Dear all,
My sister asked me to help her with an interpretation of her job situation. The thing is that there is inevitably a change approaching in her work routine (especially in terms of new duties, lots of travelling to other countries, more workload, but also more money).
She is already sometimes complaining that she is already busy enough and that she is often feeling very tired of all the business trips and internships which she has been through the last couple of years. However not accepting this would probably lead in her being fired sooner or later.

So she asked whats this change in work going to bring? Whats in it for me?

She got hexagram 56 the Traveler (or transition if you like) changing with lines 2, 3 and 6 into hex 40 - Liberation, Deliverance.

I realised i got stuck trying to interpret this for her.. the hex. 56 - shows her current situaiton i guess her most concern would be the growing amount of travels and business trips, her not being with her family. The changing lines seem to highlight the danger of loosing ones ground under the feet, supportive background or even the home, perhaps?
In the end it seems like the job will in deed take a lot of energy out of her and it will be not as benefitial as she had hoped, and in the end she will need to liberate herself - i.e. leave the job anyways.
Well thats how i see it but i am not quite sure if i have interpreted it in the proper manner. It is quite a complicated situation.

Thank you very much or your insights on this reading.

I am wishing everyone a nice start into the upcoming weekend :bows:

I think you've pretty much summarised the reading very well but I'll run my own thoughts by you.

As you mention, 56 is about travelling and transition either externally and/or internally. Very appropriate.

Line 2: She may have the wherewithal to handle this transition but it'll depend how she can juggle things not only in her job but most importantly how she reacts and perceives the situation. Perhaps there is help there it seems, in some form.

Line 3: Shows adversity of some kind stemming from her own attitude or from the strains of the job - or both. It's a fulcrum point where things can get tricky and can act as the launching pad to line 6 where it reaches the apotheosis of change - where a) carelessness and negative elements of one's character tend to scupper more positive outcomes or b) external circumstances encroach over which she has no control, forcing her to make that change. (fan yao = 62.6 the little bird has flow way too high).

So, not a great set of lines in relation to the question: "What's in it for me?"

Not a great deal. It seems to indicate that her ambition has either been stoked a little too hard and she's tried to do too much with the danger of burning out looming large. H.40 shows the background overall and that a release of tension is required.

I hope your sister finds the balance she needs.

She might want to ask a different question to follow up. Rather than: "what's in it for me?" how about:

"What is the most important thing I need focus on in order to balance my work and family life?"

Dear topal
thank you very much for your detailed explanation, i agree with you that maybe the question should have been posed differently. Coming back to the changing lines, i would like to ask if you think that a gradual accummulation of negative aspects of this job (especially the lines 3 and 6 in hexagram 56) could lead into a need of pressure release which can be result into quitting the job maybe anyways? I guess she would maybe welcome a job change anyways sooner or later since her workload is already too much for her.

Based on the lines I'd say that's a distinct possibility, especially since the workload is already too much. Your sister will know for sure how close she is to breaking point. Not the ideal time to go job hunting but sometimes life rewards us in unexpected ways when we have the courage to initiate the move away from what is making us unhealthy and unhappy. Never easy but with the right support perhaps a new way can be found?
