Through the development of events, a friend of mine got to keep in storage a set of books that my girlfriend got for me, but could not deliver herself because we are separated. The intention was to use him as intermediary but both of us (me and him) feel that it is not the right way to present the gift in the current situation, that things should be done when the situation has settled. After meditating upon loose ends in our relationship and things that i should put in place, i thought that maybe it's a good idea to take the books as it is, say thank you and maybe this won't bug us anymore as another unfinished thing.

I asked if it was favorable to pick up the books from him. I Ching replied 56.3 -> 35.
Until now i used to look at the second hexagram as the situation and the first as fine tunings, in this case me wanting to Proceed forward, to advance, but this leading probably to an argue with my friend and loosing his trust. I feel a little bit confuse because another friend and experienced diviner said that if i do this, i probably get into trouble with my friend, but in the end i advance so...things aren't that bad.

What do you think?

The line suggests that if you go after the books then your ex could well get kind of narky but when you think about it, what does it matter anymore because you are now separated and there is no pressure on you to please him or otherwise. So, take no notice, get your books and end it.

Her, not him. I'm worried that it's not her that's gonna get "narky" but him, our friend in common.

I don't understand the situation ? Is this it ? A friend of yours has some books your ex intended to give to you. You are asking if you should get these books ? I can't understand why there would be any problem with getting the books from the friend ? As they aren't the friends books why would the friend care if you collect your own books ? baffled as to the reason why the friend in common would get 'narky' ?

Okay, so your ex girlfriend got some books for you but now you are separated and your friend has them,a man.
So, I echo that same question, why would he get narky? Does he want to keep the books or something?
But at the end of the day he is going to be annoyed by your actions, but why I don't understand.

Because he feels that the gift is innapropiate at this time. We are both in pain after the separation. I felt too that it was innapropiate to make a gift through someone else. I've discussed with him and we feel that maybe in 6 months or at some other time when emotions got settled may such a gift be presented. Otherwise what would be the point.

While meditating on this i felt that maybe it would be best to accept the gift. But he's more disciplined, so it would obviously upset him. He feels that if you take a decision, than stick with it. This could be interpreted as a compromise.

 whats it got to do with him ? Hes just got the books, its nothing to do with him over when you have them is it ? Its hard to interpet the answer when the situation doesn't make sense...what does he have to be upset about ? Its hard to interpet answer really when situation makes no sense (to me). Who knows maybe 56.3 is about the peculiar role he seems to have assumed in your breakup

Hi White owl
I asked if it was favorable to pick up the books from him. I Ching replied 56.3 -> 35.

This appears to be a strange situation, to those of us looking from the outside in. It might have helped if the question had been crafted in a way to promote more than a yes/no answer.
But here we go "Is it favourable to pick up the books from him?"

56 - " Strange lands and separation are the wanderer's lot." Because you are in a difficult position you have allowed your thoughts and actions to become hijacked. You are unable to stay on the straight and narrow.

56.3 - You are caught up in the emotions of the situation and it's all gone a bit wobbly. Make your decision, make it quick and move on.

35 - If you honour the good intentions that you had in the first place and be strong then all will be well.

Take care

Mike

Thank you all for your replies. Interesting way of looking at the hexagrams Mike. Thanks:)

About the situation. Don't take things in a liniar way. Ok, so the books were bought as a present, but what if you had a fight with someone and broke of, what would you do? still present the gift? If separated? I wasn't even supposed to know about the gift, i sort of found out, it was supposed to be a surprise. The way i see it, i got stuck with a gift at one time, couldn't give it because it would have been stupid and meaningful to do that. In this situation, since the fact is out about the gift, the best thing is to complete it when things are really in place. I think it's pretty simple. And our friend is acting as a referee to keep us on track.

Oh, i'm sorry, maybe i should have put the question like this, is it favorable to take the books. the question is not about HIM, it's about picking the books up. He's just in the context. But the I replyed that there would be that problem with the servant who loses trust and lodge burns down so i presumed that one of them would not be satisfied with the course of actions. Since it's about the little trust there is, i didn't want to push forward. So the question was not if i can take the books from him but he is given as a mention to space location.

Sorry...my bad:)

Okay, your answer 56.3 does say that he is going to be upset by your actions, so the simple solution is, that if you really don't want to upset him, then just back off and leave the books where they are, it is not a matter of life or death whether you get them tomorrow or in a year's time, is it?
