I'm caught in the East Coast power shortage, so I'm typing fast. Please excuse any typos. Everytime I've started this post the power has gone out.

I've been to the bottom of my pit. I've dealt with the worst of it...unless the Yi thinks I should go back even farther and deal with the disappointment I felt when I didn't get the Barbie I wanted from Santa. I certainly hope not. I can't take much more of this.

Having had enough depth diving and feeling definitely ready to roll, I asked the Yi how to get the show on the road. The answer was 46 to 18. Line 6 says "Know what you want and where you want to go to get it" basically. So I had to sit and ponder and choose between NYC where I can make a particular dream I've had for a very long time come true or Los Angeles where my family is.

I chose NYC where the garment industry is headquartered and where I can make my dream come true. I'll make my fortune there and be able to travel to LA whenever I want. Besides I suspect my family is going to be spending considerable time on the East Coast since my son-in-law is deeply entrenched in the NY film community.

Some time ago I designed a particular line of clothing. The motivation behind the line was to make this world a better place to live in. The lines are simple and classic and endure to this day. The secret of success of this line is going to be as much in the lines and styling as in the specialized textile and marketing strategy. So...

Having made my choice, I told the Yi I was going to start looking for jobs in the garment industry in NYC in which I can learn all the facets of the industry I need to know...design, textile manufacturing and marketing. The answer was hexagram 1, no changing lines.

As far as I know (but then we all know I know nothing), the Yi is saying, "You go girl!" Is there anything else I need to know about this hexagram? I'd love any input anyone has to offer.

Additionally, if any of you out there know of anyone in the garment industry who is in a position to hire me, you all already know that I am assured of success with this line (my dreams, the psychic who approached me at work in Los Angeles, the Yi, etc.) and that this job I'm now seeking will possibly...probably turn into or lead to a lucrative partnership.

Further, they couldn't find someone too much more motivated, focused, dependable and trustworthy than I am. I'm a quick study as well.

In short...I'm putting the word out there...and I'm spreading it.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Val,

Outer World: This is a time when you are able to employ the full creative force of the Universe. You will be looked upon as a leading light, and will be sought out to offer advice and counsel to others. Provided your actions are in accordance with the ?wise?, you will find it easy to organise others and to guide them in the direction of the ?wise?. Your actions are very important, both for you and others, and you are in harmony with the Universe. Be continuously active in pursuit of your goals, by developing your talents, but do not try to force outcomes. Submit to the flow, by letting things unfold naturally. Remember, everything has its season. You will be at the centre of everything. You will be expected to offer leadership. However, remember that in order to be a successful leader you must be a successful follower of the Sage. In all areas of your life and influence, maintain correct conduct. This hexagram promises success in your endeavours, provided that they are morally and spiritually beneficial to others.

Good luck, but you shouldn't need it.

hey val you know i live in new york ... i may know a couple people you could talk to. not corporate, small independent people who make their own designs.

may i say, the idea of your clothing reminds me a bit of eileen fischer's clothing, a very supportive company, maybe you can approach them? i know someone who used to work for her...maybe i can try and look her up.

but i hope when you come to new york, we can meet!

just to clarify, i thought of you in relation to eileen fischer's clothing because of the philosophy behind her company. it might be a supportive place for you to get started, in some way or other.

Hi there everyone

Gene...

Thank you. I'm grinning. That's what I wanted to hear. I'm on the case now.

Michael F...

Thank you. I don't know about offering advice and counsel...but directing the design and manufacturing of my line is certainly along those lines and what I want to do. I also have some definite ideas about marketing my product and want to provide some input there as well. Besides, I have the connections to get it marketed the way I want...which is high profile exposure.

I suspect the Universe will be very happy with my endeavors because the motivation behind the designs is to promote life on this planet.

Tash...

Thank you so much for the brainstorming. I'd much rather get in with a smaller company than a big corporation. So your news is great indeed!

I went to the Eileen Fisher website http://eileenfisher.com when I read your first post. She certainly has a philosophy I admire, I loved her mission statement, the work environment and everything...AND... she sells to Neiman-Marcus.

I love her fabrics. I think mine just fit in. I've done some research, and, as far as I can tell, the particular blend of materials I have in mind hasn't been used yet to create the kind of fabric I want. And I don't see any reason it can't. Of course, with further research, I might discover otherwise. I don't have the resources I'd like in this small backwoods town...which is funny if you think about it because this is a textile town...that's why it's dying...textiles have left this country. At least cotton textiles have. The textile I have in mind never happened here. It's definitely an import.

I love the picture of her. She's a natural woman. She's a beautiful woman.

Dear Val,

I have maybe a slightly different take on this from the others. 'You go, girl!' - definitely! Huge creative force powering through to expression - definitely! It has to emerge and take form somewhere; it is not going away. But there is more than one way for the manifestation to happen. If this particular time and place isn't it, the Creative is not diminished in any way - it can't be.

You can see the 'theory' basis for this, I expect - 1, unchanging, not in relationship with anything. But I wouldn't have bothered you with that if I didn't have experience with this hexagram - unchanging - talking about great ideas and dreams which didn't materialise at the time of the reading.

So now I shall watch with glee to see if Val busts the pattern and breaks the mould yet again. (Hands up anyone who would be surprised...? quite, that's what I thought...)

Hi there...

Been talking to the Yi about ways to make this line happen, and the Yi has told me to wait. When I asked what am I waiting for, the answer was 31/1.2 to 43. I just got it again. Hmmmm.

Help?

Thanks

>When I asked what am I waiting for, the answer was 31/1.2 to 43.

I'd see that as you're being reminded to get your worldly relating/negotiating sense in order. While 1 starts the cycle, 31 starts the second part of the cycle. Like the difference between Aries and Libra. Not wait as in do nothing, but wait as in "I'm jumping into a new phase here - what are the pitfalls, what are the local rules?" Maybe the first two leads you've gotten are just the ticket, maybe they're not. How are you going to act on your opportunities with an appropriate combination of manners, enthusiasm and caution?

31 - LiSe, Affect and Affection
People need contact, and it is a very good and beautiful thing. Enjoy it. But ..
Evaluate influences very severely, even those who seem innocent or beautiful. Remember Snowwhite's apple? She looked at the beautiful apple, instead of the person who offered it.
Usually people do not want to hurt, they influence with the best intentions. They just don't realize how much self-interest these intentions contain. So be careful. A nice kiss can in the long term turn out to be a nasty bite. Don?t blame the one who did it, just never do anything that does not agree with yourself.
The trigrams say so: inside the mountain, which is you as autonomous individual, and outside the lake, the exchange. The contact can only be real and good if your individuality is the base of it.

43 - LiSe, The Speaking Staff
Speaking out one?s conviction, or holding up one's dignity, can be a dangerous venture, but it is necessary for a clean and healthy heart ? and it may also benefit the rest of the world.
Don?t keep still, but take care. Evaluate the possibilities and if it is necessary. Avoid fighting; there are better ways that give more results. Reckon with people?s ability to understand ? or their not being able to. And especially with the reactions of those in power. Nobody will benefit by your losing your head.

Hilary...

Thanks for your response. I read it and decided to keep an open mind to other possible opportunities, especially after the waiting answer from the Yi, and...

I do believe your insight has been very helpful. While I was in Philadelphia I came across a magazine in which the featured article was about a coming job boom that included the fields that will be growing. The lightbulb went on. The demand for my desktop publishing skills is growing, and the opportunities for my growth in that area are increasing, so that's my immediate goal with the clothing line as my long term goal. With luck, I'll be able to take my desktop publishing skills into a garment or textile manufacturing company.

I also fell in love with Philadelphia. I'd always seen it as more a 'blue collar' kind of city, but I discovered it's very strong in the arts as well...very strong.

In fact, I spent all day Tuesday in the Philadelphia Art Museum soaking up some major works by my favorites...and looking at many dings from the Shang and Han dynasties as well as other very ancient Chinese artifacts. They have a rather extensive collection there. Consequently, I now have another city in the Northeast I'd be open to living in, so my options have increased considerably.

Now I know why the Yi said wait...and I'm very glad I did...*grin*

Willow...

Thanks so much for your response. I'm still digesting your interpretation, but I already see in a 'big picture' context how it applies to my situation.

I was supposed to wait to discover other (and better) options available to me. The Yi has been very encouraging of every step I've made since my discovery. I'm just so happy the time of action is finally here, and now I understand with nearly crystal clarity (time will increase the clarity) why the Yi insisted I be patient and wait for so long.
