Hello Forum!

I hope you can help me with this dilemma I have... I am going through a moment of changes in my life. I think I have never been as "whole" as I am currently. Even in my personal relationships, I am entering into a new stage, something I always yearned... When I ask the Yi about my current situation, the state of my relationships, I receive very fortunate readings. And deep in my heart I know that all is well.

There is a sensation in the background that doesn't let me enjoy these moments of change and novelty. So, I made two questions hoping that I can see what is happening clearly and start enjoying what it is... I asked:

What is stopping me for enjoying the present circumstances, specially in what refers to relationships? 58.2.3.4.6 to 37. Well, I think this is a very appropriate answer to my question... but I would love your comments on this. I feel there is a good advice here and wouldn't like to miss its fullness.

Thank you so much!

Are you depending upon others to make you happy? Are you just looking for instant satisfaction? Are you just too restless for your own good?

I suppose once you find peace of mind and can relax then you will find happy and joy in everything that surrounds you.

Hex 58 becoming Nuclear of 58

Hi Sam,
The Oracle of hex 58.2,3,4,6 >>37 has 4 moving lines. This puts the first emphasis upon the 2 lines that do not change, line 1 and line 5. These are the line places of beginning or the transition from prior conditions to this timing and the line place of the overall organization. Since the question was asked in the form of what inhibits my joy this suggests you have concerns about how a current relationship arose or changed your prior reality and what this relationship will do to your entire self-organization.

Looking at the lines that do move--the lower nuclear trigram of fire is moving and also the 6th line or the transition to the Next is a Yin place developing focus. The inner feelings of fire are expressing and exhausting themselves powering a transition to a new situation. The resultant hexagram for your Oracle is the same as the nuclear hexagram for hex 58 or the problem that stops you from joy with new relationships has to do with how this would affect your family dynamics or recreate the inner dynamic of your childhood and upbringing.

I'm speechless. I couldn't even see a 0.05 % of this... ! Now it makes a lot of sense.

You wrote about the nuclear trigram and the nuclear hexagram. How should we work with interpreting those? I mean, what they tell us? In this case the trigram of fire moves to water (is this why it is exhausting itself?) and also, that the nuclear hexagram is the same as the resulting, would this confirm the "environment" of the reading? What would have happened if the nuclear and resulting hexagrams were different?

Hi Sam,
Moving Yang lines express and exhaust themselves becoming open Yin places. Moving Yin line places develop focus and become Yang lines. The nuclear hexagram describes where the oracle hexagram arises from within. An oracle has a process beginning in the nuclear hexagram that then interacts with the current timing environment (line places 1 and 6) to become the oracle hexagram which then is changing emphasis through its moving lines and tending toward the ultimate Resultant pattern.

Your oracle had lots of moving lines. The four of them formed two sets, one set was 3 lines together, thus the trigram moving. Fire burns bright so the image of expressing and exhausting itself as an entire trigram. Now that you ask in detail about it, there is also a moving Yin place, the 3rd so the trigram of fire becomes passionate 3rd line place as focus. Separate from this is the moving 6th Yin line place, the place of transition to the Next. However the transition to the resultant is back to the nuclear hexagram in this specific oracle.

In general when a person is feeling difficulty enjoying their new situation, especially involving relationships, the likely problem is that moving on to a new relationship means leaving behind the old family situation. The most general expression of this is feelings of being disloyal to one's family dynamics. The detail that the hexagram of The Family is both nuclear and resultant in this particular oracle emphasizes that as your new relationship goes well, the question comes up of where that relationship will go eventually which always raises doubts and issues.

In this particular hexagram that would not confirm the "environment" of the reading, but that your difficulty enjoying new relationship situation is that it highlights issues of The Family and especially the tension between Family where you are daughter and Family where you would be wife and mother.

If the resultant were not also the nuclear and both hex 37 a totally different process and meaning would be involved.

Structural analysis of the line places and oracle process is a totally different interpretation of the Oracle from the Chinese text analysis. Words easily give rise to confusion and words read through various cultures and millennia can be even more difficult. That is what my web site is all about.

Thank you so much for your response. It's amazing everything you can find on a reading. I hope I could see it like this as well... (it would reduce my readings from 10 to 1 :) ). Lots of study ahead. I will do.

One more question... based on this reading, in your opinion, what would be the next question? I mean, would it be focusing on the issues that are being highlighted (the past) or on how to deal with the new situation? Or both? It could be a good sample for my study -plus perhaps I stop freaking out... :)

Hi Sam,
The most important element in calmly interpreting an oracle is to have it not be about yourself. Easy to wax profound about abstract line symbolism. But thank you for your appreciation.

What is the next question? Your first question seems to highlight your family dynamics. So the next question is what is the difficult tie to your father or ex-husband or mother or whatever family dynamic has you feeling disloyal for finding joy in your new relationship.

I have no idea of your personal history. However, it is a general situation that women feel guilty about their relationship with their father, more intensely if that was a difficult relationship when they were small children. Being good daughters, they grow up feeling it is wrong for them to leave that unfinished situation from childhood to find joy with someone now. The other general situation is the little girl realizes the family had problems and she doesn't want to grow up and get on with her own life until her family is all better first.

You will have to explore for yourself without the Yi what is the family dynamics that you feel hung up about. Then you can ask the Yi about how to resolve that problem and allow yourself to enjoy life now. It is the family pain that shackles you. It would feel to you that you are doing well, so isn't it just proper that you first fix them or that history. Of course, the past is no longer directly accessible. Nothing you do now will change any history. In objective terms, you are usually feeling you need permission from your family to be adult and move on. If they could do so, it would have been done, so other avenues are required for you now.

Your current situation and relationship is a separate issue which is more in the realm of interacting with the other person or persons in real relationship here and now than finding the right question to put to the Yi. Generally, if you can get yourself OK with yourself and your background, you can take care of the rest on your own.

Good Luck.:)
