Hi Folks

Yup, it is the mad mapper again.

I took some time away from drawing the maps to err... daw maps... hmmm.

These squares are the hexagram pairs.

The corners are the resulting hexagram when line 1 & 6 change.

The links join the changes.

The colour is based on whether the hexagrams nuclear hexagram reduces to 2 = Green or 1= Red

The top and bottom lines of each of 23:24 and 43:44 are Transformative.

1:2 and 27:28 are fully Transformative anyway.

Anyone got an explanation or a view on what might be hapenning?

Thanks

Or following Karchers idea that Transformative lines move accross and not diagonally... We have two cycles.

Still don't know what it means.

Dear Good Clarity folk

I have had some emails saying please keep posting maps...

But the silence makes me think... Well folk are polite.

All I am doing is showing the moving lines from one hexagram to another... Well they show something for sure...You judge.

What I am finding astonishing is that there is a beautiful complex symmetry running throughout the Yi.

When I make a mistake it glares at me because the pattern does not fit.

I am seriously worried that folk might feel like I am - Well getting like spam. Please let me know and I will stop.

I am going to go back to mapping the main pairs now... Unless I hear otherwise? Silence means no to me BTW.

Folk might like to know that I suspect that there are two basic patterns to the way hexagrams join at the 'corners' That is at lines 1 & 6... The one above as per Karchers Transformative hexagrams.

The one below as per his progressive ones.

Well as per the Yi really? He just had the brilliance to suss the different characteristics.

The generator and energising grid and the receptor/distributor grid???

Certainly the idea of the 'Wheatstone Bridge' popped into my mind when I saw the diagram below... (an electronic configuration of diodes for making AC into a form of DC for non electricians). Thinks energy correction and load distribution and you have it.

Anyways... if not I hope you just enjoy the beauty of the symmetry.

BTW - See how these cells are little closed loops?

Anyone worked out how these join up... there is something quite beautiful yet? like looking at a bright birds feather or a flower close up.

Love y'all for being so tolerant

Hi Kev,

I have been reading your posts and studying these diagrams with great interest. I have not been asking questions because I was waiting for you to finish with the entire work before doing so.

So, for myself, I say keep up the Good Work, Kev!

Namaste,

Thanks for your votes guys.

Seeing thingslike this has caused me a lot of wonder... it is all so symetrical and tight.

I am still worried about spamming though.

Welcome back Megabbobby

I have been studying your maps, and they make it a lot easier to oversee my own squares. I combined your way with mine.
I also have put the yang hexagrams closer to the center, and the yin ones on the outside. I did not add lines, because they are visible through the dots and crosses, but they do make a simple pattern.
I entered 23-24 and 43-44 only once, because they are each other when reversed, but maybe for the real pattern I should enter them twice.

Certainly no spam, MAPS. I love them.

I have put the three versions together. They all 'map' the same pattern, maybe together they get clearer ? or the contrary ..
Kevin's 'Mad Mapper'-charts made me put the square and its opposite (the two middle maps) in one single map (the top one). In his last map above this mail (37-38-39-40-53-54-63-64) 'my' squares are also visible as squares.
I have added arrows for the bottom-to-top of the hexagrams. They can be read according to the red arrows, or reversed according to the black arrows. In either case they have their number at the bottom.

LiSe,

I really like the above. Thank you very much! (More grist for the hard drive.)

Brilliant.

I have done many hours since you posted the first beautiful map above... spent ages on it.

(Actually your square Games was the hidden inspirer ? Thanks)

Mapping with the actual hexagrams has a lot of advantages!

My problem is (being slightly dyslexic) I can't work with them very well.

It is good to see you have moved on from using tortoise shells and have started using silk paper ;)... They are very lovely to look at.

Your Squares are the clearest for showing the Fan Yao / Qian Yao.

I have just spent a few hours writing out all of the lines in the above cycles.

Reading them and re-reading them does not convey a great meaning to me.

I wonder if trying to map them all together is pretty but not very meaningful?

They are too perfect to be meaningless ? maybe I am not up to that task yet.

I need to reread your Square Games I think.

Following the hexagrams through their nuclear hexagrams seems to make much more sense to me. Rather than mapping the whole and extending things beyond the Fan Yao / Qian Yao.

Some examples:

3 / 23 / 2.
The energy of the Earth eliminating the old and forming the new life.

4 / 24 / 2
The ?Great gestative energy welling up through the return and feeding the young life.

Or read the other way around - The young life and hidden growth returning to its centre and drawing up energy from the Earth.

5 / 38 / 63
Attending (paying attention and waiting) the potential of conflict coming from having already made the crossing and completed the time.

6 / 37 / 64
Settling conflicts has the potential of bringing people together that they might make the crossing.

Thanks for your encouragement.

I shall return to small things now and complete the maps for the Lower Canon? but first I need to study Stephen?s article.

Dear Kevin,
I decided to come down from my pedestal, was gettin a cramp anyway, and help you solve your little mistery. Let me see if some well intended rudeness helps you to clarify your thoughts
Pay close attention, its not everyday that an enlightened Yidiot takes a parcel of its precious time to help a stray sheep such as yourself...
You'll thank me in due time for saving you from the claws of mara

To everyone else: I'm just bored of being always nice

> Anyone got an explanation or a view on what might be hapenning?

yep, you really lost it

> Still don't know what it means.

It means you should get a life

> But the silence makes me think... Well folk are polite.

Not me, I wish you shut up already

> All I am doing is showing the moving lines from one hexagram to another...
> Well they show something for sure...You judge.

They just show that you have a lot of time on your hands

> The generator and energising grid and the receptor/distributor grid???

You might also wanna check on that carburator, there's some weird fumes comin out of the hood

> I hope you just enjoy the beauty of the symmetry

Oh, so thats the point... theyre pretty alright

> there is something quite beautiful yet? like looking at a bright
> birds feather or a flower close up.

if you look real close, you'll notice a chaotic pattern emerging. It looks like a julia set... Is that you over there Julia? we're here gathered waiting for you... Give us a sign!!! willya?

Oh no, now LiSe also got it!!!! its spreading!! we're doomed!!

> I have put the three versions together. They all 'map' the same pattern,

Oh thank god someone clarified that. I can see it now, I just needed to unfocus my sight... Its a duck, right?

> Leonard: I really like the above. Thank you very much!

Oh yes, its pretty. But I prefer LiSe's portrait on her profile (I see the resemblance, though, she got her mother's eyes)

> Mapping with the actual hexagrams has a lot of advantages!

No, no , please, dont let me discouradge you from mapping whatever odd thing you like. Ever done cross-word puzzles?

> Reading them and re-reading them does not convey a great meaning to me.

I guess you found what you were looking for then

Love you all (honestly)

I discovered the fan-yao in the seventies, and they gave immediately much more meaning to most lines, and even hexagrams. I called them 'corresponding lines', but I like Bradfords term 'fan yao' better.
I also saw indications of a connection between lines 1-6, 2-5 and 3-4 of pairs, but they never were so obvious that I could do very much with it. But then, last July, I saw the diagram from Steve Moore (Marshall gave it on his website, see message http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/I_Ching_community/messages/48/798.html?1060492852 ) I put the diagram in Paintshop and connected some fan-yao, then I changed the places of all hexagrams, putting the opposite ones side by side, and making the sequence such, that I could easily find a certain number of yang or yin lines back. Well, the squares almost shouted in my ears.
This diagram is where the 'silk' comes from, the pretty little hexagrams with Chinese names. I added the numbers.
1908.jpg

I don't think this combination of lines 1 and 6 etc also make sense for pairs which are also opposites, like hex.1 and 2, or 29 and 30. It does for hex.1.1 with hex.1.6, or for 29.3 with 29.4. These hexes are in an invisible way present as two in themselves. Hex.1 as it is, and hex.1 upside down. So there are 72 hexagrams, 36 in the upper canon and 36 in the lower canon. (You don't have to come down from your pedestal, Ydiot, I can hear you from high up there all the way down: "yep, you really lost it")

The squares do have a meaning, and especially when you combine them with the opposite one, the meanings become clearer.
I had the idea there should be a common theme, but for the first one, it took me ages to find out. Now I know more or less where or rather how to look, and it is a lot easier.
In the 01.1-square accepting laws guides actions (steers life and gives it its true direction).
In the 02.1 square accepting fate guides life (supports life and gives it its true direction).
I have put the finished ones on my website, there it is easier to get an overview.
