Hello everyone. The question I asked was: In light of what Y and I talked about tonight, how should I view X?

5.1.2.> 39

Waiting means to me that I should wait in peace and anticipation for something (usually good or what I want) and lines 1 and 2 seem to say to persevere, and though there may be some gossip or words exchanged, they will all come to right and good fortune in the end. If 39 is the context or background, then in difficulties, I should persevere and wait in good spirits.

Wait for what though? Because my question was how should I view X. Could this mean that I should wait more time to see what to think of X and that in the end, there will be good fortune? This would imply that I can think well of X instead of ill of X?

Could you please give me your thoughts to interpret this? Thank you.

Meanwhile, the judgement for hex 5. says “If you are sincere you have light and success,” so I see this as saying in broad terms that you are waiting for light, for clarity, and if that is your sincere goal you will achieve it but meanwhile the lines seem to be warning you that your conversation with X only seemed to be just a sharing of rumors that may or may not be helpful and certainly did not give you clarity and only created 39. Obstruction. So yes, I think you are being advised to withhold judgement, and not to let the conversation you had with Y over ride your own instincts.

Thank you for your interpretation. I think your words are apt for the situation. I definitely am wanting clarification but it seems at the moment as things are, since there is no movement or action or communication regarding the situation, that it is over and done with. Seeing the 5, I was kind of perplexed since it seems like there really is no more to the story. The cycle/story is ended it seems. Well, one never knows about life so maybe clarification/closure is coming (hex 5) and the how is not something I can anticipate.

Yes, the talk I had with Y (Y is completely outside the situation) did make me see the situation in a more "logical" and practical way and I started to see many things wrong that happened that I had let slide and accepted blindly. But my other readings don't seem to say that this was necessarily the case. I got 61.2 a few times and that is a lovely line of inner connection and sincerity.

Rosada, you helpe me to see this cast better. I really appreciate that. I agree that I don't know everything in regards to this situation, and it would be a good idea to hold off on making a definitive judgment until I can see the bigger picture, which I hope happens sooner than later. I have a feeling that this clarification will take a LONG time (a real Hex 5).

Remember that 5 is not simply waiting.
Noone said there was a "what" to wait for.

It is about manifesting the attitude of
eating. drinking, and good cheer, making the most of it, whilst time does it's thing.

unblock, by refocusing your direction and attention.

Thanks Moss Elk. This is a good interpretation too and helpful. I def have been blocked about this and agree the refocusing and redirecting my attention elsewhere while things sort themselves out in time is what the Yi has been telling me and so your answer has reminded me to do that.

so the hex 5 Waiting doesnt mean that the waiting leads to something but that waiting is about just letting time pass in good cheer?

Does this mean that I should view X in a good light and have confidence that X is true and excellent (highly moral like the junxi/da ren/big person)? And that X brings good fortune to me or something to that effect?

however there is the 51 relating hex. If it is the background then...although I have been shocked, all is well? Or if 51 is the future, then my following naturally by trusting in the goodness of X leads to a shock of some kind? Iknow the shock in 51 doesn’t mean a bad shock per se. But it does cause me some trepidation and a little bit of aversion. I think that in this case for me, the 51 is the background since I was shocked by X.

So 5.. is advice for how to be when Waiting for rain or any event you know is coming but that you don't have any control over when it will arrive.

I make up stories to connect the lines of the hexagrams so I can understand and remember the meaning better. Right now I'm toying with seeing 5. as about somebody with writer's block waiting for a new idea.

5.1. Waiting in the eternal silence. What new idea will emerge?

5.2. Out of the silence we hear a humming, a vibration, ideas floating around. May or may not be clear but good to know things are moving.

5.3. But then..silence again. The empty space between ideas... and the writer is eternally and totally stuck.

5.4. But lo! the vibration rises again, stronger, fiercer, out of the stillness something is coming!!! Only this time it's fears about paying rent and buying food and dying if you don't come up with a new idea. Get help!!!

Okay, now here's where 5. gets interesting. Something is coming but we don't know what it is. What is it? Maybe raw power and our job is to guide it with our thoughts. Like the physical world is the manifestation of a script we write and at this point we need to brain storm with others, like we're all part of an improvisational theater troupe and we need to have a writer's meeting where we get others involved and discuss the next episode of this soap opera known as Life on Earth.

5.5 Okay, let's sort this thing out. The hero is stuck in mud and blood and the villains are fast approaching. What should we have happen next? Oh, and while we're talking about it have another glass of wine...

5.6 The ideas start flowing! Suddenly there are possibilities like none ever imagined before! Who will play the hero? Who will play the villain? Who will play the damsel in distress? Honor them all! There are no bad roles!

Your ability to bring these hexagrams to life with a flowing story is amazing.

So hex 5 is Waiting for rain or any event I know is coming but that I don't have any control over when it will arrive. Except I have nothing I am expecting with certainty like that because due to the absence of communication, movement, or any action in my situation, expecting any new event seems to be completely futile or even delusional for the rationally inclined.

Now I’m thinking 5. Waiting has to do with time travel. Our minds can visualize the future instantly but it takes time for us to catch up with our projections. Maybe 6. Conflict is all the different thoughts sending vibrations from all different directions.
