What should I meditate on?

24.1.5.6 > 20

Been getting 24 in many of my consultations. I know I'm at a turning point in my life - not sure if I need to change directions altogether, though.

But the lines concern me, in this case.

Nine at the beginning: slight digressions from the good - is this a warning? Am I avoiding changes?

Six at the fifth place: looking within, confess his fault - self-examination to find out where I have made mistakes. I see this line as an advice to think about what I'm doing about my life.

What worries me the most is the six at the top: missing the right time for return. Is the Yi telling me that I already missed it? Am I taking a wrong attitude toward the world?

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

When there are three lines I just focus on the middle one. Meditate on a beautiful beginning (return). Hexagram 20 is all about self-examination, so it's good to observe what is around you and to plan what's going to happen next. I think you are on the right track, so good luck!

Thank you for your insight, juaneros :)

As a rookie at the Yi, I didn't know about the option of focusing on the middle line whenever I get 3 lines. What about 4 or more changing lines? What's your take on it?

The answer I got from the Yi (as explained by you) makes me want to ask more questions. All the changes in my life are happening without my personal interference and I'm not sure what exactly I should personally focus on changing. I guess I'm aware of my surroundings but I don't have any other plans other than the ones I've already had.

What kind of questions should I make to the Yi so I can get the most of it? Any advices?
Thank you!

I think the 24.6 is warning you of some return that you need to make but are in danger of overlooking. I had this a couple of times in my life and sometimes it took awhile for me to figure out what Yi was pointing to. Usually the return referred to is some kind of return to strength or return to yourself.

Oh, the changing lines and which one to focus on is always the tough thing in the beginning, and it's not the same for all IC casters, some do focus on reading all the lines they get, but for me it has worked great just concentrating on one line.

1 changing line-- just focus on it and not really on the resulting hexagram, but sometimes the resulting hexagram does make sense. Also the main hexagram can help out as well.

2 changing lines-- if it's two of the same (two yin changing or two yang changing) then concentrate on the highest one, if it's (one yin 6 and one yang 9) then concentrate on the yin line changing. Also the main and changing hexagrams.

3 chaning lines-- the middle one and the main and changing hexagram.

4 changing lines-- just on the hexagrams and the highest line that didn't change.

5 changing line-- just on the hexagrams and the line that didn't change.

6 chaning lines-- just on the hexagrams, and if it's hex 1 or 2 there are special meanings if all lines are changing.

Well, that is how I've been interpreting lines for a while, other people do it differently, I think there is no correct way but sticking to it makes it easier bcs the IC will know how you interpret it and give you responses that way. And well there are so many questions to ask for the I ching... I just say keep it simple and don't confuse yourself at the end, hehe. I think I have a list I've taken before from this youtube video... I'll post them here.

1. Dear Ancestors of the I Ching, Please comment on my most immediate incarnation objective.

2. What is the most immediate path I should take towards peace?

3. What are my most immediate liabilities that I must strengthen?

4. What are my most immediate assets that I must cultivate?

5. What should be my overall focus for this day?

6. What did I accomplish today?

7. Please comment on... my perception of what was said to me by...

8. How should I view what was said to me by...

9. Please comment on the nature of ______'s intengrity to the discussion we had concerning their 1. faithfuness or 2. honesty.

10. How would it benefit me to _________ ?

11. How will it benefit me to be in a relationship with ______ emotionally, spiritually, psychically?

12. How should I conduct myself during/at...?

Anyhow. Hope they come in handy. You're welcome.

Thank you for your insight, ginnie - I've been facing an emotional loss and I think that's what might make me overlook my "returning".

And thank you, juaneros!

That's an interesting approach on reading changing lines, juaneros. I'll try to do the same here :)
And thank you so much for the list - the do come in handy!
