Hello everyone,

A week ago I got 9 Small Taming 5 & 26 Great Taming as answers to my polite request for a general insight about my health.

Today (and it's a hot day here on the South East coast of UK, time to go to beach, meaning time to get into your swimming suit for the first time this season...) the question was simply: Ageing?

Got exactly the same answers. This repetition on a theme happens to me often with Yi, which I'm finding so reassuring. Still, it doesn't mean I'm sure to understand the actual meaning of the answers, so your comments and views into 9.5-26 situation would be greatly appreciated, as always.

Best wishes,

Grace

'Ageing' is an interesting word.

'maturing' is different in meaning.

i think the idea of 'ageing', or your use of the word, represents a negative outlook? Something that has past its prime?

I think the yi might be saying that through small pesistent gains over time, we reach a level of understanding.

In hexagram 09 we recognize that to become influential requires work. The process of gentle change through emphasizing one's accomplishments acts as a way of refining one's power, so we make small gains that accumulate and eventually one's time will come.

9 at 5: Inspiring confidence, making order (out of chaos) thus. Rich through one’s neighbor.
One does not become a good neighbor by being nice, but by being true and open. He will know that he can rely on you, always, so he will be there for you too. He will accept your decisions, even when they are not ‘nice’, because he will trust and understand you.

I think this line in relation to your question might be saying that over time there is an undoubted trust in the nature of things, all is accepted, the good and the bad.

if you relate it to 'health'. it could be talking about your actual physiology, that the body takes everything in and accepts it, the body does not differentiate between the good and the bad, that you can rely on your body to tell you what it needs.

hex 26

Tame and feed the big animals, take good care of the big harvest and store it in a safe place. Your life needs the big values, the harvests of man that survive the eras.
Love has to be universal love. If it does not rely on eternal values, one cannot even call it love. But even the small things one does every day need the eternal deeds of the gods as example.
Always, everywhere, one encounters signs of the big animals, even if one sees only a footprint, or hears a rumor. Gather the signs, store them, and save them in your soul. And tame the big bulls for plowing your fields and for riding on them in everyday life.

I think this is saying to listen to your body, listen to what it tells you. and that you have to apply good health practices everyday to receive the 'bigger picture'.

the old adage 'treat your body like a temple' come to mind here :)

I hope this helps.
