Yeah, although I'm not particularly familiar with Corinthians, I think the passage you cited harmonizes nicely with 23.6.
It's the Jesus teachings themselves that are the benchmark for me, though. Can you think of something in either the four gospels or the gnostic or apocryphal or Muslim tradition of Jesus that addresses 23.6? I can think of bits where he talked about negative outcomes like being cast into the darkness and wailing and gnashing of teeth, and I can think of bits like the prodigal son where there's a good outcome in the end. But what about a 23.6 outcome, which combines and contrasts...? Ah! What about the wise virgins and the oil? That's one, right?
I know what you mean. This is why I keep Buddha around my wrist and Jesus in my pocket. So they'll be there when I too am stripped away.
