I just met my oldest friend for coffee. As we sipped our oat lattes, she went to town tearing her other friends and family members right down, for their own good, of course. I did not participate, painfully aware that choosing to listen to all that crap may well equate participation. When it was my turn to hold the proverbial mic, I made sure I spoke only about issues as they related to myself: wondering how the last year of my BA studies may interfere with my fiction writing, the need to develop a better time management strategy, that sort of thing. My friend listened for a bit, before interrupting, ‘What are you talking about? You have seven whole days each week at your disposal, plenty of time on your hands, of course you can fit it all in!’

This may not sound like a dig, but it was. I chose not to work for a bit and live (super frugally) off my student loan. This way, I could get on with my studies and also continue to write. Now, I’m not earning very much from writing at the moment, so I guess some people may conclude I’m wasting my time and really ought to get a “real” job. People like my mother, for example, but not someone I choose to call my friend.

I have a history of hanging around with people who didn’t believe in me or who liked me as long as I remained nice and small. I know this particular brand of relationship has its own, softer way of killing you dead. I also know that there are some important changes (over)due in my life, and I’ve been praying for courage, clarity and guidance – a manna from heaven, in short – to be able to pull them off decisively and successfully.

As soon as I got home I stepped in front of the mirror, looked my reflection in the eye and reaffirmed my identity and worth, reaffirmed I was a child of god worthy of unconditional love and perfectly capable to make my living under grace, perfectly present to receive my good when the time’s right. Then I sat down with Yi and asked if I could please have an insight and advice. And so it came:

14.1.2.3.4.6>2

And I almost burst into tears of gratitude.

It is this sense of gratitude that moved me to post. An Ode to Yi, if you like. Sometimes I feel no one’s listening, no one cares. But they are and they do. Also, I welcome any comments you may have, as well as any experiences of Yi saving the day you may wish to share.

Hello,
As your question "insight and advice" is very global, it is not obvious... I try: 14.1.2.3.4.6 – 2
The whole gives me this impression that you need the perseverance (2) of a mare but also the perseverance of a generous pioneer. You are on your field but there is work, good friends (in the south/west ) and "a master" to find... I see the master in hexagram 1 and maybe in 14 too.
When you read all the lines of 14, it corresponds well to your current work: you have possession (studies and your license, your writing). 14 is possession but also measure and balance.
You must avoid pests, do several things at once (big cart), persevere and give time to your writing, not compare yourself to others and the way of heaven you are blessed...
I think these are very good tips from YI 🌺

Thank you, Matali, you’re a⭐! I really appreciate your time and brilliant insight. Speaking of which, unless I’m having some kind of an emergency (emotional, rather than actual... obvs!), Yi will always address the most pressing issue, regardless of my painstakingly composed question. Hence the insight & advice request, which I find serves me well, as long as I’m willing to participate in the Flow.

"You must avoid pests” made me laugh, but only because it’s true.

💐

Hi Grace Heart,
I sometimes do the same.

I think you have received a very comforting answer, saying you have what you need.

What does it mean really? That she gathered all of you together and spat poison on you all?
I don't understand everything as English is not my language.

Hello Olga Super Star ,
I know I am not Grace Heart , but I thought I would step in and explain the term in English “went to town “ …it’s just an expression , it doesn’t mean that she actually travelled anywhere or that those people she spoke badly about were actually there. The expression “to go to town” doesn’t be have anything to do with speaking behind people’s backs…it just means that someone does something boldly and they “took it there “ —so it could mean in a good way “she really went to town when she sang that song “ …so doesn’t have a moral overtone , just a kind of extreme emphasis , as if your art teacher said , if you want to go to town with color (use it boldly ) , then go ahead .
At least that is what it means to my ear (I am from the United States) , someone else may have a different spin on what it means when someone “goes to town”. OK, now your assignment is to use it in a sentence ; ) .

(I am sorry my reply appears twice , I was trying to edit a small word mistake , that appears in the first reply but not the second , but my attempt to edit was only partially successful).

Ok, I’ll try:

I never went to town as being an actress. (I never gave all myself into it, I could have tried harder and with more determination).

She is really going to town with her gardening (she is determined to have a beautiful garden).

I shall go to town with that tax invoice and reject it (I believe I don’t need to pay for it and want to make my rights heard)

🙂
Hope it makes sense!

Lol, I didn’t think you would actually follow my assignment …ha ha !
I would say the middle one was most successful as a sentence !
An older expression that mostly young people wouldn’t use us to “paint the town red” —and I am not sure if it’s used in the UK —it just means to have a good night on the town , going to bars or clubs .
I was just thinking though, one method of interpreting the lines by Alfred Huang , says that if you get 5 lines that you should read the missing line , so Grace Heart could pay attention to line 14.5, if she was going to follow that method .
Well , Olga , maybe you didn’t go after being an actress with your whole heart and soul, but you still are a super star ⭐️, isn’t that right ? And really who knows, perhaps you will meet a film director who has the perfect role yet for you and you’ll be in many international film festivals . One way I have heard to have your unconscious start working on attracting a goal to you , is to lie in bed and envision what you want , who you want to be , before you fall asleep . Use your imagination to supply as many sensory details as you can (sights, sounds , smells, textures ) and in this way it becomes embedded in your subconscious mind , which is better at manifesting than the conscious mind .

Oh how nice of you!

I’m in bed right now so I will try, even if I’m about to wake up 🙂

My subconscious worked wonderfully until about 10 years ago, then I got lost.
So I gave myself the name of Super Star to at least dream a bit in the daylight.

I like the strategy! Did you just use the name for this forum or for other purposes too? So you got lost 10 years ago, do you think you have wandered around enough time to have been found again ? oh, no need to answer if it’s too personal and circuitous . I am just usually interested in stories of loss and redemption , human stories and non human stories too, though I haven’t met (knowingly) any off planet species to ask them about their travails . Maybe someday . Maybe that’s what Star Wars is for .
Oh what made you say your subconscious stopped working ?

Just for the forum

I used to be simply Olga, then the forum changed and short names were no longer accepted, so I had to make up a new one. I didn't want to change name in order to remain recognizable, and I thought of adding Super Star.

There was a time when I simply attracted things, places, people, situations. I am not saying I didn't have problems back then, but I sort of followed a path where my inner self was conducting.
Now it's like I'm a night moth flapping around, pushed from one place to another.

By the way, giraffes are my favourite pets!

Oh , did you have a pet giraffe ?
I am not tall like a giraffe at all , lol, but I think they are seem peaceful and observant, so that’s why I chose the name.
