This says that the guy is capable of doing the job and that you will be able to work together, so if you know what you are doing constructionwise then he will follow your instructions.

Hi Signs,
Wow, these hexagrams point pretty clearly into the subject matter of building and collaboration. It could easily be said that hex 48 is talking about building and 8 is about collaborating and so you'd think the answer would be YES. But everyone's situation is unique and also, there are little pointers peppered about the hexagrams that might make you think otherwise about WHO to choose.
I will try to help you see what the divine i ching has to show you in the best way I can
(I have been using the Wilhelm version just so you know)
Hexagram 48 - To me this hexagram is saying that resources can be tapped into just like the water is reached by the means of a well. Wilhelm's version says it is also like a plant that gets it's nourishment from the ground water and brings it up to its fibers.
Interestingly it talks about capital cities being moved to more favorable locations. (Which says to me, that they BUILT ) But regardless of these moves, the well stayed unchanged in shape. This could be taken into consideration.
Two questions come to my mind about your consideration of collaboration with this builder: One is, Are you building a standard structure or is it something out of the ordinary structure wise? And two, Does this collaboration include plumbing? (haha) For some reason I keep thinking this hex is referring to the plumbing!!
This hexagram also warns about a few things: It warns that if there is a lack of foundational focusing could result in misfortune. AND It say's a man may fail in his education to penetrate to the real roots and remain fixed in convention. (To me that says that someone could possibly get stuck thinking traditionally about something, and problems arising from that because the situation is actually unique or more modern or advanced) And also if you have partial education it can be just as bad as none.
wow, as I am reading the wilhelm version and the commentaries in it, it is using SO MANY words that could refer DIRECTLY to building a physical structure it is almost scary!
It says also (as a spin from negative to positive) in the IMAGE: Thus the superior man encourages the people at their work, and exorts them to help one another.
This, to me is talking about your possible collaboration and the manner inwhich you would have the best possible outcome. All parts co-operating for the benefit of the whole. And also good spirits to feed it.
Line 2 - This line to me says that there would be a bit of slacking off or a lack of accomplishment on someone's behalf. It says that this person has the potential to do things right but hangs around inferior people and is not spending his time wisely.
Line 3 - This line says to me that someone else of better qualifications is available but not being used.
Before I go on with the next hex. I would say that in general all of the above could be considered your current or past situation and that the following hexagram would be the true answer to your question AKA the future. (That is normally how I look at my answers)
Hexagram 8 - Holding together is basically a picture of a collaberation. Period. It is of an accord of men, and one of those men being of a strong and leading position. This is important that this man lead. (I don't know if this is you or the other person/s) But whomever, it is a big responsibility that requires (not just skill like the last hexagram) but also: spirit, consistancy, and strength.
I also just read that it is a good thing to call others for help and ask one's self whether he is equal to the undertaking, for anyone attempting the task without a real calling for it, only makes confusion worse than if no union at all had taken place.
The timing of the union is also important. If you hesitate too long, there is a price to pay. Maybe this is referring to possibly waiting to long to ask this person to help.
It also says that common experiences strengthen ties which could mean you would be on the same page of things possibly.
More questions arise: Who would be the lead? and Is he qualified?
These are all questions you can just ask yourself you don't have to answer to me Just trying to get you to think and to help out.
