53 uc How beneficial to give my car to my daughter?

I started teaching my daughter to drive my car today which is a stick shift. I was worried that it doesn’t have the best view of the blind spot but we discovered that taking the head rest out gives better clearance. She didn’t want her first car to be a stick shift but she is learning very well after only one day of training with me and I think she’s much more confident now. I was actually impressed at how quickly she’s learning! Does 53 mean to take it slowly for a while before giving her my car? I do need to sane money anyway for a new car and I know it will take a while for her to be completely comfortable driving. My only other concern is the back windows have the darkest legal tint but we live in AZ and it’s very sunny. I’ve driven the car for 8 years so it’s got high miles but it’s a Honda. It seems the hexagram doesn’t show any major issues and it is a Honda which lasts a long time. Does an unchanging hexagram mean it’s stagnant though like she will resist having an older car? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi!
When I get an unchanging hex, I tend to see it as an entire book on the subject of the hex. A changing line is like a specific chapter in the book. I would say yes, slow and using the right protocol/procedure. But if you Google “53 UC Clarity” you’ll find a whole thread on ppls experiences with 53 UC. Let us know what you think!!

Oh - and here’s some more interesting points for 53 UC - It follows after 52, this is from Hilary:
From Hexagram 52, Keeping Still - the mountain trigram doubled.

'Things cannot end at a standstill, and so gradual development follows. Gradual development means advancing.'

With 52 you establish your moral/ emotional independence, you are not moved. Total self-sufficiency, closing oneself off from outside influences is not an end in itself - doesn't allow for any development. Also, things don't just stop growing.

In addition, 53 needs its foundation in 52. No way can you sustain the gradual development of 53 if you are still reactive or needy. You'd never have the patience. Wanting to share your life with someone is a long way from needing them.
She also compares it with how it differs from 54, which would be like being dropped in the deep end with no control. With 53, if there is to be real partnership or union at all, the two must move together, so both must move at the pace of the slower partner.

I find it interesting to see that you actually give the answer to your question yourself in the description of the situation. I think H53uc shows exactly that. H53 is the hexagram of steady processes, of developments that take a long period of time to reach their completion.
The text of Judgment talks about "The maiden is given in marriage." Before a marriage (an agreement) is made, all kinds of arrangements are made in advance and it takes time before both parties come to an agreement that is right for both of them. The text goes on to say: Good fortune. It is beneficial to persevere"
Will this go off without a hitch? Perhaps not, the image of H53 is that of a tree on a mountain. On top of the mountain, the tree is exposed to all kinds of weather conditions without any protection, nevertheless, it continues to grow, becoming a sturdy tree that can take a beating. So there may be some situations that turn out to be challenging for both of you, but by moving forward you will both become "stronger" for it.

Does an unchanging hexagram mean it’s stagnant though like she will resist having an older car?
No, as I see it, unchanging hexagrams are a kind of background or scenery against which life or a situation takes place.

Tip: To know what an unchanging hexagram is about, or to get a better understanding of a hexagram, it can be helpful to read the text of all the moving lines. In H53, the lines show a gradual development based on the image of geese flying from the coast to mountains.

As always, take what resonates and leave the rest ;)

Thanks for all the replies they make sense and are affirmations that it is a slow process that will work out in the long run. I initially wasn’t even going to teach her to drive a stick but decided to start training her as she is already 16 1/2 and after seeing it seems she will get it over time and that my car is visibly not so dangerous without the head rest I’ll be able to pass it down to her. There are 6 roundabouts on the way to school so I can see her practicing with me for maybe 6 months before I’m comfortable with her being on her own. We actually had fun together on her first day of training with me which I wasn’t expecting! We both were laughing as she was trying to get it to go into first gear without stalling. We were in my property where we were safe from other drivers. I do feel we are bonding in the experience and in that way might also represent the marriage metaphor as well as the long time it will take for her to gain complete confidence in driving. I think the IC is saying that the journey will take a while and will be positive.

Hexagram 53 in the I Ching is called "Gradual Progress" or "Development". To interpret this hexagram in the context of your question and situation, we can consider its symbolic meaning.

In the context of giving your car to your daughter, Hexagram 53 suggests that progress and growth will come gradually. Just like learning to drive a stick shift, it takes time and practice to develop proficiency and confidence. The hexagram indicates that your daughter's learning process will be gradual but steady, with each day bringing improvement. It signifies that patience and persistence will be key in this situation.

Hexagram 53 also encourages a gradual approach to any changes or transitions. It advises against rushing into things and instead emphasizes the importance of taking one step at a time. This suggests that your daughter's learning process should continue steadily, building upon the foundation she has already established.

Overall, Hexagram 53 indicates that giving your car to your daughter is a positive decision. It suggests that with time, practice, and patience, she will continue to develop her driving skills and become more confident. However, it also reminds you to support her progress gradually, without rushing or overwhelming her with too much responsibility too soon.

I hope this helps.

Wow thank you Super Natural that is the wisdom I need! It makes so much sense and I won’t rush her and it’s a good reminder not to be impatient as sometimes that is an issue for me in life.

I think you can take into account the ‘ritualistic’ aspect of hex 53.
Giving your daughter your old car could be seen as a ritual, in which you symbolically give her your trust as a part of her journey to adulthood. It should take all the time it needs.
For me, it’s very positive as an answer.
