Hexagram 5 turning 39, waiting in vain?

Dear all,
I have already asked the Yi about this person... our relationship has grown and got even deeper but always as friends... so I asked if I could expect a development of the relationship in sexual terms and the answer was hexagram 5 changing lines 1 and 2 turning 39. It is not very auspicious, isn’t it? it’s 39 that gives me this feeling of being waiting in vain.......

p.s: just to give you some background: some days ago I also asked about his feelings towards me and I got 48 turning 35.

39 is just reflecting that there is an obstacle here in my opinion. I think it is the background of your question. Hex 5, from my experience means waiting, and then waiting some more. And more waiting. I used Wilhelm's translation, and Line 1 says to just try to keep things going smoothly as long as possible, there is some "danger" that hasn't become apparent yet, and you are in a vulnerable position. So, bide your time. And line 2 says do not engage in arguments with this person, which I think may be the impending danger of line 1. Just plain old arguments. But, line 2, also implies the end of this is in your favor. Sounds like a tough spot, like there is some issue under the surface that hasn't been addressed yet, or even become apparent. Well, I'm sure glad I won't be there when that beast raises it's ugly head! JK, Jemoceans. I'm sure it is not anything too terrilble, but sounds like timing is an issue here, and certainly some difficulty that needs to pass. I don't know if I would throw in the towel just yet, but certainly doesn't sound like the time to begin a love life with this person. My experience with 5 has generally been very good though, but you really do have to be patient. Good luck!

Many thanks to take the time to read my post and answer my questions! I appreciate it very much. When I asked Yi if I could still expect a development of the relationship I was thinking in the long term, cause now we are not even living in the same city! (it will happen in a few months but not now). .. so you are right, there is a question of timing here... but I was wondering if I should go on expecting anything at all of this guy... even in the long term, it was more of a “spiritual” question, holding hope... Which were your experiences with hex. 5? Did what you were hoping for happen even after a long wait? BTW, we haven’t had any arguments so far, everything is calm between us, but maybe there are some obstacles I am not considering, or what is worse, that I don’t want to see...

I was getting hex 5 like crazy after I made some bad decisions, and ended up in a tough spot I just wanted to get out of. No job, bad living situation, etc. It took about 3 months, and then everything just started falling into place. But, yes, it did turn out well for me in the end. And during that time, I came to see hex 5 first, as a comfort. Alright, I just have to wait and things will get better. Then, as an irritatation. Yes, I know wait. Been waiting. By the end of this period, I was totally out of patience. Lasted longer than I thought it would. I think hex 5 implies that something about your placement is advantageous though. Like it's saying, just wait for "it" to come to you. Whatever it is for you. Might just be the the right placement of everything around you that you are waiting for
