Well, I was wondering when Trojan would speak up, since she is a very no nonsense person:eek:

 this time i was determined not to be the miserable old grouch who questioned this thread and rained on parades and so on - but now I see you were just waiting for me to do that

No nonsense no, unless its my own nonsense in which case its perfectly acceptable of course :D

I asked the I Ching to comment on this thread, just what the heck is it's point, value or whatever? I received 40.2.6>35. I have no idea what 40.2.6 is refering to, but I like 35:
"The superior man himself brightens his bright virtue." That sounds like it might mean something.

absinthe?

Kiwi fruit. Heh.

What's an "absinthe"?

Ah-HA. What are you implying Bruce? (Or imbibing)

"Absinthe (AB-sinth) - An anise-flavored liqueur that is made by steeping wormwood and other aromatic herbs (hyssop, lemon balm, and angelica) in alcohol. The drink is distinguished by its dazzling blue-green clarity due to its chlorophyll content. It was traditionally served with water and a cube of sugar; the sugar cube was placed on an "absinthe spoon" and the liquor was drizzled over the sugar into the glass of water. The sugar helped take the bitter edge from the absinthe, and when poured into the water the liquor turned milky white. Absinthe was believed to raise the drinker’s consciousness, insights, and emotional experience to another level altogether. Unfortunately, it also caused terrible hallucinations, permanent neural damage, as seen in the dazed condition of dedicated drinkers, and even its own diseases, known as absinthism, recognized as early as the 1850s."

This could explain a lot Bruce...Lucy in the sky with Diamonds...lol

Aw, Blink, I wouldn't take it to heart. Us old timers always need something to complain about. ;)

Yeah, Blink and Ken and others, please note we're on 31.6 over on the Memorizing thread, "The influence shows itself in the jaws, cheeks, and tongue." As Bruce has said, we have to chatter about something! Even so, I would be interested in knowing what those who were trying this experiment experienced. Did you feel you had a heightened experience of the I Ching when you posted your hexagrams on the forum? I note that my one posting at the beginning seems to be playing itself out here not in one day but it seems to encapsulate the entire run. At the beginning I tossed 58.2.4>51. 58.2 Joy - our cheerful postings, next 58.4 Weighing pleasures and questioning what the heck are we doing here, and then 51.Shock --oh, oh! --ha, ha! Examining ourselves and the whole thread blowing up with a laugh!

One thing I noticed when tossing daily is that, when I received the positive readings with words like 'auspicious', blessings' , 'success', etc, these were followed by 'nothing special' kind of days :\

Maybe, just making it thru the day is the blessing.

But, the negative readings were more spot on. Bad things usually 'did' happen....wth?

Ouch! But I think you are right, making it through the day IS a blessing and it's good to be reminded of that. It sounds like posting your toss for The Whole Universe didn't particularly seem to make a differance, however? Hmm..okay, good to know. Thanks for playing.

Rosada, sorry but I don't understand your statement ?

Oh never mind, I get it...But, if you guy's look through this thread from the beginning, you will see that the 'experts' on the board were doing the same thing that we were doing...Check it out :\

At what point did it become unacceptable?

Not that I'm approaching anything remotely resembling expertise in this department but I'll answer the above with this: The key word here is: "beginning" and some things outlive their usefulness pretty quick when they just become a number :D

Nah, just kidding Blink. No one is saying it's unacceptable - not at all. I suppose it just seemed a bit pointless after a bit - at least without accompanying explanations. But hey, it's not of earth-shattering importance - just some good-humoured observations. Now then....

Today's fruit: Mango
Today's mood: Crabby (I'm Cancerian as well)
Today's weather: Warm scattered showers
Todays song in shower: Sweet Jane by Cowboy Junkies
Today's sock colour: Blue
Today's underwear: Pink silk
Todays Lunch: Tuna Salad and mixed rice.
Todays gripe: Hearing George W. Bush spouting more crap
Today's Hex: 21 (It was a day with many problems which I needed to confront head on)
Todays word: Gobble

:D

Smooth gear shift there, Topal.

Today's fruit: fig
Today's mood: spacey. (you know, like when you make a fresh pot of coffee from fresh ground beans, then pour it down the drain to make a fresh pot of coffee.)
Today's weather: hot
Todays song in shower: red house over yonder/Jimi Hendrix
Today's sock colour: gray
Today's underwear: gray (matching was strictly incidental.. I got lucky)
Todays Lunch: tuna
Todays gripe: my %**%! guitar strings haven't arrived yet!
Today's Hex: 8.4,5,6-35
Today's word: huh?

Red House

Oh, yeah

There's a red house over yonder
That's where my baby stays
Lord, there's a red house over yonder
Lord, that's where my baby stays
I ain't been home to see my baby
In ninety-nine and one half days

Wait a minute something's wrong here
The key won't unlock this door
Wait a minute something's wrong
Lord, have mercy this key won't unlock this door
Somethin's goin' on here
I have a bad, bad feeling
That my baby don't live here no more
That's alright, I still got my guitar
Look out now...

Yeah, that's alright
I still got my guitar

Well, I might as well go back over yonder
Way back up on the hill
That's something to do
Lord, I might as well go back over yonder
Way back yonder 'cross the hill
'Cause if my baby don't love me no more
I know her sister will

I found my ability to remember and get guidance from my hexagram was particularly good today, so I am going to continue with this project. If people feel to give us some feedback about their experiences I'd be interested in reading them, but I know that can be too personal or just feel like a chore, so know that just posting your I Ching for the day is sufficient for this thread.[/QUOTE]

Ok so way back in the mists of time Rosada invited people just to post their answers with no comments - ? personally like i said before IMO sharing observations etc about your daily hex may be a project of value -but just giving the numbers is well - - quite a baffling activity - harmless yes - but baffling outside of a personal journal.

Just posting hex numbers isn't unacceptable, just baffling, what does knowing that you got hexagram x today do for me or anyone if you do not comment on how your day went.

Blink noone wants to inhibit your entries but it would be more interesting if you went a bit further than just the numbers if you're going to do it. Like I see you had 26 unchanging 2 days - I'm intrigued to know how these days went - did they have similar events or feelings ? overall have you found casting daily helps significantly in your daily life ?

(still this diversion has bought up some interesting facts, who'd have thought Topal wore pink silk underwear or that Bruce wears grey socks even in very hot weather  )

Hex for the day is 25. Earlier in this thread, I reported the 'ghost' who ate the potato chips on the day of 46 line 2. Today I saw not one, but two foxes, on the morning walk. Foxes have always been lucky for me. But let's see, hmmmm, we see the Nepal airlines has sacrificed two goats to keep their planes in the sky:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070904/od_nm/nepal_airline_odd_dc

25 can go either way, so I'll let you know at the end of the day, whenever that is.

I can tell you my state of mind while throwing this: I was thinking of this thread, feeling for blink and magictortoise, who have been recording here, and I said "oh what the heck i'll do one for the day again". Then, as the bottom yang, and then two yin stacked on top of each other, I thought "Uh oh, looks like this might be 25, no, there's still time, may not be 25" and as two more yang lines appeared, "uh oh, it's either 25 or or 17 and what if I get the line change at the top...???" and a small wave of panic ensued, but hey, I've been throwing these coins for years now, been through ALL kinds of nasty changes lines, that I have indeed listened to with filial piety, gosh darn it all, so I can take it, if it's 25 line change at the top, so be it and go ahead and empty the mind and

ahhh, it's a solid yang line. RELIEF. a solid 25 for the day, solid is a good way to get this hex, that is,...uh oh.... I hope so. Working with the changes, one never knows.....

but all that drama packerd into one peaceful morning is exactly why I don't normally do one for the day. The judgements can be so absolute, it's just too much charge for the superego.

I did find myself very nervous for magictortoise on the days where he had 29.

Since I do the same kind of thing when tossing coins...already calculating, already knowing what MIGHT be popping up... I have always wondered if that doesnt cause our throws to be a little nervously slanted ...in other words, does it affect the throw? It is hard to say, but it might. Like if i throw yang, yin, yin, yin, yin.....then boy I dont want that last line to be changing yin....
and many times, i have been right on the verge of getting 14 --oh goody!--and then damn, it becomes 34....then I am 'trying too hard' i always think. and then I wonder if it really was meant to be a 14 but I got my hand slapped. (and please lets not argue again as to whether the Yi slaps one's hand:))
(it does:mischief:)

But i guess the coins fall where they fall..or maybe not.
I have read that you best clear your mind before throwing coins, or at least to be open to all possibilites. be sort of, well, 25 about it all.

Hollis, 25.0 brings to mind a line from an old joni mitchell song...
" sunny day..
braiding wild flowers and leaves in my hair...."
(ahhh, there's a joni mitchell song for everything! her albums are my oracle)

Hope you had that kind of 25 day:) Do tell!

For some reason, I have enjoyed these daily postings. I dont really know why.
