Thank you for your insight on my previous post. There's another reading I'd like to share.

I asked: Why do I want to be with a woman so badly?
I got: 58.6>10.

58.6 The first thought that came to my mind was that the line speaks about sex. :blush: It's probably also a warning and Yi is telling me that I'm tempted too much by desire and should control it. Or it could mean that I'm too obsessive about the topic...
10 I should slow down and thread carefully because I could get bitten.
Any thoughts? Thank you. :bows:

knowledge (58) is a drive (10) was the first thing came in mind but not sure why ?? :blush:

the reading might mean you need to find your 'place' in regards to 'relating'. Sex is the closest conduct and both hex are about conduct and learning as well.

Interesting, seem to me, that here you have Heaven and Lake ; before was 19's with Earth... your might need to learn something and need a strong companion during this exploration. Gratification and moods- both aspects of 58, as central to this line, imo... maybe there is a gap needs to be filed; one lake provides water to another like the friends learn together- compare notes, discuss, and so on. Maybe 58.6 lacks of a center in some ways and 10 helps to find it; the discrimination aspect of it...

I feel 58.6 is a neutral in terms of fortune/misfortune. One is pulled along with something in a rather automatic way. It may be sexual attraction if that is what you are asking about, but I have also known it to refer to spiritual practises. My thought connecting all these things is when one is in a situation here one is pulled along by gratification. Some states of meditation and so on can be like being high on a drug and that can pull you inmore.

From Hilary's book

'Opening that pulls'

Well yes lol I can see that might refer to a vagina as well as a state of pleasure in some spiritual practises.

So you are drawn along. Some commentaries suggest it's not good to be pulled along so much without exercising some restraint. I haven't known anything to entirely support that view. I think it's a line that says "hey you are being pulled in. How do you feel about that ? Are you going to let it pull you ?'

I think one danger of the line might be in being too undiscriminating. Perhaps there is some need for more care about what you get drawn into. Maybe that is where it link in to hex 10. Following along after what pulls you can involve dangers. I think the line suggests a little more self awareness of what is happening is good. Not that you shouldn't go there but if you do go there aim for some self awareness too.

Not all feelings of irresistible attraction lead us somewhere good for us to go.. not even in spiritual practises

It doesn't not talk about sex.

Don't feel too bad, I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

I don't think it's talking about sex but, when we're talking about people and objects, about being attracted by their appearance. Being seduced by outward appearances, we are in danger of losing our inner truth.

It is said that this form of attraction is unworthy of the junzi, that perfect person, also known as the Superior Man. Yet I guess we are all drawn by the beauty of outward forms.

Thank to all for your valuable comments. :bows:

@ginnie
That makes sense.
Considering gender, being attracted to the particular gender is somewhat like being drawn by the beauty of outward forms as well. And yes, it is a little shallow because for example there are some lesbians who wouldn't date a pre-op transwoman because such a woman lacks their prefered body parts on the outside.

@Trojina
Well, attraction is a lot like being on drugs. The release of chemicals into our brain and body creates an altered mental state in which we both perceive and behave differently than we normally would. Being clouded by such a hormonal coctail can definitely make our judgment to be less careful so I can definitely see some need for more care about what one gets drawn into.
Yes, I'm being pulled in, and I think I'll need to let it pull me in eventually, but I'm not ready to just give in yet. Maybe that's where the Route 10 leads? Taking that route is the only safe way, while taking a shortcut would lead to danger... Haha, I made it up nicely. ;)

@anemos
And inner hexagram of 58 is 37, so not so far from "home" as well...

@sooo
Haha, yeah. I don't feel bad. I just don't understand it much is all.

Wilhem says that
unlike the six in the third place which draws pleasures to itself through its desire, the six at the top is the outer triagram and tempts others to pleasure.
"Seductive joyousness" does not pertain to the person consulting the oracle but shows a situation confronting him. It rests with him whether he will let himself be seduced.

Seems you are aware of the Siren's Call, and you just need to decide whether it is in your best interest to allow yourself to be seduced.

No. But it is about the pursuit of happiness, which might include that.
But the xiao xiang calls that pursuit less than enlightened.
Maybe pursue instead what is good for you and happiness might follow.

I asked: What is good for me?
I got: 23.1.3.4>30

23: Something in my life is coming to an end (hm, I wonder what that is). It's no good to imagine the future and make plans, I just need to struggle on for a while longer, it's not a time to act.
23.1 Destructive forces are active. I should not ignore the change but keep alert.
23.3 I'm connected with something that isn't good for me. Braking those ties is without fault.
23.4 Calamity is imminent. Matters have gone too far for me to be able to change events. (sounds scary :eek:uch:)

30: It's up to me to shed some light on the situation, to gain clarity about the nature of things. Facing all the facts will lead to the truth about what's happening.
It seems to me that 30 is the tool for "surviving" 23 process... ?

Hexagram 10 - you do not have to be afraid of the tiger, it is not going to bite you, you are capable of treading carefully, even playfully, and have a successful - Hexagram 58 - joyous exchange. Hexagram 58, line 6 - Continue the joyous exchange, but seek a deeper connection not a superficial one. Perhaps a spiritual connection. Something that is fulfilling and satisfying on a soul level, not just in the flesh.

So to answer your question, "Why do I want this woman so bad?" Depends, are you the inferior man or the superior man? The inferior man is so fearful, he is chasing his own tail, and risks getting bitten. He only seeks a superficial exchange. The superior man knows how to tread the tigers tail playfully and successfully. He sees the opportunity of a joyous exchange that can lead to a deeper and more fulfilling connection.

"What is good for me?" Hexagram 30 - find the clarity in, what needs to be stripped away - Hexagram 23. Line 1 - Strip away from all that does not fit in the reality of your life, you are in danger of losing your foundation. Line 3 - Strip away the defeating and negative elements in your life. (This could be your own thoughts or the people you hang with.) You are in danger of losing your true character and virtues. Line 4 - Strip away from superficiality. Seek something with more meaning and depth. You are in danger of losing any good connections.

What is the reality of your life and situation? What will help make your foundation stable? How can you be more positive and optimistic? Where can you make deeper connections? Who or what do you need to let go of that is defeating you?

Best wishes on your journey

Thank you, blue_angel. I so wish to have answers for all your questions, really, but I'm probably still in denial and my understanding of things is rather clouded. So clouded that I even asked the other day if I was attracted to women for real. I got 61 unchanging (the exact same answer to a similar question I asked almost a year ago btw).
I wish I could trust my gut feelings but after all the questioning I kind of don't know what is real and what is not anymore. On one hand I imagine myself holding a woman in my hands and it makes me really happy but on the other hand I'm not sure if I just don't trick myself for whatever reason. Ugh.

The questions are not for me. The questions are for you. 61 unchanging, the truth is inside of you. When you feel it and see it, you will be able to answer all of those questions for yourself. Seems like it should be something you should know within yourself without a shadow of a doubt. Perhaps you are in denial. Only you know.

I think I know what I need to do and I've known for a while. I asked if it was beneficial for me to end it with my boyfriend and got 49.1.4.6>53. I spent a few months in the 49.1 period thinking things through carefully and it seems that I have no other alternative. Now I find myself standing in front of the 49.4 door, feeling ready to knock...

When a snake sheds its old skin, it doesn't crawl around in a panic. It finds a safe place and abides; nature takes care of the rest.

Lines like 58.6 can get us all wound up, but that may be exactly what line 6 is directed to, being all wound up, trying to get some satisfaction.
