Grrrr.. I don't know. I need some guidance on this person. I feel drawn to him, but I can't figure out how to deal with him really. We will be at a retreat together for an extended period this summer. If I did not feel physically attracted to him I would probably be more forthcoming with making friendly plans with him. We discussed riding up together to the retreat. I want to approach him but for some reason feel slightly intimidated. I'm not sure why. I asked "How does he see me?" and received 37.6. This seems good no?

Appreciate your insight!

Hi ariel13,

Joey Yap's "Plum Blossom Divination" says about 37.6:

General Luck: "There will be financial gains to be reaped from real estate transactions, and indeed, one's luck will tend to be better compared to the previous year. As such, it pays to remain focused on one's goals, and the outcomes will take care of themselves."

Relationships: "There is no rush to tie the knot, so enjoy the courting period, and things will eventually take care of themselves, when the right time has come."

Travel: "As long as travel plans have been made well in advance with careful preparation, one's journey should at least be a smooth one."

So, I say meet over coffee to do some travel planning, and let him experience you as an easygoing companionable person...and see what happens?

Good luck!

37.6 He has warm feelings towards you (wind over fire). He views you as a person of sincerity and good character. There is a natural affinity between you , as if you are of the same family.

63: the two of you have completed a cycle, of some kind, while something new is ready to begin. Do not carry the past into the future, or allow optimism to create illusions about reality. Focus on the small things that may lead to bigger undertakings.

Ha! Okay thanks radiofreewill. Yeah that is a possibility I suppose! I guess I have to be the one to reach out to him though. Oh man there are so many things to take care of before I go, because I will be gone a whole month. I am a flurry of anxiety. I hope your reading also relates to my ability to sublet my apartment too with the "real estate luck" and all.. haha

Thanks loverofknowledge. Yeah, that seems a pretty accurate assessment of how I think he feels about me. We are definitely of the same "family" in the sense that we come from a circle of artists who are always commiserating or collaborating with each other in some way. He is much more established than me in terms of success though. But we are going to the same retreat for art, which is seen by a lot of people as something that is supposed to be a pretty intense bonding experience too though. Because it is an even smaller number of people who are invited to do it. So there is a lot of community in that. I imagine I will find out soon enough if there is anything more to our relationship, as we will be at this retreat together for a month regardless of whether we travel together or not.

Hmm... I wonder about the part about completing a cycle though? I do feel in some way that I have completed some sort of a cycle. I feel like I am kind of at the height of what I thought I could accomplish based on certain limitations (which by no means are overall restrictive for the long term) but feel like the retreat is kind of a culmination of some of my recent efforts. I wonder if it is the same for him.. Maybe we will graduate from our community in some way soon. I already see that happening with him in terms of moving up the ladder in a way but not as much for me (yet). Time will tell I suppose.

I do feel that the retreat will change me in some fundamental way though. Just a gut feeling.

I'm excited for you!

I agree with you and loverofknowledge ~ you'll be on retreat for the length of one lunar cycle ~ in community ~ and it will change you in a fundamental way.

This might be a good one for you to journal...

And, according to the Plum Blossom method, any efforts you make to sublet your apartment will be rewarded. There are probably people out there who are ready for their own month-long private retreat, maybe even another artist who needs creative solo space?

In honor of your upcoming tribal time, here's Irish poet David Whyte's piece called "The Conversational Nature of Reality".

Have fun!

So a little quick update on this.

Yep we met up to discuss the trip, over drinks. When I messaged to ask him his travel plans he suggested we meet up, so that is why we did. We are still figuring out the actual travel part, but it was a really nice chat. I feel a little on air. Lot's of chemistry. He actually scares me quite a bit, because I like him a lot. I kind of get that from him too. He is really shy and sensitive actually. We are from the same area (sort of). I kind of forgot that, so maybe that's part of the "family" vibe. Like not to go into detail but we grew up in really similar circumstances and with similar types of people. I grew up in the state next door to his (which is really far from where we live now). We went to some of the same amusement parks and all as kids. Its funny. We shared some weird camping stories and among other things. It was nice :)

Anyway, I did a few readings. I think more than I should have. I think I should go with my gut. I feel like there is a mutual attraction. What course that will take I don't know.

But I asked how he feels about me after meeting up and got 53.2. That feels good to me, but I don't know. What do you think? I'd prefer an objective opinion. I'm a little twitterpated :)

I think he also makes me nervous, because he has some traits that remind me of one of my exes who I had a really deep connection with but who was extremely bad for me. I think that's a lot of my trepidation with him. He is really, really different from that ex in many ways, but I guess I was a bit scarred from that. Ugh, it's hard to unravel my feelings here, but I feel overall I'm pretty into him. And I guess I can't deny that :+/

How does he feel about me after meeting up? 53.2 to 57

The mountain crumbles into the wind ~ he's fallen for you.

The easy read is that he thinks of you as marriage material and is ready to move forward with the relationship.

Here's Fields in the Duke of Zhou Changes on 53.2:

Hexagram S3, Progression

Hexagram Statement: Counsel ~ Send a girl off as a bride. Good omen. Fortune ~ Good fortune.

Line 2: Omen ~ The wild goose reaches an outcropping. Counsel ~ They eat and drink, "cronk, cronk." Fortune ~ Good fortune.

Fields' Commentary:

Hexagram Statement: The subject of this hexagram is a wild goose that gradually migrates from the shore to the hilltop. Since geese mate for life, it may be a lone goose indicated here, which is a symbol of separation. The hexagram statement and various line texts make predictions regarding marriage and the married couple. Although this hexagram statement has no omen, the counsel is clear: it is a good omen for giving away the bride...

Line 2: This omen shows a wild goose hopping atop a rocky outcrop in the middle of the river. Here, a flock of migrating geese are eating and drinking contentedly. Good fortune is predicted.

I feel like the Yi is saying that you've found the "best seats in the house" to share with a tribal familiar, who is attracted to you, while participating in an immersive environment for a month.

By the end of the retreat, the two of you are likely to know if you'll want to fly higher together...

For now, my advice for you is to put a day of beauty on your calendar and relax ~ there's a lot of healing from the past that comes with new love ~ nurturing it a little every day goes a long way.

I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for the update.
53. 2 indicates early stages of courtship. You are gradually developing a relationship, which is romantic or oriented towards a deeper intimacy. The geese find a resting place for eating a drinking. That could symbolize the retreat you are taking. You are not yet at the stage of commitment.
57: the wind penetrates, in order clear away impediments, and to keep your relationship alive. You can't hold the wind, but you must respect its ways. Don't try to possess or contain this relationship. Let things unfold in a lively and alert manner. Trust the process. Concentrate on small results, rather than building big things.

The mountain crumbles into the wind ~ he's fallen for you.

Oh my gosh! Oh wow! Thank you radiofreewill!

I feel like this reading is about as intense as my experience meeting up with him last night. :flirt: haha

Yeah.. to be honest I kind of felt this way.. like he was "falling for me" a little or something. I mean you could just cut the sexual tension with a knife. Neither of us could stop smiling. He was fidgeting and peeling paint off of the table and digging his toe into the ground like a shy little boy. Funny enough too, he wasn't drinking alcohol at all because of some medication he's been on. So he was just having a coke, and he wasn't buzzed or anything. But there was definitely a buzz there. I felt it all day today...le sigh... haha

Line 2: This omen shows a wild goose hopping atop a rocky outcrop in the middle of the river. Here, a flock of migrating geese are eating and drinking contentedly. Good fortune is predicted.

And oh boy! I love this line, because where we are going is on a river, between the mountains! Damn you are good.

I feel like the Yi is saying that you've found the "best seats in the house" to share with a tribal familiar, who is attracted to you, while participating in an immersive environment for a month.

And wow. This line is just beautiful. A tribal familiar indeed. I absolutely love that take on it.

For now, my advice for you is to put a day of beauty on your calendar and relax ~ there's a lot of healing from the past that comes with new love ~ nurturing it a little every day goes a long way.

And WOW I think this is super fine advice. I can't believe how much weird stuff is coming up in me right now with the the PROSPECT of someone I could fall in love with. I've been thinking about my ex all day... just trying to remind myself that THIS IS NOT THE SAME GUY. UGH. Why do we have to be so scared?

My wiccan friend visited me over the weekend and basically just told me to light a red candle and light a white candle and meditate. That's what I'm trying to do in addition to the "day of beauty." I realize I am not feeling super attractive right now, so I'm dying my hair, painting my toenails and all that good stuff tonight. Much needed.

I have to see him again tomorrow too though... I feel like I wish I could leave it be until we go on the retreat, but I can't miss this show he is in bc it's the last one at this particular gallery which is closing. He will be really busy with all the people though.

I am still waiting to hear if he was able to borrow a car for us to go on the journey... Fingers crossed! I feel like it would be nice to take the roadtrip together too.

Also, just another quick update for you. I think that you were right about the sublet situation too. I am currently in negotiation with a really nice couple who are planning to make a deposit tonight. So fingers crossed on that too!

Thanks so much for all your awesome interpretations!

Thank you loverofknowledge!

Your interpretation is a little more sobering but much appreciated!

It is nice to confirm though that this at least symbolizes early stages of courtship. I mean I really hope that is what it is.

57: the wind penetrates, in order clear away impediments,

As for this line, I think it is really interesting. I feel like people always say that the universe sort of throws people together or creates multiple opportunities for connection if it is sort of fated or meant to be. I have felt that way with this guy. Like I literally run into this guy all the time outside of normal circumstances where we should meet such as on the street, at the beach, wherever. And then suddenly we both end up at this retreat during the same month. I mean I don't know anyone else who will be there in July, and I have several friends who were accepted, and there are many months that you can be assigned. So I feel like the universe has been trying to throw us into each others paths for a long time. But I feel like there has been some reluctance, and now I am realizing it's really fear based. I hope we can get past that and finally connect as intended.. no matter the outcome.

Light a candle for me or something! hehe

Thank you again for the reading!

Oh simmering excitement!

I'm sending best wishes on the sublet, the car and the show!

The synchronicity seems good ~ your reading reminds me of one of my favorite paintings, "Last Hike" by Shitao ~ two travelers on a rock outcropping contemplate the highest heights across the emptiness of time and space...

Here's a meditation to go with the painting ~ Harding's Moment of Discovery.

Many blessings to you both.

Hi Radio Free Will,

Thank you, loverofknowledge, for asking,

I find "Last Hike" and Harding's 'Moment of Discovery' to be mutually evocative, so a nice pairing for an insight meditation.

In Taoism, dragons are mystical animals of transformation that ride the mists of Qi between Heaven and Earth.

In meditation, the dragon samadhi is indicative of unshakeable stability...like a rock...which gives rise to penetrating insight that goes beyond mere surface appearances...

Here's how Hinton's 'Tao Te Ching' puts it in Chapter 16:

Inhabit the furthest peripheries of emptiness
and abide in the tranquil center.

There the ten thousand things arise,
and in them I watch the return:
all things on and ever on
each returning to its root.

Returning to the root is called tranquility,
tranquility is called returning to the inevitable unfurling of things,
returning to the inevitable unfurling of things is called constancy,
and to understand constancy is called enlightenment.

Without understanding constancy, you stumble deceived.
But understanding constancy, you're all embracing,

all-embracing and therefore impartial,
impartial and therefore imperial,
imperial and therefore heaven,
heaven and therefore Way,
Way and therefore enduring:

self gone, free of danger.
