If anyone can help me with these readings I've been getting I would really appreciate it. The story is that I met this girl about a year ago, and we've been talking off and on mostly through email. I've posted at least once before about her, willowfox helped me out... I am very fond of her, feel that she and I are a perfect match. But last I heard from her, she was going up to New York. I haven't heard from her this whole summer, and i've sent her a few messages since.

-July 30th 2007-

Please comment on my relationship?

#35 Progress

It's going along fine.

Should I take action in my relationship?

#58.1 -> #47

Yes, speak out with joy.

Should I call her?

#1

Yes take action.

Please comment on my message I left her?

#40.3 -> #32

Don't depend on the yi for reassurance?

Are there going to be any positive changes in my relationship?

#11.6 -> #26

(all i know is that somone else (shaoqi) saw this as very positive for his relationship)

-August 3rd 2007-

Please comment on my relationship?

#53.1 -> #37

Shaky, but progressing.

Any advice for me in this relationship?

#55.4.6 -> #22

Be full of joy, be not sad, your spirit moves the others. Confront the demons, don't isolate yourself in sadness.

Any advice for how to eliminate any negativity towards her?

#58.2.5 -> #51

I know this is allot to look at.
And forgive me for posting two threads so close togather.

It's just that some of these things are a clear positive sign, and then others are rather ambiguous. Nothing is outright negative as far as I can see. 40.3 presents an interesting one in the mix i've been unable to see how it could fit... Except for stephen Karcher's translation (in previous thread: "40.3")

Dear CM,
Although lightening is not going to strike you dead for asking so many questions, I can't help but feel you are hurting your cause by doing so. The I Ching is of course known for being an oracle that can answer questions, but my experience is that it does much more. By forming a question, tossing the coins and reflecting on the answer something happens inside us. Perhaps science could even show our brain waves changing or energy rising to a higher chakra. Anyway, the calm meditative state induced just from consulting the I Ching is often the key to recognizing the answer. Think of looking into a clear pool. When the waters - the emotions - are still one can easily see to the bottom but when the mind is stirred up with many questions the emotions are too, like waters in a pool splashing about and thus the vision is distorted. What I'm saying is the IChing is a tool for quieting the mind, and it is when your mind is quiet that you can see the answers. If the answer to your first question isn't clear to you, it isn't because the answer is wrong or ambiguous, but simply that you need to live with the it for a bit, let your mind focus on the answer and get off your question. What often happens when you do this is you suddenly will have an Aha! moment a little further on down the road. This sence of breakthrough - perhaps it is the chi suddenly reaching the crown chakra? - will give you a great burst of joy and confidence which may be more helpful than the actual answer to your question. Furthermore, when you solve the answer, that is when you understand it, you may also discover that the actual problem has been solved. For example, you asked the IC to comment on how your relationship is going. You received 35 which you interpreted to mean it is going fine - and yet obviously it is not! So here is where I would pause and really dig into what 35 is all about. You may live with the riddle for a few minutes before enlightenment flashes or you may have to walk around with it unresolved for a bit. But my experience has been that when understanding finally does kick in, then without you having to do anything, something changes. Like at that moment you hear from your friend or whatever. The point is, for me at least, consulting the I Ching seems to do something more than just give me an answer, it seems to actually make changes happen. But particularly the I Ching tells us that when we ask more than one question it will give no information (hex.4) Anyway, I just thought I'd mention this to you. I hope you hear from your friend soon.

CM, from here it looks like you're trying way too hard, way too proactive. But that said, there's nothing I see that says it can't or won't work out well in the end, unless perhaps you chase her or frighten her away.

This is true on many levels. The same applies when deliberately creating our experiences. When we try to focus on too many things at once, our consciousness becomes clouded and confused. It is better to focus on one or two things at a time.

The same can be true of earth, of the soil. Trying to plant too many varieties of vegetation in one area of soil will deplete the reserves and cause root entanglement..choking each other out.

Every being, every form of life, every atom, indeed every thought..needs its space.
