A little background perspective is required.

I have a south node Aquarius in the 6th house. The south node is the past life momentum, skills we have accumulated, etc. Aquarius lends this past skills of communal sharing, inventiveness, principled understanding (overseeing / 19). The 6th house shows that these skills come from the realm of healthcare, compartmentalized and organized understanding the parts that make the whole work (obstruction / 12).

The north node is the direction forward along the evolutionary path. While the south node feels familiar and safe, it is in the pursuit of the north node that we find fulfillment of our destiny. The nodes of the moon relate to the high point and low points of the lunar gravitational weights that effectively pull us out of alignment with the fullest connection to the energies of the solar system. The earth and the sun are moving roughly toward the direction of the North star. Thus the low point (south node) is where the accumulation happens, and the high point is where forward progress is found. During the eclipses we have alignment of the moon and the sun and the nodes, allowing us to bypass the gravitational pulls of the moon to direction gain clarity on the northern and southern pulls. If there was no moon we would always have this access.

My north node is thus in Leo in the 12th house. Leo is singular where Aquarius is a collective. Rather than sharing, it is about sublimating the energies that encroach upon its power and being centered within that power (withdrawal / 33). Where the 6th house is concerned with the parts of the whole, the 12th house is concerned with the whole itself, for it is only when we divide the whole that the parts need names. But in naming the parts, we lose sight of the whole. To fully embrace the whole we let go of names and become aligned with the whole by allowing our spirit to transcend the mental construct and embrace all that is without the mind getting in the way (tranquility / 11). So Leo in the 12th house is of a singular spiritual pursuit. It is only when the parts can be transcended that the whole may be discovered. The more power that is invested in this pursuit, the more progress may be made.

So I started off with a career in computers, hosting websites. But I yearned for spiritual understanding, seeing clearly that there was something more out there, and having the capacity to understand how it worked. Eventually I realized I needed experience, and a teacher. And I found a teacher, who used internal martial arts to connect the parts to the whole.

And then I realized that I needed to change my career, so I went to massage school. Massage has allowed me the means to work with others, spiritually. And yet, it also allows me to work with my knowledge of the parts, and the healing aspect. My Chiron (wounded healer) in Taurus is roughly square my nodes, and so it implies a crisis in moving forward along my path. It is near my 10th house (career) and thus allows a role in hands on healing that helps me transcend my blockage in moving forward, allowing me a way to work on my wound and accomplish my healing.

So here I am, working with the body in my movement and my career path, and naturally I begin studying Chinese Medicine. It helps bring the parts together to form the whole. Helps me to build a foundation, a landing, if you will. From which I may transition more fully toward the light path and away from the mental path.

But one of my problems is that I want to work with people who want meaningful work. Especially spiritual work. And yet I get bogged down by people who want deep tissue massage and have no sense of self-care mentality. So when I heard of an opportunity to work doing massage at a Chinese medicinal clinic with highly reputable practitioners, I leapt at the chance.

Alas, it turns out that they only want to work with therapists who are enrolled in Chinese medicine school.

So when I asked this question of the yi about going to Chinese Medicine School, I was looking for an answer that would either show me that this was an OK side-tracking of my ultimate goals, or that it was not a good direction for my path.

And clearly it is not.

In the Jiaoshi Yilin, hexagram 36 unchanging is (The Forest of Changes tl Christopher Gait):
The stone of that mountain,
Can grind down jade.
They come to attack my city.
My skin is injured,
The nation suffers and grieves.

Clearly the weight of the mental and financial requirements to go through the school would be too much a burden for my spiritual path.

Meanwhile I have made progress in understanding how to apply the energy in my massage. The principle of xu ling ding jin allows me to work more effectively with the energies of the top of my head and lower dan tien, and Han Yang Ru Yi is a practice I came across on reddit after having a dream about it, that uses this energy for healing.

I still believe that the Chinese medicinal principles are helpful for me to discover my blind spots, and yet I have no interest in needling or prescribing herbs. Touch alone is enough. The yijing did also give me encouragement when I asked about applying to this clinic, but I think now that there is perhaps a different reason for this that remains to unfold in its own time. The clinic is unusual in that the people running it have worked out the root of the medicine and practice authentically, something rare to find these days in the west or even in China. I received a massage there yesterday, and it was indeed something I needed to experience.

So this reading helped me with clarity on the direction of my path. I find it interesting how strong the pull toward my south node can be, and how challenging it is to move forward out of the past and into the direction of the future.

I can’t provide you any insight on the divination, but thank you for your openness.

my first intuition was to point you to Daoist QiGong..

there are many exercises in this silent system that can help you to purify and stabilize your Qi. It also has a great effect on the mind and spirit and could bring you tons of new ideas and approaches.

the more you learn about your own energy, the way it flows and how it acts, the more varied and specific your massage technique can become. i think that by doing this you will also naturally attract more of the kind of people you prefer as patients.. it's all connected anyway.

There is an exercise called Xiǎo Zhōu Tiān, the small heavenly cycle..

it is very beautiful and, like I Ching, far too deep to be able to comprehend with the mind.

A good book to look into this could be
„The Complete System of Self Healing: Internal Exercise“
by Dr. Stephen T. Chang. San Francisco: Tao Publishing 1986

There is also a lot about QiGong massages in general and maybe it could help you to find out how and where your journey is going.

Check Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, he knows some particular exercises and massage techniques.

Wish you success and fulfillment ✨

Thank you for your kind reply @misha9 !

My path did cross with that of a daoist teacher, and I began working with them around a decade ago. I took a break recently to accomplish various changes, but I am returning to classes next month.

Part of my recent work has involved clearing blockages in my ren and du vessels. It would be very nice to move into work with the waterwheel, and perhaps one day accomplish the true potential of the small heavenly orbit and achieve the jade and golden elixirs.

All in good time. Thank you for your recommendations, and blessings to your way!
