Greetings - and a request for help in understanding my online reading!
It has been some years since I have consulted the I Ching (and unfortunately I have forgotten most of my limited knowledge of this profound oracle) but I have just done so in a moment of profound personal crisis. My question was, "Is my renewed contact appropriate?" and relates to breaking years of imposed silence (in an atmosphere of fear and abuse) to contact someone I love deeply and with whom I share a lasting connection. Here on Hilary's site I received Hexagram 35, as both Primary and Relating hexagram. There were no "changing lines" noted in either hexagram; would these have been highlighted in red or otherwise noted? Neophyte that I am, I am confused and wonder if I am missing something.
Any guidance or insight into how I can best understand the significance of this reading would be deeply appreciated. As my situation involves considerable personal risk and vulnerability, as well as concern for the well being and highest good of others involved in the situation, I would like to interpret the reading as accurately and appropriately as possible.
Thank you, and peace on your path.

Hi, Aloriel,

Hex 35 unchanging indicates a sound decision, something that will provide a good foundation for future action. There is no indication of anything to fear. It is the image of the sun rising above the earth: a new beginning.

By the way, there was no relating hexagram, since there were no changing lines in your primary hexagram. The relating hexagram is formed only when there are changing lines.

Yes, Aloriel, as Ginnie said, what you got was just an unchanging hexagram with no moving lines - hexagram 35 unchanging.

You are correct that the site's online reading system does show the same hexagram twice for unchanging readings. I think it's just a quirk. Ignore the second one.

For some more information on hexagram 35 as an unchanging reading, you can read this thread, or try the Hexagram Search feature. To narrow the results to unchanging readings, as best as possible, either click on the link for "35. Progress" without selecting any of the line boxes at the top, or else put a checkmark in the "judgment" box. I just tried both ways, and the results seem to have a fair number of unchanging examples.

It seems that putting a checkmark in the "judgment" box produces a much smaller set of results. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad, actually; I've never compared the two. This thread of yours shows up near the top of both lists :).

By the way, the Hexagram Search feature can be accessed in two ways: (1) from the Search menu at the top of the page when you're logged in (right next to the Membership menu), or (2) click on "Sitemap and search" at the very bottom of the page, and then look for "Hexagram search" in the "Talk" section, about a third of the way down the Sitemap list.

Thank you so much, Ginne and Lisa, for your deeply appreciated insight and clarification. It is profoundly helpful and reassuring at a most 'challenging' crossroads, when I have tried to act impeccably and with integrity, out of sincere compassion, while greatly fearing the possible consequences.
I am grateful to you both for kindly replying in my moment of dilemma.
Peace on your path,
Aloriel
