Hello Everybody!

I'm sure many of you experienced it but I have been recently getting the same hexagrams so often that it's scary! It's either hexagram 16 or 15 or (very often) 16.3.4 changing to 15. Just a moment ago I asked Yi to show me my situation and got 16.3.4 yet again.

I was wondering if you have any experiences with these two hexagrams..

Thanks!
Viola

What is the question?

Seems like you are saying: Can you help me understand where I am? The I Ching is delighted to provide you with an answer. Seems a little like asking how am I feeling right now? Perhaps you could meditate on where you are and if there is something bothering you - a question that nags.,. something you want to understand better. Know thyself. To get specific answers, ask specific questions. Then again it can be delightful just reading the I Ching book and learning its principles which will provide you with a humble foundation on which to proceed in your life.
Blessings.

The impression i get from 16:3,4 to 15 is that you're having issues with what you
feel is right, versus what your environment thinks is right for you. And it seems
to point to the advice that, do not trade what you know is right for yourself for
what others think is right for you. Do not take your environment's opinion. Yes
by all means keep your friends around you, but also modestly maintain your own
thoughts and identity - follow them outwardly, but not inwardly. Sorry if this is
way off, but this is what comes to mind without knowing any more details.

Also as a footnote, neither 16 nor 15 can have any grand tangible results. If your
question is about anything else except interractions with friends, you'd have to
get over the friends' interractions first, in order to get to any other goal. Again,
a long shot, without knowing what your question was!

Hi viola,
I have not got the same hexagram over and over, but when I started doing readings on myself, I got a lot of the wind/wood trigram. ... . . A . . LOT

Here is stuff about those hexagrams/lines that I have....

16-this hexagram represents enthusiasm and taking the path of least resistance. Sometimes it represents a group of people with someone being the enthusiast who "gets them going". Someone who is in strong charactor but who acts for the benefit or in accord of the people. Since the strong charactor is loved and helped by the people, this person succeeds in their endeavours. And since the images is that of thunder resounding out of the earth, (the image of enthusiam), it is also talking about summertime, when things are alive with energy. Perhaps you are becoming energized or refreshed or are releasing tension. It says that enthusiasm of the heart expresses itself involuntarily in a burst of song. (Hearts can't help but sing). Music is a theme of this hexagram because of its power to move people and it's connection with the spiritual world.

.3-this line is about hesitation of enthusiasm. It is as if it is speaking of faking enthusiams or just simply waiting because you are unsure of being openly enthused, which surely causes disfunction.

.4-this line is about having enthusiasm the right way by not doubting yourself and being sincere. In that way you can be the gatherer of friends and good times.

15-this hexagram represents how modesty works. It talks about someone in a lowly position that acts accordingly and simple. And for that the people are lifted up by his/her modesty. This also speaks of followthrough. The laws of nature are to make what is full empty and what is empty full. Modesty is empty and therefore becomes full by being so. What comes up must go down, and vice versa. Vice versa is the way of modesty. It talks of humans disliking fullness or being pompus, and instead they like someone who is modest. Sometimes it is hard to be modest because we want to be something we are not.It says that when a person holds a high position(the enthusiast and holder-togetherer of a group perhaps) and is nevertheless modest, he shines with the light of wisdom. The image of this hexagram is that of a mountain within the earth. The image of modesty. Just as the earth and mountain are opposites. One low and one high, they balance each other. So the superior perosn reduces that which is too much, and change that which is too little. Weighing them out equally. Equalizing the extremes is what this talks about.

What does this mean to YOUR situation?

trojan, I don't know the I Ching by heart at all. I remember just bits from reading it and getting some hexagrams in my readings. I open the book to help so I don't mislead. I use the Wilhelm Translation cause I like that one. (am going to get another book to broaden my horizon's soon)

I put little tid bits of my own things in here and there (don't just copy verbatim).
Not that skilled to just give advice without help.

Also I think the images and specific words can sometimes be the key to the answer.
Know what I mean T?
