Hi everyone,

I recently posted about my dog and whether to take her with me to Australia when I go in October, that post was helpful, so now I am writing to ask about my "stuff".

Long story short, I am going, probably for good having done quite a bit of "commuting" between the UK and Australia over the years because of close family in both, and because its unsustainable on all sorts of levels, but for all the economic reasons my house hasn't sold and so I'll be renting it. This is OK, I'm trusting and going with it, but agents have advised that it may be easier/I may get more reliable tenants if I let unfurnished, my furniture whilst comfortable and I'm fond of it is not of great value and it would cost as much to ship as to replace, equally I have an older son in the Uk still and plan to come back and visit for his graduation 2012.

When I asked whether to take my furniture or to leave it the Yi replied 64, and previously 49.4 which my reading suggests may be to do with making bolder changes now. If anyone has got any insights into the meaning they interpret I'd be grateful.

I can't decide if its too soon to decide (I may have sold my house but the lady who wants it hasn't sold hers, she may in a while) or if it means that the whole relocation project won't complete until my elder son finishes Uni and I come back in 2012.

Possibly it means it would be good to get rid of everything now so that I don't have to/can't revisit it later, I really don't know, certainly these plans have been 20 years in the offing and I deeply need to move on with my life although there are of course losses. Perhaps the biggest risks for me are of having a "fall back" position and not being bold enough...but that's just speculation and hunch. I'm nearly 50 so winkling me out of my niche is coming hard though I feel it is needed.

Well your thoughts are MOST welcome and bless you for reading my saga!

64 - Unsettled. The Yi says you have not yet decided (which you already knew) - waiting for the appropriate time - Before Completion - your plan is not yet in place for this voyage - there's something you haven't thought of yet that will help with your decision - it will resolve as you firm up your plans.

Says there's a step missing - something else you have to decide first. FWIW

To take my furniture or to leave it?
64 > 64

In hexagram 64 one's fox spirit (earthly part of the soul) is vanishing away as you plan to do from that place.

64J
Before Completion. Success.
But if the little fox, after nearly completing the crossing,
Gets his tail in the water,
There is nothing that would further.

The fox's tail is its property, a liability in crossing the water. So make a clean break. You could sell your furniture in bulk to an estate dealer, or offer it to family, friends, or charity, and you'd no longer be haunted by it. You'd be burning a bridge. I'm assuming you have enough to live on without the sale of you house.

I think Pocossin was correct in advising you to act. You are stuck in mid-air because of fear of not having a fall back position. I totally sympathize ...

You might connect your furniture and other stuff with a lot of memories, and you might have a fear you are losing your past, your own personal history if you get rid of your stuff.

But that's not true. You can get rid of your stuff --- and still keep your memories. You can always take a few things with you, too.

Simple answer is to leave/sell or just donate it to charity.

Line 49.4 indicates radical changes, so out with the old and in with the new.

Hex 64 is about a time of change, the crossing over, and thus shipping furniture is not only super costly but silly as well as I feel that your furniture is ordinary and therefore of low value. So, leave it behind and start afresh over in Oz.

Just remember to take your dog as that's all you need to take.

Thanks for all your thoughts and responses, there was a helpful insight in all of them.

In truth I can't fully act until the end of the month, so waiting, but also, this is a question of what is of value in the widest sense, and my "possessions" are not, with a few exceptions, and so I'm going to take some things but get rid of most of it so that I can make the change.

The dog is definitely coming, thanks for earlier help with that Willowfox, seems absurd to have wondered now! She is an accompanying spirit and has already proved herself a devoted friend.

Thanks again, it is really wonderful to hear from others who share a connection with the Yi, its been lonely without knowing you, and perhaps I'll be back later with another enquiry having made "the leap", though cautiously and without, I hope, getting my tail wet. Perhaps that's it, I need not and it may be better not to think of this as a leap but going forward steadily and sensibly, it will be less risky :bows:

It may be a geographical leap -- gee, that's a huge distance!

However, in terms of how to go forward, it would be best to do so with the utmost caution. If you have eyes in the back of your head, use them, too!

People sometimes forget that they can always buy everything they need when they get to their destination. Therefore, don't be afraid of throwing too much stuff away ...

Best of luck!

Spookily yesterday after writing, I picked up a phone message from some old friends from whom I'd become estranged, they went to live abroad. They rang me out of the blue from France because they've let their house, which is down the road from mine, furnished, want to come back here to live for a year and want to live in mine, with whatever furniture I leave.......the missing step? Certainly some kind of a helpful step all round, and I will definitely be taking it, one step at a time. Thanks again all. :bows:

Sounds like another problem solved, very good. Strange how solutions come at the last minute so to speak.

Spooky? I just love it when a plan comes together. Good luck on your voyage and have a wonderful time, now that that is settled for you. Spooky - a gift from the Gods :bows:
