What will be the effect of my decision not to work overtime at the new job when it comes to my employment with the company?
50.2.3.5.6 to 45.

O.k. please don't let the question I asked influence the way you might see the answer.
In brief, I don't want to work overtime. Never been my goal, never will be. I don't dream of a great salary or great possessions, I dream of work - life balance and my goal is to find a job with normal working hours that I don't hate. :)

I started working last week after being unemployed for several months. There was no talk throughout the selection process about long working hours. Truth to be told it's a public company and chances of working overtime are smaller in such organisations - at least I thought so. Luckily the first week I didn't have to stay longer since my supervisor is on holiday but by talking to a girl who works with me at the office they have long working hours - hence they employed one more person i.e. me. This girl is sick of such working conditions, and apparently my supervisor is a workaholic (I've figured by observing certain things about her) and she works very, very long hours and is waaay more ambitious than I am. I sincerely hope that my presence will help them in not working overtime. But if I see that it is expected of me to stay overtime on regular basis I plan to have a chat with my supervisor during the first 4 months of my probation time to clear that out - after all that is the time when we need to see whether I'ma good match for a company and vice-versa.

I expected I ching to give me a very, very unfavourable answer, and I don't see it as one which makes me very confused ?

I see it as "many hands make light work". Hexagram 45: you're working towards something together, you and your co-workers all have the same interests in completing the tasks you're given. There probably won't be any need for you to stay overtime on regular basis.

I'd add that the transforming lines indicate that by you doing a few overtimes the general workload of the all (office) will be reduced. {6 at 5th: The Vessel[you]: yellow ears, metallic rings. Advantageous Trial. Harvesting.} I read this as the idea you had to bring this up to management is a profitable one. Do not do it hastily, though. This has the potential to further open the door to your Tao.
