Casio db310.

Sometimes I just don't want to take the big 5.5'' smartphone with me, but on a long walk it's nice to have a way of keeping time. So I decided why not revive the old casio?
Yi was against it and I've found old mechanic watch, used it for a month but then they fell on the ground and broke.

Bought a battery today, replaced it, all was well, the nostalgia kicked in, all those memories from 18-10 years ago.

Sadly 3 hours later the screen got very dim, when I change the mode it brightens up for 2 seconds and then goes dim again... unusable :(

What should I do with the watches? 32 - 59

Yi: you want to keep the pattern, like a planet does following its orbit[32] but it's time to move on 59.
Let them go.

32.4 → 46 (Ascending), Richmond: No game in the field.
Yep, useless.
32.5 → 28 (Exceeding), Richmond:
Continuance brings good fortune to the woman and evil to the man.

Time for a change.
32.6 → 50 (Containing), Richmond: Forced continuance has no merit.
Again, reinforcing .4.

Interesting to see 7.5 → 29 (Danger), here.
Legge:
Shows birds in the fields, which it will be advantageous to seize (and destroy). In that case there will be no error.
If the oldest son leads the host, and younger men (idly occupy offices assigned to them), however firm and correct he may be, there will be evil.

Old habits must go away, accept the new reality, then evil won't come :)

59, Wilhelm:
The image of DISPERSION.
Thus the kings of old sacrificed to the Lord
And built temples.

Yes exactly.

Sorry to see that your old Casio is defunct. We certainly do form attachments to some of these old things!

Hi Ashteroid, this is a very interesting topic - timekeeping. Love the CASIO, it reminds me of one I used to have. Anyway, I gave up on watches years ago, because somewhere in my being, I don't really believe in time. It feels like an alien concept, a layer over reality that I can work with because I have to, but given the choice I would abandon it completely.

I almost never check my phone for the time, don't regularly use an alarm, etc. So the current effect of rarely using timekeeping tools is that I am required to stay in the present in order to meet any obligations that have a set time attached. It's funny because when other people are late for a meeting, so am I, and we end up arriving within 30 seconds of each other. People are always commenting on how often there appears to be some kind of synchronicity with me. I usually laugh it off as, "I got your message about when you would arrive... you know, the no-tech version."

When I am nervous or excited about a meeting, I have to allow a longer period of time to prepare because time seems to speed up for me then, or I go slow, not sure, still I know how much the offset will be by the level of excitement. If I need to wake up at a certain time, then I ask myself to do so the night before. When I am really concerned about waking up on time (gotta catch a plane or something), I will go ahead and set an alarm yet I always wake up 5-10 minutes before it goes off. It's so much fun learning how to do this - training my other senses. If the animals can do it, why can't I? Of course, in the beginning it often went totally wrong, but these days, rarely.

You have a strong intuitive sense so I thoroughly recommend giving it a try, just for the fun of it. Yeah, none of this is particularly relevant to the reading.

After 2 more hours the date went to 0 (never thought it was possible, it can only show 1-31), but the month was still 10. Year went back to 85 :) Alarm went off, display was bright again.
By the morning they completely stopped. I've thrown them away, no remorse :)

Hujambo I agree with your view on timekeeping. I usually wake up 5-10 minutes before the alarm too.
But with meetings and appointments hmm I don't trust myself enough yet.

First it was school starting 8:30 sharp with possible punishment or just some remark from the teacher for being late. Then it was University and job with a chain of various city transport in between.
Trying to not waste time of arriving too early..

But now I've become more free of the schedules and time-keeping.

I believe that all these external tools are unnecessary.
My first intuition experiments were with time.
Waiting in a car for an airplane to arrive - when will they call me?
Or when will they come out of that building?
Or just - what time is it?
Trying to get an image in my head with numbers or a face of an analog watch.

That reminds me of Star Wars, where Luke had to drop a bomb into the core of the Death Star.
Right at the end he switched off the nav. computer and trusted himself!

Hadn't thought of trying to work out what time it is, or what time something will happen... My focus is more about being somewhere at the right time or coordinating with others, which seems easier for me to grasp intuitively.

I might have learned it from Luke, quite a big fan of Star Wars here.
