An interview and a home

Good morning,

Life has been hectic to say the least but not with real happy things unfortunately. It's been one bloody angst after another - I thought moving to Sydney would see me with new beginnings and not the same, same. The only thing that's different is I have a job which I'm truly grateful for but that's had it problems too.
However tomorrow I've a job interview with another company and yet another rental to look at which I've very keen on.

The rental is very nice, clean and in a great location and I'm wondering why it hasn't already been snapped up. It's with a real estate and she is very obliging. All this is making alarm bells ring for me -

Why has this rental not been taken yet Hex 62.1.4>36

It seems they are being cautious and taking their time to get the right person

Hex 36 - the rental is a little bit hidden as it's behind their home plus their home is their holiday getaway so they're not there all the time.

The company I work for is new and the owners have little idea on how to run it really so some of the obstacles we've come up against I've had to deal with whereas this other company has been established for many years.

What do I need to know about my job interview tomorrow

Hex 5.1.2.5>15

Waiting - hmmm...well this is a secondary interview, the first one took place over the phone and I know she was very impressed with what I said and I guess it's proof because I now have an interview with the boss but I did have to wait 5 days before I got the call for this second interview. Does this mean I will have to wait further for an answer to whether I've the job or not.

hi

your h24 reading was about the same issues ? Your "angst" word reminded me of that reading ( you had a 24 if i recall correct)

ah no - the angst has come from all areas of my life really work, home and a government agency although I did have a funny incident the other day with a rental.
But this one is a completely new rental and it's with an agency and not private.

At work I got accused of not locking a security door before I left and that made my relationship with the school deteriorate but I talked if over with my boss and that was resolved in my favour as it was the janitor that was at fault for not locking up which they found out when the investigated the incident.

My son loves to tell me how to live my life according to his idea of what I should be doing plus there's a lot of unresolved issues on his part of why his father and I split 25 years ago that have nothing to do with me.

The government agency accused me of not coming for a meeting they'd set up after I'd called in advance and told them I couldn't make it - this was also resolved in my favour as they could trace the call that I'd made.

This is the angst I'm talking about and this all happened in a matter of days of each other. On top of that I've left an area I did like and all my friends to enhance my life not deal with all this crap. Yes that's life but previous to this I've been dealing with a whole lot for the past 5 years or so, so I was hoping this move would bring about the change I've been seeking. - Liss

With the interview reading, you asked what you need to know...I wonder if it's literal advice rather than saying you'll have to wait a while for the result? (Or just saying that, anyway. I could see 5.5 being that. Unless it's a lunch interview, lol.)

Am wondering if 5.2 might be telling you something about the "small talk" that will occur at various points, with almost everyone you'll encounter. Before, during, after...

"Waiting on the sands, there are small words.
In the end, good fortune."

Some translations say, "gossip" - maybe if they ask you about previous employers, be careful not to say anything negative? Which you surely already know; this isn't your first job interview.

I don't want to speculate wildly what it could be. But does the "small talk" notion make any sense to you?

Hilary says this, in her book, about 5.1:

"You need these wider spaces [the outskirts] with longer views. Don't rush to the centre of the action to take the initiative, or focus exclusively on a single issue. Only by seeing your desire as part of a larger landscape can you see the potential for it to be realized."

That does sound like a description of things that could happen in a job interview. Maybe if you keep the reading in the back of your mind, you'll recognize things as they occur?

Good luck with it! :pompom:

Thank you Lisa that's good advice about not saying anything negative - I'm sure they'll ask why I'm wanting to leave my present employ.

The quote you've used of Hilary's sounds like I'm looking for more in my job than what I have now.

Well, that's almost certainly true, else you wouldn't be looking. The relating hexagram is 15, though. LiSe Heyboer talks a lot about "team words" in 15, which might fit with part of the quote from 5.1, "seeing your desire as part of a larger landscape".

A long-established company might have a lot of employees who have been there for years. From the company's point of view, maybe this interview is less about your skills, per se, and more about getting to know you and deciding how well you'd fit in.

You've already passed a couple levels of screening to get to this point: into the phone-interview group, and from there to this in-person interview. The fact that you've gotten this far probably means that on paper - in your resume - you meet their requirements. That doesn't mean you won't be asked to discuss all that. But the conversation might be just as important as the facts.

But obviously I don't actually know! Hopefully when you get there, you'll be able to pick up on the tone and strike the right chords with people. The reading might click into place as events unfold. I hope it goes well!

Thanks for your words Lisa they are helping immensely. The fact of the matter is I've been on my own for over 5 years in a lot of facets of my life and any job I've had has been jobs working on my own so I haven't had to work as part of a team.
I haven't been in a relationship so all in all I haven't had to compromise or do things others' way except sharing houses and it's always been someone else's home so I've had to work around them and what they want instead of working with them and that's ended in disaster more than once.
I hope I can learn to work in a team again. - Liss

Thanks Lisa. Waiting - well there was traffic I had to sit in and wait and wait, travelling 4kms took half an hour. I left an extra 20 minutes early to make sure I got to the interview on time and I was late which she understood straight away as she had to sit in it too.

We also did talk about many little things that make the whole of the job and now I have to wait to hear whether I've got the job she recommended me for to HR.

On the way home after a very long day in which I also travelled 2 hours away to look at a rental (which I got finally!) my car broke down so I had to wait and wait. - Liss

So, overall, do you think the reading had more to do with the traffic problems, car breakdown, and so forth, or more to do with the actual interview?

To me, it sounds as if the reading didn't apply to the actual interview very much, but I wasn't there. Do you think anything in the reading helped you in the interview, or helped you prepare for it?

Am wondering whether to be dismayed with this reading, haha. You asked what you needed to know about the interview. It did seem possible to look at the reading and find advice that was actually about interviewing.

But from what you're saying, it doesn't seem that it told you very much about the interview, and more that it told you you'd have to wait in traffic - which the interviewer didn't even care about! (Not that you knew she wouldn't care. It was probably nerve-wracking for you.)

It seems that if traffic delays and being late were the significant matters, hex 39 may have gotten that across better?

As far as hex 5 meaning you'll have to "wait" to find out if you get hired, that's very normal, isn't it, and not something the I Ching would have to use a reading to say? I mean, people don't usually get jobs without a lot of waiting to hear things. So I guess I'm hoping that wasn't its point...

[Edited to add: I sound crabby, sorry. I understand that you asked a question, and the I Ching answered, and it presumably answered as it did for a reason. It's just that even in hindsight, I don't understand what it was telling you, and...I don't like readings I can't make sense out of even in hindsight. Am hoping there's some light to be shed :D.]

Hi Lisa - well the first two lines definitely describe my state of mind in terms of wanting to take action for a better job and my restlessness and as it's said Hex 5 isn't just about Waiting but doing something whilst processes are taking place.
Line 5 - talks of just relaxing as I wait for the process to happen, no point in being anxious and not enjoying my time as I wait.
So I guess maybe not so much to do with the interview but my inner attitude to the whole thing.

Oh, okay, I see what you mean. That makes great sense. Thanks, Liss :). (And I hope you won't have to "wait" too long to hear.)

This is funny. I was looking for comments on 5.1.2.5 and came to this thread.
I didn't really understand why you would get 5.1.2.5 as an answer to your question. But then I came to this post: http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?16515-Hex-48-gt-40

You asked "How would it benefit me to look fo a new place to live?"
Answer: 5.1.2.5
So the answer wasn't for the interview, more like a reminder of an earlier answer. On the day you found a new place to live.
