Hi all,

I am single, and wanting to remain so until I finish my PhD by the end of this year. However, I've been missing being with a guy for a change in this very solitary phase. I've been avoiding even having quick flings due to fear of becoming emotionally involved and losing my precious concentration. But there is this cute Russian guy who has been clearly into me for months. Lately I've been feeling more inclined to consider the possibility of being very honest with him and try going for something light. I asked I-Ching if I should give him a chance, but being honest that I am not open to a relationship at this point.

I received hexagram 17, Following, with lines 4 and 5, turning into 24, the Turning Point.

I see two possibilities of interpretation. The first one is based on line 4 as meaning do not go for it. You would catch him, but this would be a distraction, or not worth it. Or maybe be flattered that the cute Russian likes you, but do not persevere in this thought.

Line 5 would reinforce since I should follow my lodestar (my dissertation and PhD);

However, it could also be that I could go in and out without error (hexagram 24), provided I remained conscious that this is only to decompress and I keep my PhD goal, my lodestar very strong in my mind.

Sometimes it is hard to know if we are reading what we would like to read (go for it :blush: ).

Kind regards, Pagu

17 offers two conflicting moving lines, but the fifth is very good in a very good gua for what you want to do on all counts. It is about meeting goals and taking action. It is about the strong--men--following the weak--women. I mean, really, a small slight affair s going to disrupt writing a PhD thesis? Take action, return. 24 could also indicate that this cute Russian may have more than one woman in his life and thus won't be such a burden to you. Well, these thoughts come naturally in the beginning of the spring.
