I have been talking to a new guy for about 2 weeks (mostly texts). We have had 2 very informal and relatively quick "meet ups" where we have had a drink or two and parted ways happy. Its all been very good. He told me from the start he wanted to move slow and see where things go.
So my first question to Yi BEFORE our first "meet and greet" was:
- what does the future look like with "L" .... and I received 60.1.4.5.6>64. I took that to mean that we were both "feeling each out" (hex 60) and there was a lot of chaos (hex 64) but it will sort itself out. And that's definitely how its been - we are both extremely busy people and full schedules.

then I asked AFTER our second "meet":
- what does the relationship look like at this point? ... and I received 53.1.2.3.6 > 60 I took this to mean that we are moving at a slow and steady pace to build something that could last (hex 53). Which kinda points back to what he said he wanted in the beginning. But then we go back to Hex 60 - limitations/stop. What does that mean???

So then.... I asked if we would see each this week for a true dinner date? I received:
16.1.4 > 24
I took that to mean that, yes, we would go to dinner (hex 16) ... but I am thrown by the changing to 24. When I was focusing on the question, I had in mind going out to a restaurant, sitting on the patio, listening to some live music as we ate dinner. 16 seems to totally embrace that idea.
But 24.... could that mean that maybe we should cook dinner at one of our houses where it is more intimate?

I am confused!!! How do y'all interpret 16>24?

thanks in advance! ~Lorna

Also - I just read the Judgment Poem for Hex 24 and its says:
Going out and coming in without error.
Friends come without blame.
To and fro goes the way.
On the 7th Day comes return.
It furthers one to have somewhere to go.

Does this point to going out for dinner?

Hey

I am not saying will but looks favourable line 4 especially with 24 you could literaly take this as you cook at home.

Thats what i see in the lines however i am not there I can only go by the question and the lines.

Update me so we can see

Hi lorna,

The whole reading seems promising, but still very early days to tell.

Your first question was about what the future might hold and you had hex 60.1.4.5.6 > 64 which is an interesting reading for a relationship because it goes beyond the romantic aspect of it. Hex 60 talks about agreements and mutual arrangements. So you decide together what sort of partnership this should be. You have agreed already on taking it slowly but if the relationship goes further then there will be other, and much wider, agreements on the table.

Hex 53.1.2.3.6 > 60 gave you an instant picture of the moment , as it was your question, with hex 60 again playing already in the background.

Then you come to the prospect of a proper dinner date and I would say that hex 16.1.4 > seems to work fine with the idea of enjoying music, food, good company. With hex 16 is always a good idea to keep your feet on the ground. There's already a warning on line 1 not to be carried away and placing too high expectation on him. But line 4 sounds good for getting together. In my view, hex 24 ( your relating hex) is a good reminder that life works back and forth. After stress, there's rest. After unhappiness there's joy, we are always going back to the starting point, and getting into a new cycle. I don't see, however, anywhere saying where this date should be (restaurant? your/his place?). But then if we look at the question this was not what you asked anyway. Hope that helps :bows:

thanks Steve and Mirian for your responses!

by way of a mid week update...so far we have not set up a date. I asked him Tuesday morning (via text) if he wanted to get together on Friday evening. His reply was committed to going to a fundraiser in his hometown (about 30 mins away). He told me he had a busy week ahead but we could try to get together. I am not going to make any suggestions or bring it up again. I guess there's still Thursday and Saturday to get together...so I am trying to just relax while the time passes. The first two get-togethers were planned very quick and spontaneous so I guess that's what could happen here too. I'm just such a planner and very active so I like to plan my time - so all this waiting and being patient is hard!!

On a side note - I just asked Yi "what is the vision of a Long Term Relationship with L" and I got 46.2>15. Again with the being patient and letting things unfold at their own pace!!! I've never gotten hex 15 before - so I'm going to look into that. Humility/balance - seems to fit with the other hexagrams and also seems stable to get for such a question.

Hi lorna,

Thanks for updating. I still think that you stand a chance with 46.2 >15 but you have already made a move, suggesting a get together this week, so that tallies with line 2 (making an offering, not following convention). So there's nothing else you can do (hex 15). I would also suggest you to keep in sight all the readings, from the start, because all together the hexagrams and lines provide you with the big picture.

Maybe 24 was meaning just what you have been doing, r.elaxing with yourself, the lines did see very positive maybe something will evolve but not in the time frame you are expecting

Well... We never got together. He had several "events"!that he was going to so I assume that hex 16 was for his activities and not something between us.
I have texted him a couple of times since and no reply. Glad I didn't invest more than a few hours in this guy!!

So it appears 24 was simply getting back to yourself, i thought maybe it could mean something literal due to the question but the Yi was looking at everything on a deeper level as usual.
In hindsight 24.4 was telling you this guy is a repeat offender , this is the way he is so dont waste your time,

Hi lorna,

Sorry to hear things haven't worked out. Your readings did offer some prospects of this somehow going forward but there were warnings too. It is so important to keep the big picture in sight especially with a situation at a very early stage like this. You see, I had hex 60 with very similar changing lines as a prediction of my own marriage but it was not in isolation, but part of a set of readings. So I have learned that the big picture and context do matter.

I don't mean to rain on a parade, but the 53.1.2.3.6>60 reading seems to show a relationship that takes an unfortunate turn at that 53.3. The I Ching says that the man goes off on an expedition and the woman does not nurture the offspring. In other words, obstacles arise, which is what that hex 60 has been saying repeatedly. In the end, this is one "marriage" that will probably never be consummated sexually. You and he will skip that step entirely and become good friends, most likely.
