Entangled roots 11>46

I appreciate I'm asking a lot of questions to do with my workplace. My understanding is this is because I'm trying to find a new way of doing things and don't want to tread the same path as I have before.
I am considering going back to my present work place one day a week, Fridays, because it's the quietest day and it's the end of the week so I've the weekend to think and feel how things went as I find my new way of doing things.

What do I need to know about going back to work one day a week (in this case Fridays) HEx 11.1>46

This kind of looks good to me.
The roots entangled with more of it's kind makes me think of my two bosses and their history. My gf refers to these sort of work place relationships as a 'tag team' meaning they play off each other and no one else can really be part of that team. Initially I didn't know their connection was as long as 20 years and I still have no insight into how they came to meet etc. If I'd known I may not have tried to change things by speaking up - tbh if I'd known a lot of things re the dynamics and people in this work place I may never have taken the job.
Although the next words 'setting out to bring order'......I wonder does that mean, bring order into my own life or in the work place?

Understandably I'm very apprehensive about going back re the toxicity and the effect it has on me.

In hex 11 it says "the small departs, the great approaches" and Wilhelm notes "there is an end to all feuds". Perhaps this is hinting that going back into the workplace now will be better than before. Wilhelm notes "the individual lines enter the hexagram from below and leave it again at the top. Here the small, weak, and evil elements are about to take their departure, awhile the great, strong, and good elements are moving up".
For 11.1 there is this image of pulling the grass up in bunches because the stalks are connected by the stalks, and it states "each according to their own". You ask if it may be that the two bosses are the ribbon grass referred to? It could be and if it is what would that mean for your actions? Could it be that as all things are connected by the roots the I Ching is nudging you toward identifying those that share your own roots in the manner of "each according to their own", and perhaps through that the progress will occur?? Wilhelm notes in his commentary on 11.1 "...because the stalks are connected by the roots. In such times, when it is possible to extend influence widely, the mind of an able man is set upon going out into life and accomplishing something". Is this like yourself now, as you are readying to "set upon going out into life", going back to the workplace?

In resultant hex 46 Wilhelm speaks of wood in the earth adapting itself to obstacles and bending around them - the image is of a devoted character heaping up small things to achieve something great.

Hello Becalm. Lately, I have been looking at the imagery of the hexagrams and trigrams as a means of understanding the Yi. So ....

In your reading, with Hex. 11 you have the trigram Earth above, and the Creative (a.k.a Heaven) below, with the first line moving. If you think of the lower trigram as being about your internal process and the upper as being your situation and actions, then in this hexagram Earth and the Creative are each in useful places:

The Creative below is about planning, goal setting, and focusing on your situation, which is of course what your doing. (Sometimes I think the Yi states the obvious, but that might not be such as bad thing, and maybe we need to be reminded sometimes to look at what is right in front of us.)

But the Creative trigram doesn't necessarily describe 'how' you might go about this, so here the first moving line gives you the trigram Wind. This trigram may be asking you to take a gentle but persistent approach to your planning and goal setting (regarding going back to work). It also asks you to think in the long-term: that this situation is not just about short term actions, goals or gratification.

The upper trigram is Earth. In one sense, this is the 'just do it' trigram. It's about taking what has been given to you and working with it. So, here it could be saying, 'well, you've been given this opportunity - a job - so just go for it!'

However, Earth is also about find and giving nourishment. So when you mention, "going back re the toxicity and the effect it has on me" ... it gave me pause. And it made me wonder if Earth's advice (or role) here is to have you look more closely and completely at how this 'toxic' envirnoment is - or is not - nourishing and helping you.

And perhaps Earth is saying something like - "if this job isn't nourishing you - and is instead toxic - you need to consider how to best deal with that: e.g. do your job but keep your head down, don't get mixed up in the long-lasting dynamics of the bosses, etc. - and you should also think long-term and ask yourself (as Wind would do): what is the best thing for me, regarding my career and my own nourishment?"

'Advancing' through Growing Up'.
Things that you are doing now, thinking about now and equally not doing and not thinking about are all moving you in the right direction. All the roots are connected so trust in your ability and maturing wisdom to make the right choices for you. Look at how you talk to yourself and how you talk to others - think before you speak or act. Communication and new ways of interaction are key for you at the moment and will have both short and long term implications.

I'm seeing 11.1 as saying you are at peace with yourself now and are contemplating how to move forward without losing touch with this inner clarity. You are wondering if you will be able to stay true to your calling to be a protector and a roll model for the children while you're all swimming in the toxic soup. I think the advice given in hexagram 46. is on point and very encouraging. I see it as guiding you to focus on what your goal is and then plan your day very specifically. As you work with patience and build on small successes you have the opportunity to "obtain something high and great."

Thanks to everyone who has helped me out here - I'm going to keep thinking about it because the more I think about it the more I'm wondering whether it's my entangled roots.
I used to try to understand why others behaved like they did and how I could deflect it (or not) but now I'm seeking out the answers to why my own behaviour has an affect on me and everyday a new insight (root) surfaces,

All of you seem to be saying I need to stay focused on where I'm headed, my goals and how I can obtain them in the best possible way for myself so that's what I'm going to keep working on.

I don't think I can return with an open attitude at this point.....too much happened.

I actually did return one day a week and with an open attitude as breakmov said. It was clear to me that the place is still very toxic but this time it didn't bother me at all except that the children are still having to put up with it.
I communicated with both of bosses about getting more shifts eventually, tbh I was just sounding them out, and both of them said I'd be better looking elsewhere for work.
Such a turn around to when I was there before I took a break when they were offering me a permanent leadership position!! But yes as my_key put it 'Advancing through Growing Up" and when I put all the interpretations and insight from others on this post, that's exactly what I've done because usually I would have put up and shut up and lived in fear.
