Finances 14.3.4 to 41

Hello everyone
I am a freelance tutor in English facing an uncertain future as we all lurch into this inevitable recession.
I have built up quite a large nest egg by not overspending which I am trying to protect.
I asked the iching: show me my financial future.

this was the reply:

14.3.4 to 41.

hard to take much that's positive from this - the nest egg diminishes.

might there be a positive element in that my constant frugality might be its own reward and protect me to some degree?

41 As context: decrease. Compensating sacrifice.
This context indicates living more simply, spending more carefully, maybe taking a job that pays less but is more fulfilling.

14.3 This suggest a a public minded job working for a powerful and generous boss. Possibly in public service of somekind. Inferior people couldn't handle that kind of position, and would abuse the leader's trust for personal gain.

14.4 This line indicates not competing with inferior people, if you do it will harm your boss.

Looks like a really good apt answer to me, wealth(14) through sacrifice (41). You are reading it as wealth (14) diminishing (41) and I'm seeing diminishing means wealth which is what savings are.

There may even be a slight hint that you can trust your self trust your future a bit more in line 3. Line 3 asks 'can you afford this ?' with mostly IMO the implication that as a prince yes you can.

The idea is a prince being a wealthy person can give and give, he has no fear of running dry. Poorer people can't do this. But I have had this line when I was poor and yet could afford something nonetheless, the line gave me confidence. Wealth isn't just money but the faith to find what you need as you need it.

I wonder if this is a suggestion for humility that you accept there will be enough and it's not all down to you.


Sacrifice is made for the greater good in 41 but it does say this need not be huge, only 2 simple baskets. Hilary writes in her commentary

"But the offering need only be modest - not hundreds of animals, but just two baskets. You are not asked to give beyond your needs."



Is it possible you have made a little too much sacrifice ?


You asked for a picture of your financial future and it's a very broad question and I think you have an answer that speaks of gratitude and faith in supply.


Yang change pattern is 62 and the yin pattern 61. You came to the question in a very 62, careful way you go through the situation by taking the question inside you (61) perhaps more about how wealth and sacrifice feel and what they mean to you. You may be more wealthy than you think. Maybe it's not all about holding on to money but also having the faith to invest it.

Indeed with this cast I might be thinking about investment in some sense, afterall investment is faith and confidence in supply.

Yes I have denied myself a lot to build this money up. I often operate from a scarcity mindset and can be pretty anxious about running out, losing, being exposed and vulnerable and not able to care for myself and those I love.

I feel your responses have intuited this, and have pulled out of the reading the direct way it speaks to me about my state of mind.

Money and finances are to do with energy and how we midwife it or release it. I think I need to think about what my energy is doing at the moment.

I don't want to hide from my life and limit its depth because of a desire to hang on to this or that penny or pound.
