25, difference between line 1 and line 6

At first I thought these were the same line, but one indicated fortune and one indicated misfortune. But then I realized the first said innocent behavior and the 6th one said innocent action. I got some insight from Lises interpretation, but would like some other thoughts.

BTW, the actual reading was 25 to 40, so there were 4 moving lines, but I mainly want insight into 1 and 6.

Just by way of explanation, everything the last few days has been very positive, and then all of a sudden I got a couple of seemingly negative readings. I did my usual panic, ask 30,000 questions (ok, a bit of an exaggation, but you get the idea), then decided that something was obviously amiss. Hey, at least for once I didn't come here and irritate everyone with my 30,000 questions, yeah me

So I took a deep breath, cleared my head and simply asked what do I need to do? I think line 2 was very clearly trying to tell me to stop focusing on the outcome. I think this reading might also be telling me that I am allowing the positive readings to make me arrogant, which could cause me to make mistakes, or maybe just reminding me that even when the signs are positive, nothing is a done deal until it happens. This is the book of changes, and changes happen everyday. Hmmm, brings up another thought, but unrelated so I will post it on another thread.

You're asking about the lines themselves, but I think the key to their difference is actually external circumstances. For the querent receiving 25.1, innocent action is a good idea because external circumstances favor the action, for the one receiving 25.6 it's not, because the situation is adverse.

The truth is that there are often environments/circumstances where innocence is a liability, not an advantage. An American wouldn't be wise to walk around preaching love and peace in Iraq right now, no matter how well-intentioned.

25 is somehow very much in the present, disconnected from the past and the future.
A discontinuity. The sky is clear and suddenly there is a bolt of lightning. Where does it come from and what remains of it afterward? It comes from nowhere and leaves no trace.
"Moment after moment, everyone comes out of nothingness. This is the true joy of life."
This is from "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" by Shunryu Suzuki. And maybe that is the problem in line 6.
In this line the mind is no longer a beginner's mind. It has lived through the whole cycle of experience and has become entangled or at least involved. It is a mind with a past.
For such a mind it is difficult to act spontaneously, intuitively, out of nothingness. Hence the caution, better wait. Till the next cycle.

That's an interesting perspective, Martin - that would make 25.6 a bit like 61.6, MHO... and I've definitely been *there*.

Ok, but how do you differtiate what to do when you get both in the same reading? Are they choices or one following the other? And is it significant that Wilhelm defines one as action and the other as behavior. These are similar but not the same. Action implies movement, while behavior implies response or how something works.

"Ok, but how do you differtiate what to do when you get both in the same reading?"

A fair question, Seek, and one I can't answer well without knowing the specifics of your situation (and possibly not even then). *Probably* some aspect of what you're planning is good/will work out well, while another aspect of it isn't/won't. Or it will work if you approach it in a particular way, but won't if you approach it in a different way. Something like that.

MHO, you will have to sit and think about it and be honest with yourself to figure out that nuance.

BTW, the time I drew both those of those lines in a reading was when I asked "Is it *always* a good idea to do the right thing."

Sure you do Jeff, same situation its been for a while, pining for someone who chose someone else.

You said something about what I'm planning, and Yi has mentioned that too, but I'm not planning anything. It isn't like I have some great strategy to woo him back, unless you count sitting around being hopeful. I did email him to say happy birthday, but other than that my only plan is to go forward with my life as best I can and follow hex 2, which I had a barrage of for a while, if he comes back. Actually, I guess I am pretty following hex 2 now, or at least I'm trying to.

And I'm still wondering if there is a difference in the lines due to the words behavior and action. Huang defines the first line as his will will be fulfilled and the last one as not taking action, act in accordance with the proper time and the most favorable conditions.
