Hex 31 changing to 55 (lines 1 and 5)

Hello all,

Without going into too much detail, I asked Yi a question about how the energy in a now "ended" relationship might shift in by late June (I am taking time to get myself together after a recent move to a new city). I am thinking that by late June I should be grounded enough to send this guy that I like, but dated only about a month, a letter to let him know that I would like to start seeing him again. Our almost-relationship ended rather badly due to me being ungrounded at the time (bad timing). But I felt a real connection with him and rather than trying to get out and date new people, I would like to see if he would consider trying again. I know things will be better for me then so this is why I asked Yi about how sending him this latter might shift the energy between us. I received 31.1.5 changing to 55. Although I think I understand the energy here, it is always good to confirmation from others.

I am the same way, I would rather try again where I felt a deep connection, than cast about with strangers. I do not think you are wrong for trying for a second chance.

The Emotional I ching says for H31, Wooing, "With self-restraint comes intensity."
of line 1, it says that you had been acting on "your big toe", your will, your determination, and not with any real influence.

But of line 5 (your new plan) it says you have progressed: Although in testing times, you will have real power to influence now, because you have prepared and your purpose is fixed.

Using the Berkers version, this hexagram, the changing lines, and the following hexagram, all confirm your intuition:

The situation is difficult to oversee. One might get pessimistic about it, but there is no need for that. There is progress. It is a good idea to pick a time when things are at it's clearest.
(At midday there is the most light, and shadows are shortest. This is the time of day that things are clearest.)

There is the most light in the long days of June. Just a nice synchronicity!

Regarding the relating hexagram, 55, Abundance, this can sometimes indicate TOO MUCH of something.

There is at least two men in this hexagram and one female.

This is a triangle relationship because hexagram 31 has three yang lines and three yin lines. The relationship can be "easy hot" and "easy cold". There is a pretty woman (may be you) in the picture. Both parties like each other, but this relationship is a temporary and hot for a short period of time. Hexagram 31 is only good for one night stand and immediate sex, not for soul mates.

Line 2 man has a woman behind it and the man in line 2 merge with line 6 (marriage papers) in hexagram 31. Line 6 character marriage papers sit under both the year, day and hour of of the reading. He is not getting his sex from the partner and that relationship may already been over.

Line 1 change line may mean when the relationship ends, someone is looking for another female for sexual encounter or fun, but there is no female because the female character in line 1 of hexagram 55 sits under the month of the reading. That is the house of the spouse, but it is empty.

Hexagram 55: it seems that the romance has matured and peaked. Difference between the two parties start to show. The feamle like materistic things and spending money. Everything looks good on the surface, but there are many problems. If the differences cannot be resolved, there is no marriage or being together.

I've found this line particularly difficult to interpret. Some translations differ a lot in their meanings. What seems important is your motivation not to be selfish.

This is Carol Anthony's advice:
"We are too anxious to find the right answers: we try to figure things out rather than keeping empty, allowing the right things to come of themselves. We must not even allow the fear of doing wrong to cause us to lose our receptivity. In this case the "back of the neck" mens we are reacting to events stiffly rather than receptively."

Abundance seems to be good, but the sun can't be at its zenith forever. So, maybe you should enjoy the sun while is there without worries, knowing that things may change and not last as you wished.
