Why am i doing this to myself? 21.6 > 51

What am I not hearing? 64.2.6 > 16

I've also had the 30.4 earlier.

Bit worried. Am I headed towards some terrible disaster?

Yes 21 in particular line 6, would indeed imply you are "doing something to yourself" - but you can save yourself from the meaning of this line:

Lofting: Line 6:

Berkers on line 6:

What is there to learn with covered ears?
Misfortune.

Not wanting to listen, being unable to take it in. One doesn't learn anything that way. This blocks the unfolding of the situation, and makes things not go well.

Legge on line 6:

The relating hexagram 51 of course signifies a resounding shock, and cry of alarm.

However, this seems to be only a warning to you.

Hex 64 line 6 is viewed by Wilhelm as only a possibility of "over confidence in drinking and feasting" however symbolically we must take this.

30.4 may imply it is not a lasting crisis: It flares up, only to die away.....

Thank you foxx777. I have gotten the same meaning from the casts but it's really frustrating when you are told you are just not hearing the message but not being given any help in hearing it. I mean, if I could hear it, I would have done, right?

I think that maybe 64.2.6 is about getting carried away, not allowing for things that take time? I am notoriously fast and not always good to recognise when patience is needed nor oft able to take the slow approach when it's necessary. Both lines speak about limits I think, and knowing one's own, presumably, so perhaps it's a warning not to allow myself to get carried away by enthusiasm (which I had been doing a lot lately).

I want to stay in a positive frame of mind, but I don't want to be lost in fantasy. It's such a fine line..

I think you are right: I have the same tendency to push ahead with enthusiasm, even though I am aware that the slower approach is the correct one. It sounds like you are hearing the message, and the line 6 of 21 is likely a warning to keep in that state as noted. Many times I have gotten dire castings which enable me to make them NOT become a reality by being aware of the pitfalls there. I would think the same applies here.

You're not hearing the good things that surround you, you're dwelling in the negative (?). Hexagram 16 is all about music, which is appropriate for your question. You're not hearing the beautiful things.. as you listen for signs of doom.

The river is on fire, but it draws back to its source: the spring on the mountain. Then there is fresh energy, thunder, which resounds out of the earth at large.

Stop for a second. Relax.

Nine at the top means:
There is drinking of wine

However, here's the warning. It's fine to celebrate and enjoy the exuberance of life, but keep tabs on what's happening, and an ear open for warning. I don't think you have to worry about this, from what you've posted, however.
