Hi Django,

I've been reading a book by Christopher Vogler. "The Writer's Journey." And I think about you a lot when I read it.

I think about how eloquently and articulately you write in this forum and about how much you find in common with CG Jung's philosophy. So does Christopher Vogler... find much in common with CG Jung's philosophy's that is. And so does Joseph Campbell, and Mr. Vogler is very much influenced by Campbell's thoughts on writing and storytelling.

So I sit and wonder if you're not writing in your "retirement," and I wonder if you've read any Joseph Campbell. I don't know that you would find much use in Vogler's book... it's about screenwriting... unless of course you're writing a screenplay. But you just might enjoy his thoughts nonetheless.

I've tried to read CG Jung's "Answer to Job" but haven't gotten very far yet. I just can't seem to get interested in an analysis of "good and evil." I just feel "good and evil" are such subjective judgmental words... words and thinking the Laozi school of thinkers tried to discourage... but then got caught up in themselves...*wry grin* and that there are just too many directions one could go with them... and I find many other things more interesting to explore than the concept of "good and evil."

Maybe one day I will be able to get from cover to cover in the book... after all I did invest $5 in it *grin*... but not just now.

Thank you for your kind words. I have taken up Art again in my retirement. I find that painting and drawing helps "still" the mind, especially if one listens to good music at the same time.[ Vincent Van Gogh and Paco De Lucia what a "magic" mix.

.Yes I have read Joseph Campbells works. There is always someone "keeping the lamp lit" and he is certainly one of them.
After studying Jung and the I Ching for more than thirty years, I have found that they [Jung and the Yi] are both the same thing, they are water from the same source.

Thank you for your quick response.

Vincent is my all time favorite visual artist. I'll have to sample some Paco de Lucia now that you recommend. I also like the Verve for painting... something about their music adds rhythm to my strokes... and Christopher Parkening, if you like classical guitar, is great to paint to. He was a student of Segovia's, and he's very good.

I'm also painting. I just finished a trompe l'oile design on a chest for my grandson. Nothing childish at all. I wanted it to be a piece that he could blend into his decor through the years.

Re: Campbell... I am waiting for a copy of "The Hero Has a Thousand Faces" to come in at the public library. I'm presently fourth on the list... so it seems he does have an audience.

I'm at the library at this very moment actually to use the computer. The computer at home is running XP and keeps getting worms... from the internet... not the mail server... and Norton keeps letting them in *shakes head*. I don't make the decisions about operating systems and av software, so I'd just rather not use it.

One of the really nice things about finally being home... libraries... multi-branch libraries... and books, movies, art galleries, theatre, family, friends, etc.

Btw, Christopher Vogler is into the YiJing as well. He's tried to organize his own book like the YiJing is organized. I don't know which version he's referring to, but he's done Books I through III. I find it ironic that I try to study something other than the Yi and the effort just seems to bring me full circle... back to the Yi.

And I don't know when I'll be back again... to the forum that is, but I do know I'll be thinking about you all until I return.
