My reading from yesterday. Two notable things in retrospect regarding interpreting the line.

1. It looks a bit like the Yi assumed a large margin victory, but was as ever cautionary. There is danger here. Be careful and pay attention to detail. "Do not proceed probing" perhaps means something like don't push people's buttons or gloat.
2. Here it describes election to leadership as being at the rear - still on the front line of danger, but normally one might think of being elected as being in front of something,. This might be counterintuitive to how one would interpret a line in a hex named "retreat." Perhaps the Brexit is being literally described here as retreat. Clearly all commentaries say it is best to be at the head of a retreat, as far as possible from the enemy so least likely to confront misfortune. But the commentaries also do describe retreat as a strategy for victory.

33.1 "At the tail of the retreat, danger. Do not proceed probing!
You are retreating from danger or trouble, maybe already solved a big part, but don't think this is it. You are still too close to it, so be careful, don't act impulsively, reckon with everything which still can go wrong, even if it seems small and unimportant."

Interesting. 33 generally describes removing one's self from an inferior situation. Could possibly describe the Brexit, maybe. The line describes being in between the hostile or inferior elements and everyone else in the retreat. Usually it is best to be as far from the inferior element as possible in a retreat. A dangerous situation, where caution is needed and attention to detail. Don't poke the bear!
If Johnson's Party prevails, it will be an interesting twist on 33.1, maybe describing being at the tail in a retreat as being similar to being at the front in an attack - the most dangerous place to be. <<<

How will Boris Johnson's Party do today?
The power of the dark is ascending against a backgound formed by the goals of humanity. We step into dangerous times - batten down the hatches.

Hex 33 - The power of the dark is ascending . The light retreats to security, so that the dark cannot encroach on it. This retreat is a matter not of man's will but of natural law.(Wilhelm)

line 1 - Keeping still is the easiest way of escaping from the threatening danger. (Wilhelm)
hex 13 - True fellowship among men must be based upon a concern that is universal. It is not the private interests of the individual that create lasting fellowship among men, but rather the goals of humanity. (Wilhelm)

.....or it may be nothing like this at all. Time will tell.

Good Luck.

My_key the question did not seek advice, it asked about what the situation would be. You substitute advice for the situation, to answer the question I would look to the image for the situation.
33.1>13
Single line - so 13 is the *context* - Mankind, ie voters. The questions was about the elections, so saying "mankind" / voters makes sense as the context.
The question was how the Party would do in the election. Johnson won by a landslide.
The Yi describes Johnson's landslide win as being at the tail in a retreat. That's a unique description I think, but can be seen as describing the Brexit. Being ruled by the EU is the adversarial power from which Britain is retreating. Boris would be negotiating the retreat - between the masses and the inferior power.
33.1 Wing: Your position in the situation is in close proximity to an adversary. It would have been to your advantage to Retreat earlier.

Hi Querent777
Looking at the question again I see that you are right and what I wrote did not align with the question. The question is more about how Boris Johnson's party will fare on the day of the election.

How will Boris Johnson's Party do today?
It seems to be more a question about how the party will perform and what will be the outcome of the vote from the British people on the day of the election.
So without knowing the outcome of the election when the cast was made, here's how I would have looked at it if it were my consultation.

Hex 13 - The Boris Johnson party will be in the hands of the electorate (voters) who are coming together to vote.
Hex 33 - On the day of the election the party will be able to step back from all the electioneering that has been going on so that they can advance later.( perhaps a sign of the victory to come)
line 1 - Today there is nothing more they can do (they are at the tail of the election campaign). Today they are in the same position as the other parties (the adversaries) and all they can do is wait.

Of course as in any reading it is unique to the interpreter and as humans are great meaning making machines many wide and varied aspects can be woven into the story of the divination interpretation. Your interpretation for you has equal validity to any other interpretation by anyone else.

Good Luck

Querent, you said ....
>>> "How will Boris Johnson's Party do today? 33.1>13 ....
.... and this made me curious, when did you ask this question? It reads like a pre-vote question because you ask how they 'will do' (e.g. how will the vote go); but the timing of your post makes it seem like you asked it after the vote, so I might interpret it as 'now that the Conservatives have won the vote, how will things go for them?'

So it made me wonder .....

It *was* prevote, actually I asked this question around midday during the election. I asked a similar question about how Democrats would do during the 2016 US elections and I got two lines that described people going home to their districts, and a lot of democrats did lose their seats.
My instinct was 33 was a literal image of the Brexit, with Johnson's Party in between the UK and the EU and in negotiations going to have to pay attention to a lot of details and not take anythig for granted. And that it was so matter of fact it was saying Johnson's Party's success was a done deal.
Side note, the idea about it not being fortunate to undertake anything. In hex 54 which is largely about how to make a polygamous marriage work, it says undertaking brings misforutne and also advises against them.
I have come to take the meaning to be "don't try to bury the competition" (like an literal undertaker.) Don't scheme and plot and backstab or a polygamous situation will not be harmonious.
I'm thinking here it is a similar advice - in a pluralistic context - when it says it's better not to do anything.
