I've been very very down these past few weeks and finally snapped last week. It was almost like a nervous breakdown. I've never learned to like or accept myself and always been negative towards self although very accommodating, caring towards others, friends especially. I numbed my true hurts by self smoking stuff and drinking, never allowing myself to feel what was really going on with myself. (quit a couple of weeks back, it's been hell but no going back. Time to face up!) I knew things had to change including the negative voice inside my head driving me to all sorts of trouble including social anxiety. Must admit, I felt helpless, towards self, trapped, shame etc so it's been a vicious circle gradually getting worse as the years have gone on. Abusive relationships and difficult childhood have played a part in feeling this way and left me constantly drained.
Anyways, after not leaving the house for a week out of fear/anxiety, I asked the I ching today how can I find love, times are so hard?

I studied these hexagrams for a long time as I'm not the brightest crayon in the box lol but WOW such inspiring advice from the I Ching! I really hope this helps some of you lovely people who have been stuck in the same sort of frame. Deep thinking has taken up a lot of my time and it's probably been my worst enemy the majority of the time. In the past, listening to other opinions apart from my own has been hard but I knew things weren't right and there was always a fork stuck in the road. I believe everyone has difficulties and as silly as they may seem to another person, they can be crippling for someone else so never judge anybody. Everyone has a different response to conflict and different coping strategies.

This is my understanding of deliverance and the lines:

*After a thunderstorm, or any time of extreme tension and obstacles, a period of new clarity and fresh opportunity follows. The storm has the effect of clearing the air and suddenly reducing atmospheric tension. Deliverance is at hand. In the wake of a storm on land, deliverance appears in the form of new color and life, which bursts forth in all the fields and flowers. In the wake of a storm at sea, deliverance takes the form of land itself.* I love this, it's so uplifting!

My understanding of the lines: The time serious emotional downs has passed, it’s a time to chill now. A storm has developed due to critical/hurtful thoughts being brought up, old wounds which have got in the way of life/living happy. Emotions to the surface have calmed. Now Forgive, remove.

I’ve developed awareness of the situation. Be honest with myself, don’t let other peoples slyness affect my being or slyness perceived in my head. Remove it all, let it pass through, do not store it. It is a definition of them not me.

Realize inner worth and what I want from life. At moments of standstill when we aren’t balanced, we become more desperate for something that we think we need to be complete, but when action is called for, trust in others is essential or there will be no progress towards true happiness. This may be found by approaching people of talent and integrity. This can soon be seen in others, it may not be perceived right away but through time and effort we can observe anothers true qualities.

It is better to have the weak as an enemy than a friend, as it may become a threat to our character, they may attempt to weaken us. The obstacle here is a sly difficulty – cunning. Removing people from head and life who caused one to have this negative view/attitude is the only option also accepting the memories and forgiving is crucial. Success is delivered this way. It's better to stand alone than with the wrong ones, as we better our own character, positive people will come without much effort, promise ;-)

The resulting hexagram is nourishment :)

Nourishment refers to much more than just a healthy diet. It is the care-giving function. Eating properly implies (indirectly expresses) care for oneself; providing healthy meals in the home is a sign of caring for the family. The writer of a great book or composer of an inspiring piece of music also provides nourishment — to humanity in general, by caring deeply about his or her work and offering the fruits of it to the world.

You can know people by observing what they choose to nourish in their own lives. Do they feed and develop their own bodies? Do they cultivate(develop/improve by educating) their spirits, their intellects (mind/intelligence of high order), their moral(adhering to right conduct) values? Do they nourish and care for those around them? If so, to whom do they devote their energies? The most successful people are temperate(not extreme) in eating and drinking, thinking and dreaming. They strengthen the world by nurturing the higher nature in man.

Pay heed to your inner thoughts and impulses, ignoring thoughts that weaken the build up of a healthy and persistent attitude. A wise person is moderate in the consumption of food and drink, because to be otherwise only leads to discomfort; the fact that temporary pleasure may precede the discomfort does not influence the person of mature character. In the same way, be discriminating in your words and actions, lest a desire for temporary advantage lead you to cause pain for yourself or others. Enrich your own character, and you will naturally nourish everyone around you.

The lines may or may not apply, they all did to me. My understanding:
To counter a tendency toward envy, self pity, practice self-reliance; take control. Rely on yourself, take control of your life! Don't be hard on yourself but be persistent toward your goals. Nourish yourself.

Those who earn their daily bread are much happier than those who rely on the charity of others. Continuing to be over-reliant on the generosity of others brings negative outcomes. They who chop their own firewood are twice warmed. You will be much happier if you work hard in life, even if sometimes it's a struggle, stay positive and believe in yourself, become the leader you know you are.

When seeking help for a worthy enterprise, one must be as zealous as a hungry tiger. To the degree your enterprise serves the common good, your determination will be honored by others. Only by generating a strong head of steam can the train's engine scale the mountain pass. Good fortune. Stay strong!!

A burden is borne by those in exalted positions, for the influence of such people is great, and they are responsible in some way or other for the nourishment of those below them. Awareness of this should not inhibit action; the general must feed his troops daily, regardless. A continuing awareness of the responsibility that comes with power is often the best means of preventing its dissipation, for responsible attitudes lead to good fortune, steadfast leadership and smart decisions.

If we practice all of these things, they WILL change our life. We just have to be strong minded and committed to the extreme! They didn't say it would be easy, but they said it would be worth it. Strengthen yourself and live your dreams. You can do it!! Xxx

P.s does anyone else have any insight or thoughts of their own about these hexagrams? Thanks :)
