How does one learn to read the Iching like willow fox, any advice on this matter would be appreciated? Can the Yi be used to forecast the future?

But I had to ask the Iching: where is the person who i will share my life with?

I receieved 2 K'un - The Receptive, The First Line Changing. The Last hexagram was 23 Po - Spillting Apart. Are these really good signs or does it mean It'll end up in Divorce or something along the lines of that?

To top it off I then asked the Iching: What's preventing me from meeting the person mentioned above?

I received unchanging 7 Shih - The Army. Does this mean I have a lot of work to do on my-self before I meet this person.

Warm Regards?

Some good questions there - I'll muse a bit on them!

To build up a relationship with the Yi you have to know it takes time - as with anything - to achieve a kind of "resonance." Or so it seems to me anyway. Obtain as many different interpretations as you can and read, read, read. You might want to keep a journal of all your questions and readings - that way you build up a personal record of not just the hex's and their lines - but a pattern of you. Self-knowledge. How you are learning and applying the IC system of knowledge.

One thing about the Tao and the IC teachings in general and which seems to occur in so many genuine ancient spiritual traditions, is the idea that we cannot force the Universe into our small bottle of wishes and desires. We have to trust the Tao / Universe to provide what we need - not what we want necessarily. They aren't mutually exclusive either. Provided we don't let the ego take centre stage in place of the natural order. So, Hex 2 is a perfect response. Be an open vessel, surrender; let go and have faith. It doesn't mean passivity and submissiveness perhaps, but I think it does mean letting the seed of Creativity be planted within you; allowing time for stillness and patience for that process to work. That often means 23 - the stripping away of illusions and all the conditioning we have been subject to for so long. Which leads onto your next question:

"But I had to ask the Iching: where is the person who i will share my life with?"

There's SO many folks asking that question. I've certainly asked it many times. I think the problem here is the mere fact we are asking such a question means that we are assuming that this emptiness can be filled by another person. It might even work for a while. There are a lot of co-dependent folks out there rather that two independent souls creating something together. Society tells us that we are abnormal if we don't follow the "romantic" factory line. The reality is somewhat different.

I think in order to let that person naturally appear that void has to be filled in with our own emotional strength and energy accumulated from our own experiences, which in turn means we have the requisite energy of peace and self-knowledge which sustains us. We gotta learn to be ourselves by rooting out any negative blocks that may be impeding the expression of our fullest potential. When we make a concerted attempt, over whatever period of time - which will vary for everyone - then that person will naturally arrive without any force of need whatsoever.

Once we do the work on ourselves sincerely, that person will arrive - often unexpectedly as we are no longer anticipating such a "momentous" event. That means we have to let go of the conditioning and become as independent and as authentic as we can. Let go of all the thoughts that tell us we need this or that to be whole. Become as whole as we can independently first, then the resonance we set up will attract that partner to us by default. That's the theory ;)

Hex 7 might indicate the letting go and standing on your own two feet first in this regard - stopping too much future-thinking which can and does restrict the flow of a multitude of possibilities. So, yeah it might mean that you "have a lot of work to do" on yourself - haven't we all? If we so choose...

It depends what you want. I think most of us could find a relationship if we wanted to. The quality of the that relationship is another matter...Plenty of folks prefer to lie to themselves that they are in love with the person they are with than to face the world for a period of time - horror of horrors! - ALONE. Sometimes that is necessary though. We can't forcibly run after and force into existence such a thing. Plenty try to do it and may even get results - but it's usually transitory. (aside from the fact that destiny will operate differently in every case).

So, yes, you are preventing such a possibility by your needs and desires on this issue. At least that's how I see it. You gotta let go.

Not easy huh? :brickwall: Anyhow, thanks for this opportunity to muse, and I hoped it helped a little bit. Hang in there!:)

Well, it takes lots of study, practice and dedication.

Yes, the IC can be used for telling the "possible" future.

I had to ask the Iching: where is the person who i will share my life with?

I received 2 K'un, The First Line Changing, Last hexagram was 23

This suggests that the person is certainly out there but you must not only be patient but you must be alert as well to any potential relationship that presents itself. It is basically about letting nature take its course, you will experience bleak times ahead but they don't last forever, just like winter will give way to spring and summer so be patient.

Hex 23 just says that you are going through a bad patch relationship wise at the moment, so hold your horses and wait for the snow to melt, things will improve in due course.

As to where this person is physically, they are down by the river.

If the first line of hexagram 2 changes, you get hexagram 24, not 23. Are you counting from the bottom up or the top down? The bottom line is the first line.
