue as to how to go about teaching the class - put an emphasis on getting people to connect with each other. I'm thinking how often language classes have the teacher saying the word and the students repeating it back and it's all very tiresome. Perhaps if you were to write up some little skits with a bit of drama in them and have the students memorize and act out the parts so they are talking to each other it would make things more fun and lively. For example:
Mother: Get up, daughter. It's late!
Daughter: It's late?
Mother: Yes, it's late. It is nine o'clock!
Daughter: It is nine o'clock already?
Mother: Yes, it is nine o'clock already. Put on your dress. Put on your shoes. Hurry!
And so forth.
Another idea is to have them sing. People remember words much better when they are put to music and of course music makes things more fun too.

Good luck! And bless you for helping the refugees.

Thx rosada,
indeed, I should try to make my lessons a bit more lively. Why not include some songs - right.
Another translation of Pi might be "blockade". I had a look at the ideogram for Pi - which is a combination of "mouth" and "not". The greater part of the refugees I'm teaching is no more young, mot of them have had a poor education in their homeland. So they find it hard at times to "open their mouths". - Thanks again, it's encouraging to be reminded that 12 is followed by 13. :).
