Hi everyone! My family and I are planning a move to Santa Fe, NM, in July, and I've been working on finding a job out there for the past few months. I am a teacher, and there is one school in particular that I would love to work at. They just posted a position in my subject, but it is a one-year commitment only. I applied anyway, then asked Yi for an image of my application for the job. I received 3.2.3 -> 25. I have both Wilhelm's and Barrett's translations, and by cross-referencing them I've come to a working theory about what this reading means for me. Tl;dr I think I'm being told that this is a real opportunity, but one that I may want to pass on, or at the very least wait to accept until other variables have become clearer.

In general, #3 tells me what I think is already pretty clear, that this is a fraught transition overall (like a sprout struggling to thrive). But specific to the question about the job, I take what Barrett says to heart: "It’s far too early yet to narrow all the possibilities down to a single destination... In exploring all possibilities, you enrich and strengthen the center as growth begins." For context, I've submitted another application at another school, which is a bit more of a reach for me given my qualifications, and an additional application for a two-year Teaching Fellowship at this same school, both of which are still open possibilities (they're reviewing apps now). So there are other opportunities that may pan out, and perhaps I don't want to just jump into this opportunity (though of course I haven't been hired let alone interviewed anywhere yet -- it's all up in the air at the moment).

The changing lines seem to build on this "wait and see" quality: from Barrett on #2: "There is a genuine opportunity here, but it’s natural to hesitate before accepting. You may want to ask yourself if you want to enter into a commitment that will take so long to come to fruition — or if the partnership is a good fit for your own path or growth." [Is this in reference to the fact that it is a one-year-only commitment? Meaning, I'll be out of a job next year? Otherwise, this school is literally my dream job in SF.] And #3: "You’re chasing after your desires with no guide, perhaps so entranced by anticipation that you forget where you are now, namely on the verge of getting humiliatingly lost... There is still time to recognize where this is taking you and desist. If you’re in this for the long term there’s no need for such haste." [This would seem to suggest that the job itself -- or perhaps in this iteration, as a temporary position -- is not the right path for me. The school itself is exactly in my wheelhouse and is the only school of its kind in Santa Fe, so I have to assume that it isn't the school itself but this particular opportunity that is referenced here. More broadly, is this warning against the move to Santa Fe in general? Thoughts?]

The secondary hex (25) echoes some of this as well: from Barrett again: "When you are without entanglement, you realize what is not yours, and you will not take it on... Now is a good time to reevaluate your plans, dreams, and goals. Imagining new places to go is of no use if you can’t see where you are—and in any case even the clear plan is not immune to chance." [Again, is this only about the job referenced in the question, or about the move to SF in general?]

There are so many variables at play in the larger situation -- moving to SF in general; having other applications currently in play; not having been invited to interview let alone having been hired by anyone yet; trying to get NM teaching licensure for other teaching options to open up -- that it is hard to get a perfectly clear bead on this question.

Having read much of the Exploring Divination commentary on this hex, I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has received it and maybe even these same changing lines in the context of a big transition or opportunity. That said, I welcome any thoughts and insights from my esteemed Clarity community. Thank you!

This sounds like something that doesn’t come to fruition. Difficult beginning and entry, the timing is off, and you sort of go your own way without entanglement. Obviously there could be other interpretations, I just don’t see what you would grab onto in the cast that’s positive or stable. Line 2 is usually about letting this one pass, knowing the real thing will come later. Line 3 is about reading the signs early and not continuing down a path that shows warnings. Look for any warnings I guess? The cast make me think it’s important to see things as they are not as you want them to be.

I applied anyway, then asked Yi for an image of my application for the job. I received 3.2.3 -> 25.

3 meaning 'it appears, but does not leave it's dwelling'
25 meaning 'disaster comes from the outside'
Nuclear 53 contains a challenge to remain firm standing in your own moral codes while helping to educate those around you.

Perhaps the image of this specific application is one where it will not get off the ground due to external influences. You may want to engage with the events that surround this application and will be tested to remain standing in your power.

Perhaps, viewing from a wider perspective Hex 3 guidance is to see this as just the beginning of a process where you are going to have to make some inward concessions and look at how you are grouping things together. Have you become too narrow-minded? Have you got all your thoughts and thinking in a proper place about all aspects of this move.

3.2 - treat what goes on around your applications not as a personal affront. Rebalance your inner world and remember you are in this application process for the long haul.
3.3 - Your view of the world is resembling how a headless chicken behaves. Acting as you are, you walk on the edge of an unseen danger, perhaps losing more than you realise. Begin to think and do things differently.

...or it might mean nothing like this at all.

Good Luck
