Hey everyone,

First time posting, but I've consulted this site and community many times for insight on my readings before. I couldn't find a previous post quite like my question this time so I decided to finally join :)

My girlfriend and I consulted the I Ching tonight to ask about the outcome of our decision to move from a particularly noisy/stressful, but affordable and large, apartment. Our Hexagram was 27, with lines, 1, 3, and 4 as changing.

We'd love any insight anyone might be able to offer on what the I Ching might be saying to us!

Thanks in advance and we're glad to finally be an official friend to the site!

Hi Dawdling,

First thing to ask yourselves is, where would you be better nourished?

The change lines compose an image of dissatisfaction, hunger, feeling out of place where you are. It might be nice if you could simply tune all those noisy and unpleasant things out and transport your spacious hut to a blissful Shangri-La, but that's unrealistic. More than likely some sort of compromise will need to be made. It might be well for you two hungry tigers to spend some time imagining a place that you can afford where you would find a kind of compromise that you can live happily in. Then set to spying about for such a place.

Your changing or relating hexagram is called the Wanderer, an image of fire upon a mountain. Fire moves quickly to new fuel and does not linger, lest the fire burn itself out. From this, I gather that there's an important timing element at work here. While moves from desperation are unwise (don't ask how I know this ), it is wise to begin this decision making process sooner than later. Once a decision is made, you can resolve to either make the best of where you reside currently, or begin the wheel of providence to turn in your favor as your active search begins.

I think it's great that you can work together as a team in this. :bows:

Hi sooo :)

And thank you so much for this helpful reply! As the day unfolded after our reading and posting on here we started to come to several realisation that resonate with much of what you said. The first and biggest topic at hand was of course "should we move" and the answer, while difficult, was a yes.

This question of "where would you be better nourished?" has turned into a broader inquiry into what life priorities are best upheld at this time. It's still all a daunting process to navigate. We're looking quite a distance from the comfort zone of our part of town and falling in love with a previously unexplored, cheaper, and more laid-back area.

Things certainly are happening fast. The wheels are in motion and potential new tenants are coming to view our present apartment tomorrow. Sometimes it feels it is all we can do to hold on for the ride!

Two heads are better than one if you both desire the same for nourishment.

I think there are city people and country people. Often the ideal is to living a country lifestyle while being close enough to the city to commute to where the benefits of the city are, such as a typically more lucrative job market, restaurants, theater, museums, shopping, etc.

Nourishment or jaws (the image of the 27 hexagram) is a good image to have in mind while looking at new potential residencies. I've learned that if renting, sometimes the person/people you will be renting from are every bit as important as the place itself. Neighbors can also make or break your sense of peace and belonging, as you no doubt already are aware, including their barking dogs, late parties; all things to consider. Hopefully there's already a prepared place with your names on it just waiting for you. I truly wish the best for you.
