1.1.6 astrology + predictions

I'm an astrologer so I thought it would be fun to use the I-Ching to try some predictions, giving me a concrete way to then later see what actually happens and relate it back to the casting.

Question: "What will change for me over eclipse season"
Yi: 1.1.6

(upcoming eclipses are May 26th and June 10th, although the influence can be felt extending outward about 4-6 weeks on either side)

It's possible this is just too general a question, hence a response I'm having more trouble interpreting, but this one seems very internal to me? The first thought had was "potential energy" (like in physics) "the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to others, stresses within itself, electric charge, and other factors." Almost as if a major internal process is happening but not much of it will manifest outwardly right now. This fits, yet again, with Yi telling me to stay relatively still right now, attend to the small, humble myself, and see what comes from that.

Edit: I do also have a need to produce new creative work, just for my own survival/earning a living, so I've generally been challenged by "not quite yet" type messages for projects I've asked about. Could this also be a creative time of brewing new projects? That's what I would want but "Submerged dragon. No employ." and "Overbearing dragon. There is regret." don't exactly look like green lights to me. Lol!

Lines 1 and 6 changing in a casting always looks important somehow but I don't quite grasp exactly what it means, other than maybe covering the energy of the casting top to bottom, like the full treatment of this Hex? Seems a bit mysterious with Hex 1 so I'll need to read up more I suppose.

Looking at the lines, and how they might be responding to your question:

* What will change for me over eclipse season? - Line 1.1 : A dragon lies beneath the lake. No action to take. Here the dragon is still hibernating beneath the lake. Looking at the trigram movement, here you have Heaven (with line 1) moving to Wind: so this is a time of exploring, looking at different possibilities, seeing/ sensing what information the world is giving you, and then considering how you might respond.

* What will change for me over eclipse season? - Line 1.6: A dragon soaring away. There will be trouble. The trigram movement here is Heaven (with line 6) moving to Lake. Again, you are being advised that this is a time for exploring, looking at possibilities but not necessarily a time (just yet) to act on what you're learning (not a time for 'soaring away'). Trigram Lake denotes both a time of joy (associated with the fall harvest), and a time to consider a shaman's or diviner's point of view - to be open to greater influences / things (Lake has an open line at the top.).

So, what will change during these eclipse times for you? These could be (or will be) times for exploring possibilities, for considering the information you are receiving from the world, and what this might mean; these are times of joy and a time to consider unique ways of seeing - that this information you're getting might be coming to you in unique ways (how a shaman might see the world).

You might also be interested in Bradford Hatcher's work with the Yi and how he makes correspondences (connections, resonances) between different hermetic tools: Yijing, Tarot, Astrology and Qabalah. His versions of the Yi (free PDF) contains these correspondences, as does his writing about Tarot as a Counselling Language.

For example, he associated Hex 1 with the Two of Swords (Tarot); Uranus in Air Signs and Houses (Astrology); and the Chokmah in Yetzirah (Qabalah). I don't know if these are correct (or not) - and I don't always understand them - but I have found them interesting and informative.

Thank you so much for an incredibly thoughtful reply. Your interpretation feels very true, I’m definitely in a time that I feel things changing and the need to expand, but it’s not really externally visible yet.

I will definitely look into this other work, very interested to see the connections. The correlation with Uranus is interesting because it’s been figuring so heavily in the recent astrology (also quite important in my own chart).

Both of those make sense. (Or maybe even asking something I’m not supposed to know until it unfolds?) I appreciate your response, I hadn’t known the association with limited awareness.

Eclipses are intense. Try defining which houses are involved, which aspects and midpoints are triggered, and then ask about the most important thing to you in the resulting list. I do this and it does seem to help.

Yes this makes a lot of sense! I think using an astro prediction and asking Yi for insight around it seems like a great idea.

For example, do not sign a business deal in that time frame.

Furthermore, it may not be a case of arrogance in line 6 but unawareness of certain unforseen elements.
The oracle maybe simply may be making you aware of this.

I was just thinking that the advice by ZeroPoint & Rosada are kind of the same as mine, line 6 maybe suggesting you study the chart and look for weakness's. This way you are in the know.

I agree with this! It really fits with the overall message I’ve been receiving that it’s not a time to charge ahead. It’s not aligned and I do think there is a lot I’m not aware yet. I will often just press and press to try to “know”, using all the tools and methods I have, only to realize how much I can’t know yet. Although I suppose knowing is don’t know is something and can prevent me from trying to force things prematurely.
